That's not the general consensus at all.

The consensus is definitely not one or universal praise, you have to admit that.

Still, I'm relieved we finally got a PC confirmation. I've been meaning to check this out, and it'll be all the better once they have everything nailed down in terms of updates.

*sigh* I guess I might have to buy it for the graphics. Eventually.

Also, the Steam page lists "online coop" as a feature. What exactly does that mean? I stopped really following the game years ago so I must have missed that. If I could play most of the game in coop that would actually be a significant selling point for me.

Multiplayer DLC Comrades it's not out yet on consoles.

Just noticed the disk space required lol. That's about 1/5th of my data cap per month. Big nope even if I wanted it solely as a graphics show piece.

The thing about spoiler images...most people won't know they're spoilers unless they know something about the story.

You only have to know something about the story? I think you need to know more than that to figure out what a picture of someone visible older who kinda looks like the main character means.

A multiplayer expansion is coming out, they released the console beta for it earlier this month. Looks like the multiplayer and all the DLC will be included with the PC version.

Also, can't wait for your review/impressions of the port. :D

That's not the general consensus at all.

The general consensus is that plenty have valid criticisms that push it far below the expected quality level of the franchise reputation, while others are able to find value or merit somewhere in between the cracks. There is absolutely no common ground whatsoever.

So it's just a limited special mode?

  • Beta entry is for those who own the season pass.
  • PlayStation®Plus required.
  • You can create and save up to 8 characters.
  • Develop avatars using experience gained from defeating enemies and completing quests.
  • Noctis and his friends will also be made playable at a later date. (probably after Episode Ignis is out?)
  • Unlock customization elements with item purchases at outposts and quest rewards.
  • Hubs include a base camp and a city. The city will be in the full version, not the beta.
  • Weapons include katana, club, dagger, polearm, crossbow, shields, and shuriken.
  • Attack patterns vary from those of Noctis.
  • New system called Royal Sigils. Sounds to be the Kingsglaive magic thing. There will be 4 Royal Sigils in the beta.
  • Online parties will consist of four players. If you played alone you'll get 3 A.I companions.
  • The beta will include three quests.
  • There's a cooking system where you and your party collect ingredients during the quest to cook them afterward.
  • There's a thing called Meteorshards that sounds like a currency to unlock new quests.
  • You can create camps to meet up with friends.
  • You can take photographs.
  • Interact with other players using preset chat messages. Also supports voice chat.

Where's the music from the trailer from?

Also 150GB? lol nevermind, I had most of my fill from the PS4.

Edit: Ah, song is from the credits. Makes sense, pretty sure I skipped them lol.

I know that I've heard it in game, since I was looking for it after that, so I've done quick research and now I have some proof. It is being played as the last song when you open credits from the main menu, which explains why I was thinking it was somewhere around the end of the game :)

In spoiler tag because it was recorded after finishing the game.

edit: beaten :)
Okay, forgot it was used in the title screen credits, but the actual credits playing when you finish the game don't play this song, though.

Whilst this is a fair estimation of what people like and dislike, you'll never have a consensus because people have wildly varyin opinions. The general consensus is not reflective of everyone but it's there to give you an idea of what people think on average.

Which is that it's an 8/10 game.

Ohh, really? Thought the other credits had one of the Florence & the Machines songs, but maybe I'm not remembering right.

It does. The full credits go through three songs. First, Too Much is Never Enough. Second, Somnus. Third, Prelude.

You see this design at the opening of the game.

So it's just a limited special mode?

No. It's a full blown multiplayer mode with single-player story missions. Was pretty fun to play in the closed online test a few weeks ago and you can create and customize your character with one of the best character creation options so far this gen. Besides Black Desert.

That song in the trailer, the prelude thing. Is that on the soundtrack? I bought the soundtrack on google play and couldn't find that song. Anyone know the official name and if its on there?

Better than Blood and Wine, About equal to Doom.

Yeah it's a personal problem, you don't like it great but there's lots of people that think it's a great game. So opinions and all that but the game is far from garbage.

I said vanilla Diablo 3 was garbage (not a controversial statement), don't go conflating criticisms in defense of FFXV when I'm explaining why people would sink significant time into a game they end up not liking aside from "personal problems".

Thanks, that gives me a good idea.

Too bad, no one except Bandai-Namco seems to be into creating action RPGs with full coop.

Technically Dark Souls isn't "full coop" as it forcibly unsummons people after certain criteria are met (death, boss kills), although you can get pretty close by continually re-inviting people. But we know the games aren't really fully designed around this, as evidenced by boss AI that doesn't change when more than one player is present.

I'll probably sit tight til Volta for this.

I can't wait to see some 1080, 1440 and 4K benchmarks with all NV gameworks stuff cranked up.

I have to imagine there's no way, despite their recommended, you could even do 4K30 on a 1080Ti with all that stuff cranked up.

1080Ti as recommended, what a hot mess this is going to be.
It could be, but just having high recommended specs doesn't indicate that.

Personally, I think it's nice that S-E seems to have moved significantly beyond just offering the console version at higher resolution for this game.

1080Ti as recommended, what a hot mess this is going to be. Not even going to comment on the ridiculous 170GB.

This isn't even worth a steam sale.

FFXV can't serve as a doormat to Blood and Wine.

That's the recommended card for 4k graphics. I'm sure the recommended specs for 1080p/60fps will be significantly lower than a 1080 TI.

Besides the nvidia exclusive tech looks like the main improvements are IQ. Which they would've done an overhaul for the skin and eye shaders like the 2014 build. Would put this ahead of other games for quite a while in terms of character rendering.

As someone who somewhat enjoyed the original game on release, I'd highly recommend this. Especially with all the post-release improvements and patches. It's not anywhere near the best in the series, in actual fact I'd place it somewhere in the bottom half of the rankings. But it is certainly a solid game with hours worth of content.
