If someone clearly states that they may not be familiar with the culture or issue at hand, and they ask a question to gain some understanding, maybe try to educate them or point them toward some resources like some other posters did instead of jumping down their throat or trying to silence them out of hand and making yourselves look insufferable. for me, context does not matter in regards to racial slurs unless used in a history class. I a not going to destroy someone for it being used out of context, but again, you should atleast not dismiss it outright. my original post compared the two people only to wonder what both of them actually thought in the end.

Every EU country has different racist slurs of course and in their own language. They also have different history contexts and sensibilities. Applying US context to entire different countries doesn't make sense.
