Yup. I believe they also spent $10 million on production of Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 in the first 6 months of this year.

They have to announce the game, i mean, the gameplay reveal at some big event, TGA or E3, by the end of 2018? Probably, but i think, Spring 2019 is a secure bet in my opinion.
I think Gwent will be available for PC, One and PS4 by the end of 2018 and they will start porting the game on mobile devices.
Even if they are two different games, they wont release both games in the same year.

We know for sure that Marcin Iwinski said he really liked how Bethesda handled the Fallout 4 announcement and release.

Personally, I expect an announcement next year (May/June being the most probable period) and the release set for spring 2019 (May 19th, 2019 possibly).

- Witcher 3 - 4k patch coming to consoles in a few days

- Nielubowicz (CFO) said that there are 100 people working on the Witcher - followed by daggers look from Kicinski (CEO). It may be that he confused Gwent with The Witcher, but he didn't correct himself. Perhaps they're doing early work on the next Witcher? That's just speculation.

Good for them, i'm playing The Witcher 3 right now, (have 1&2 but never played them) and you can tell it's a great game were they invested their souls into it.

It's great to see your efford paid off.

They've said it's a bigger, more complex game (it has different classes for starters) and considering it's using a new engine, it's safe to say it'll be a better looking game. Bring on the rain and neon.
 
So hyped for Cyberpunk. Loved the Witcher trilogy (my favorite RPG series really) and with every game it felt like they were only improving and honing their skills further.

And now applying everything they learnt to an IP they're hella enthusiastic about, and its an open world Cyberpunk RPG. Whew.

I'll be honest, seeing Anthem made me way more hyped for 2077's graphics. With all due repect for Bioware, if they really managed to do something like that, I can only imagine what CDPR could come up with...

Unlikely, considering how popular it is.

Also it feels like they'd be spreading themselves too thin with three IP's to work with, especially with games as big and technically challenging to make as the Witcher and Cyberpunk.
 
Even if they don't continue with The Witcher franchise, they could make a new RPG in a similar setting with a complete new character.

They have 550 people working at CDPR. We know that 350 of them worked on Cyberpunk 2077 as of few months ago, and another 100 on Gwent. This leaves us with 100 more people. It may be that Nielubowicz spilled the beans by mistake and they are doing early prep work for the next Witcher, or he just confused Gwent with it. In any case, CDPR is supposed to release 2 AAA titles by 2021 and 1 smaller game, which we know is Gwent.

I mean, you also have jobs like janitors, accounting and so on. The non-development jobs.
 
What ever happened to that rumour CD Projekt was defending against a hostile takeover? I vaguely recall they were thinking of some form of protection but not sure if that progressed further?

At present, about 550 people work on various projects at CD PROJEKT RED and about 150 at GOG.

Sounds about right. They've got a good number and the talent that's already underway in 2077 and probably have a small team in pre-production on the next Witcher game already (or at least an outline). We all know it's going to come eventually, the question is what kind of story/narrative they will follow post Geralt and their own design philosophy next.

I like their internal engine and they definitely got the chops to keep making it "bigger, better, and more badass" in every whistle and chime there is currently on a rendering stand point.

The advantage, boskee can agree on, is they've rightfully earned a level of prestige with their success and respect to its customers and have reap the benefits to be in a solvent position to invite more talent from different fields to come forward with some of the pre worries of moving to a different developer already gone from this climate with the standard AAA gaming market.

As long as the core vision stays at CD and their passion then it's only ever going to keep getting better and more grandeur from here with their software.

Hell, Gwent is a great move as a good continuous revenue if that hits off at the bat if they wish to take their time polishing or being innovative. They've already got GOG in the background already as a good income as well.

All of us can wait without worry on their products because we know they will be of quality. To me they are up there with Rockstar and Bethesda when it comes to waiting for their products.

This is very tiny :p

Mateusz Kanik was Game Director from the project's very beginning, then in June 2016 he mysteriously became "Design Director", whatever that means... and again it changed last month, and now he is "Principal Designer".

Really wonder what's truly happening behind the curtains.
 
i find it incredible that witcher 3 still has about 20k going into the 30k concurrent on steam alone still. the game is still selling well.

What's generating revenue for them right now? Is the tail on W3 really that long? That's incredible.

Also, I'll keep asking in these financial threads until someone that knows can tell me, but do they capitalize software dev costs up front?

That would certainly help bolster profits when they're likely shelling out a ton for salaries as they're theoretically in high gear on CP2077 dev. I'm only familiar with GAAP process there, no idea what IFRS guidance is.

Good on them. They seem to be a poster child developer of hardwork eventually meaning success and doing the right things from a business perspective. They probably easily could have chased dollars and done W4 if they really wanted to just cash in, and have chosen not to.

Things can change but they've mentioned it will be less expansive but much denser (more enterable buildings/details) which kinda makes sense for a game based in a cyberpunk city rather than a fantasy continent.
 
So they are going public in the 15th or are they already public and are moving to a different market?

Playing through The Witcher 3 in 1440p @ ~90-120 FPS right now w/ G Sync. It's god damn magical. I'd finished the base game on PS4 before, but never got to the DLCs. Almost at a high enough level to begin.

This is one company that will instantly get a pre-order with no second thoughts. Really can't wait for Cyberpunk - love that setting and you know it'll be given an incredible depth of detail.

I've also just started the books and although I'm very early in The Last Wish, it's really enjoyable already. Geralt is an all time great protagonist.

And here's the share price of CDPR today. They gained almost 10%, and their market cap increased by over $200 million after they published the report yesterday, and for the first time in CDP's history hit 90PLN per share (~$25)

I wouldn't be surprised on this considering with GOG and other related services. When they have all the right cards in place and recurring strong IPs and software after a few years with the right staff in each part then that will be the natural course of action.
 
Witcher 4 is confirmed!? I know they was another game they plan on releasing before 2021 but never thought it'd be Witcher. As much as I love The Witcher I don't want a new one just yet. They've been working on those games since ... 2004? 2021 seems a bit too soon for me. I was expecting about 10 years. Cyberpunk isn't just 2077 but will be a series of games.

I suppose at the rate they are going now they could afford to make Witcher 4 alongside 2077.

CDPR is the studio. CD Projekt is the company that owns both CDP Red + GOG. so wouldn't CDP be the publisher?
 
I wish other companies in the industry would take inspiration from these guys. DRM free games, free dlc, huge expansion packs that are are very well priced. They deserve the success.

Same. I'd love to see other studios take a similar approach. I still can't believe the value of the expansion pass. I paid £20 for it and got easily 70 hours out of it. Most "full games" cost £40-60 and you're lucky to get anywhere near that amount of time out of it.
 
Six years is plenty of enough time from Witcher 3 to 4 (heck maybe Seven if any delays for quality and tech/staff related reasons) as that will give a good rotation cycle on Cyberpunk and Witcher than compared to Bestheda with the long waits due to the size of the studio, etc.

The thing is, they're independent. Most of the things we find scummy on the industry are the publisher's fault. CDPR is almost technically indie.
 
Consoles have really opened CD-Project Red's fortunes, this generation has been very good to them. I hope their next project, they pay particular attention to bringing a more polished release to consoles at launch and beyond...
