Really hope more studios follow suit in Campo Santo's footsteps. Like I get that it's beneficial to have your content basically advertised to millions but it shouldn't be at the cost of selling your soul to have a POS like PDP shilling your work.

Hasn't he been to America, have a gigantic American fan base, been on American TV watched by millions of Americans? He should have gotten the hint by now.

It wouldn't have exactly smoothed the situation over - cause that's not a word you should use "by accident". But damn, at least take some time to just apologize for it. Not just laugh it off and blame it on forgetting that you were live.

Edit: I don't know what responsible parent would let their young kids watch this guy.

No joke. The fact that he forgot he was livestreaming tells you all you need to know about how freely he uses that word in private. He's scum.

How has this site been going for this long and these types of threads still lead to dozens of people getting banned?

I mean it's good that it's happening but fuck man, have they learned nothing here?

Gaming side has a lot of untapped potential.

The fake or perhaps real " I'm black and this doesn't offend me" trolls always get me. This might not offend YOU, but it offends millions of people as well as your ancestors. This offends people who have went through and still go through systematic as well as overt oppression on a daily basis.

He was a cool guy back when he only did playthrough videos. I thoroughly enjoyed his to the moon videos.

It seems like his fame finally got to him and he mix in with the wrong crowd.

Gaming and OT have a huge disparity when it comes to this stuff. It's unfortunate (and I'm sure tough on the mods who have to monitor the threads constantly), but at least threads like this clean house a bit.

Gamers throw a hissy fit over someone's ability to play a video game but a celebrity with millions of young followers being repeatedly racist is no big thing

Seriously gaming culture is so fucked up in so many ways and it has huge issues.

Not trying to justify the 'But Europe!...' people but honestly I doubt more than 20% of the people in Spain (where I'm from) know the true history and context of the n-word and would be surprised if there weren't people using it right now without any ill intent just because it's so prevalent in media and music.

This is definitely something that's not taught in schools here.

It's really funny seeing the type of people who would have been collectively shitting on this guy for stupid, benign reasons(he screams on camera) a few years ago suddenly pulling out all stops to defend him.

And it's because they were(or still are) almost 100% certainly calling other people racial and homophobic slurs anonymously on 4chan.

I think PDP uploaded a new vid titled "Its all over!" Didnt click it tho

He is raging about celebrities and kids "living in a bubble" blaming natural disasters on trump.
"Everything is trumps fault" he says sarcastically.
Basically it's a video you would expect from info wars or breitbart or that idiot cowering in a Battersea bunker, what's his name, prison planet.

Anyone who has played online gaming knows throughout the game emotions get the best of people. The dude's worth millions and will wake up tomorrow without a worry or a penalty.

Has PewDiePie fessed up to it?

The worst thing is he isn't even worth it. He isn't funny, he is obnoxious. He's a fucking gaming youtuber, he's less than worthless.
Yup. Saw a few minutes of a video of his about 2 years ago, thought him an unfunny tryhard.

Seems like I was wrong.

He's an unfunny racist tryhard.

Most Spaniards don't have 50 million subs from every country though

As far as these 2 'defences' go I have this to say:

1. PDP getting the benefit of the doubt because English isn't his native tongue? Errrrrrrrrrrrrr no. No no.

2. Yes I do think the n with a hard r ending word is more often heard in America than the countries PDP has lived in. People here know what it means, of course, but as an example John Terry is a horrible thug and lost his England captaincy because he racially abused a black footballer, but he didn't use the n word because it just isn't used here even in the circles he grew up in.

But if PDP's best point in his inevitable apology vid is ignorance due to language and cultural differences then that is a very weak defence indeed. He uses that word a lot, and we've just seen his true colours.

I feel like early in his career when he was trying to manicure his image he wasn't all that bad.

He toned down his use of offensive terms, he started donation large amounts to charity, etc.

But it didn't take him too long to cast aside that facade now that he was already as popular as he was going to be. He decided to drop the pretense and just act however he wanted to.

Maybe the money freed him to be 'himself', but I doubt his awful personality was the result of his popularity and cash.

The word nigger is not prevalent in media and music.

