The Humble Monthly Bundle

I shold have skipped this month. Wuppo might be okay. Nongünz I don't know. The rest doesn't interest me.

Next early unlock isn't for me either, and it is kind of low value again, so it might be the first bundle I'm skipping.

I think Nongunz might be one of the worst games I've ever tried. I get what they are trying to do I really do. But my free time is very limited and making me figure out literally everything is awful. This is like taking the worst part of Dark Souls for me and multiplying it several times. I had to alt+tab out to even quit the game.

Yeah, I mean I like what they were aiming for and the sprite work is p cool, but the controls were frustrating and having to alt+tab quit like you said because the game wasn't recognizing the input was just amazing. I think the only thing in a Humble Monthly I've disliked more was A2Be (which was an original,) but that was completely broken on release and the patched version I tried later still had visual bugs 15 minutes in and eventually ctd when I tried to open a closet.

Not that it helps now, but to quit you have to bring up the menu, highlight the quit option(a card with an X) and *hold* the confirm button (A by default on 360 pad) when selecting the option. It will take you to a room, walk to the bed and select it to exit.

I walk over to the bed in the clunkiest of ways and nothing happens. The only prompt that pops up is to play the guitar. I walk to the foot of the bed and no prompts pop up. I have to bring up task manager to exit the game every time.

I have been subscribed to the Monthly bundles since the beginning (Legend of Grimrock II as a preorder in October 2015, and first bundle at the start of November 2015) and I have decided to have a look at the games which I have discovered thanks to the subscription, and then played for a decent amount of timeI (at least ~10 hours). In chronological order:
  1. Towerfall Ascension
  2. Nuclear Throne
  3. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty
  4. JumpJet Rex
  5. Rocket League
  6. Cthulu Realms
  7. Poi
  8. Hacknet
  9. RIVE
  10. Tumblestone
  11. Slime-San
I have to give a longer try at the following games:
  • Trails in the Sky
  • Hyper Light Drifter
  • all the games in the August bundle, especially Pillars of Eternity.
Overall, while the bundles are great value, I don't know if it is worth being subscribed all the time, because I could just have bought the few games which I actually ended up playing.

Just did a couple trades here. That worked perfect...skipped traded old and other bundle duplicate keys to get games I wanted from last bundle.

Far from the best method of quitting for sure. Seems you have to find just the right spot to interact with the bed. The icon is even in a similar spot to that of the guitar further leading to confusion. Took a fair few tries myself before it finally worked. I get what they are going for, but perhaps a simple quit option is in order.

Damn it! I missed last month and this month because I missed the email telling me to update my payment. And these were some great games too.

I could resub again, but I'm not too keen on KF2, especially since I have it on my PS4.

For me it's

Games I've played and liked:
Flat Heroes
Lethal league
Dirt Rally
Rocket League
Wuppo

Games I will try later:
ABZU
A2Be - A Science Fiction Narrative
Alien Isolation (Maybe)
Beyond eyes
Event[0]
Flame in the Flood
GoNNER
Gunmetal Arcadia Zero
Kathy Rain
Kero Blaster
Legend of Grimrock 2
Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky
SOMA
Stardew Valley
SUPERHOT

Not really worth it. Only reason I'm still subscribed is because of the trades I've made which gave me a lot of Steam wallet funds. In the first year the early unlock gave me 8-12€ in Steam wallet alone. It's hard to pass up such a deal. They've gotten worse value vise though.

Does Humble usually show the non-discount price on PayPal when buying something with the Monthly discount?

Been a while since I've bought something from the Store so I can't remember, but I was going to buy NMS following today's update (listed as £14.20 after discount and wallet funds) - however PayPal's confirmation screen before authorising the payment is showing £15.99 (the before 10% discount price), and doing the same on mobile too.

Is this normal?

Where have you been executing your trades?