Has PewDiePie fessed up to it?

Yeah, my first instinct when I'm frustrated isn't race-hate - and I have a lousy temper.

Not surprising, spain like most western countries use benign neglect to ignore the significant impact they caused with racism. And the n word isn't used in music or media

Is that really an excuse? Who shouts racial slurs as a reaction to getting angry?

Sometimes I wonder if I'm in the minority for never using them.

I'm Spanish too and even if young people here are more used to the hip hop context (which is true) you just don't use the n-word in a clearly pejorative way if you are not a racist asshole. Come on. Ignorance of context has its limits.

I skipped around the video and only watched about ten seconds. It's pdp complaining about celebrities politicizing Irma.

It's a conversation for another day, but maybe if he were, I don't know, working minimum wage and living in Houston he might start to think about how political decisions and poverty can make or break whether you're able to even make it out of a natural disaster alive.

It was with a hard "errr", where is that word prevelant in music and media?

Just don't say any racist words. That's it. It's simple. If you're known to rage when you're losing then work on not having that word in your vocabulary. It's more respectful to me when I see someone get mad and not have to resort to those words and then say that "my anger got the best of me".

The only valid EU excuse is:

1- He's portuguese
2- Just Learned the word, and doesnt know thats different in any other language.

The word "negro" doesnt have a bad meaning i think only in portuguese Its the usual word used by government, books, media etc, the color Black "preto" is offensive, but even then when you say "negro" like it's a bad thing, Its racist even in portuguese.

He's not portuguese and lives in England, fuck him.

Most Spaniards don't have 50 million subs from every country though

Yup. Again, not trying to justify/excuse PDP's behaviour or minimise his responsibility.

The word nigger is not prevalent in media and music.

Sorry, maybe prevalent was not the most appropriate word. It is present in some styles of music (or at least it was a couple of years ago, I don't listen to that kind of music) and TV, though.

It was with a hard "errr", where is that word prevelant in music and media?

I don't really see a difference between the -er and -a variants. Don't really understand why someone would be OK with one but not the other.

I'm Spanish too and even if young people here are more used to the hip hop context (which is true) you just don't use the n-word in a clearly pejorative way if you are not a racist asshole. Come on. Ignorance of context has its limits.

I definitely have some friends/acquaintances that have used the word because they thought it was hip or cool without having a clue of its background until I told them. Anecdotal sure, but don't think they at the only ones.

PDP is also a symptom of this kind of shit in gaming culture where a bunch of white boy edgelords scream racist and sexist shit over their mics to oppresss and harass others on Xbox live or PSN or some steam game.

Gaming culture is so bigoted and I mainly blame the companies for grooming such an environment where it's okay to act like this. Pewdiepie is he same type who is groomed from being white in a white supremacist space.it doesn't help either that he is a rich youtuber who is among bigots as his peers and that he has repeatedly shown to be a typical alt right white boy (at least in a pseudo capacity)

Implicit in the "virtue signaling" claims that keep popping up is that everyone who is upset about this is completely disconnected and doesn't really give a shit. Like it's absurd to think there are plenty of people posting on this forum who are actually black or are actually friends of black people who don't think it's okay.

Why even act like the term "virtue signaling" is anything other than sociopathic 1337-speak for people giving a shit about others and expressing it.

Anyone who has played online gaming knows throughout the game emotions get the best of people.

Well even for an offline game I spent 30 minutes the other day on a Rayman Origins level only to have 349 lums by the end. Boy was I mad, but I did not use this word or any other word that would offend someone.

That excuse shouldn't even be considered for a second.

Uh I think he probably been using N-word before his fame. Racism is taught, no wrong crowd of friends could make a person say nigger; unless the person a closet racist, or grown up with racist family/culture.

He's grown man, who makes tons of money from YouTube, and have fans across the world. Dude should have known better, and he's a piece of shit regardless.

It was with a hard "errr", where is that word prevelant in music and media?

Most people here is not aware of the deeper, uglier connotations and origins of the word (even though it's clearly identified as an insult), much less of the difference between the one with hard r and the one without. Most people would think they are the same.