I have been using key resellers, but am starting to get uneasy with their general shadiness.

just tested. this is happening with me too. i've never noticed it before so i would assume its a glitch, and that if paypal is saying theyre going to charge you 15, thats whats going to happen. perhaps someone braver than me can place an order to really test it.

edit: just checked their twitter support, at least one other person has brought it up and they say they're looking in to it. so definitely hold off on purchasing for now

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on their Twitter and wait to purchase for now - there's a couple of days left on the deal so no rush. Thanks for checking.

Hell, I buy games outside the bundles that I don't get to immediately (if ever), but I just look at it as a way to support companies I like, and I like Humble. $12 or less a month is chump change anyway. I pay more for HBO Now, and that's just for 1 or 2 shows.

I'm thinking about signing up for Humble Monthly today, because every time the full list is revealed for any given month, I kick myself for not being a part of it.

Can I ask you current subscribers, though: I have no interest in Killing Floor 2. Since this is the headline game can I pretty much expect that KF2 is going to be the biggest or only AAA game I'd get for this bundle? There could very well be some indie games I enjoy more, but KF2 is going to be the only big game, probably -- is that right?

Edit: Also, I know I can probably search for this, but I'm at work. When will the rest of the games for August get revealed or become available to me should I subscribe?

there is a chance of another bigger game with KF2 also a chance of a more indie focus hard to say.

most months have had a noteworthy game besides the headliner.

the rest of the games would be available the first friday of the new month.

if you don't want KF2 you can trade it for another game or sell it in the buy sell trade thread of make a friend happy.

depending on what you are sad you missed out on in previous bundles some of us in this thread might be willing to trade for it.

beyond that if you are signing up for the first time you could see if a friend has signed up for it and ask for their referral link.

you won't get anything for it, but it will net you friend a cool $5 to spend on humble bundle which makes buying stuff like sonic mania more awesome :P

Thanks for the reply. If you want to DM me your referral link I'll use that to sign up, if you'd like.

I've subscribed ever since Humble Monthly started and out of the ~9-10 months so far, i've felt like i've only been "burned" once so to speak and that was mostly because I already had the bigger titles of that month. Some months have been better than others, but i've felt like i've gotten my moneys worth. I haven't decided if i'll keep my subscription active after mine lapses(I paid for the 1 year deal) but overall my experience has been mostly good with the service. YMMV of course

Every month so far has had something that has surprised me.

We (usually) won't know what any of the unlocks are until the first Friday of every month when they unlock. I think you have until the last second to purchase the bundle, too? I've subscribed for over a year now and can't recall the cutoff time.

Go for it, man.

Volantia is the humble monthly original next month.

You beat me to it once again!

I guess last month I didn't actually cancel my subcrailtiin but I paused it. I guess I should have paid close attention. Just got charged today and now I have access to Killing Floor 2. Not even sure if that game is up my alley.

Hmm. I'm working overseas next month and I'll only have my 2013 MacBook Air. I cancelled my Humble Monthly last month, but this Humble Original actually piques my interest, and looks simple enough that it'd run...

Yes, but do they mean "sneak peak" as in you're getting a portion of the game like the Hollow Knight sneak peak, or is the sneak peak the video and tweet and the full game is in the bundle?

I have an hour left to pull the trigger on this month, and I'm so conflicted.

I know that some of my most highly-desired indie games have already gone out in months past, so I'm not sure what could be revealed that I really want. I'm not particularly hyped about Killing Floor 2. I just don't want to regret not diving in.

Ugh, first world probs...

Edit: I pulled the trigger. Hoping for something neat. Will probably be willing to trade my Killing Floor 2 key if anyone is interested.

Yeah. I already have KF2 but I wouldn't mind giving it away. It's a great game IMO. I wish I knew what at least two of the other games were going to be. I'll probably end up skipping this one and hopefully, the game(s) next month are awesome.

Honestly surprised we got Rise of Tomb Raider as a Humble Monthly game before Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Only thing that interested me in this latest bundle is Banner Saga 2.

Meh, didn't miss much. Gonna pass on next month too, not a game that interests me much

Banner Saga 2 was given on Twitch Prime already, so...

I guess I shouldn't have bought Stories Untold for $5 a few months back, and Momodora is the only game I really want that I don't already own. Oh well, RottR will keep me subscribing for another month.
