I mean he said the hard "R" version of it, he might've had some leeway if he said the "A" version of it

There's no defending this

EDIT: I'm black and I'm saying that the leeway he would've had would be him saying in a apology "oh I was just quoting *insert rapper here*" and he would have had an easier time of getting away with it, it still would have been bad and racist of course but there would have been a tinge "oh well yeah i get it"

I have seen it happen before

who is the shithead he is playing with that goes on about how anyone who says they care is just pretending blah blah blah?

(which PDP agrees with)

There's no leeway hard R or not. If you aren't black, just don't say it. It's not terribly complicated.

Oh but I am black

people are gonna defend this loser anyway, it just would've been easier if he said nigga

but since he said nigger people are jumping through flaming hoops defending this guy

that's my point

EDIT: to further clarify for example "oh he's just a fan of hip hop" or "rappers say it why can't he" or "at least he said nigga instead of nigger" or "he has a black friend that let's him say it"

Racists seem to be baffled by the fact that there are white people who are offended when others are mistreated. Or that there are white people who don't give a fuck about white supremacy.

Racists are very agitated when whites want equal treatment, part of their quarrel is with anybody who wants to unite and mix with other ethnicities.

It's crazy

The thing with idiots and racists is when black people reprimand them, they're just exaggerating and complaining. When white people reprimand them, they're being disingenuous and PC.

There literally is no winning because they think everybody is as shitty as them but just hiding it.

I don't know how many times this needs to be repeated, but if you're white, don't fucking say that word in any derivative. It's that simple.

A white saying nigger is arguably worse than nigga if you want talk semantics as white people don't usually pronounce the slang term when trying to offend or oppress. These days, nigga is used to emulate, and nigger is used to oppress.

He said it in a pejorative way. Even if he didn't say the hard R version it would still be wrong. It was meant as a slur the way it came out of his mouth regardless.

But I've just got this treasure trove of reasons why it's alright for me to say it. Ive got oldies but goodies like "black people use it" and "it's just a word." I've got full on stupid like "its meaning has changed." I got comparisons to a fictional villain who actually isn't that bad when you compare his actions to how Southern whites treated blacks when the word was en vogue. Clearly you don't understand how my privilege allows me do whatever the fuck I want, minorities' opinions be damned.

What the hell with this sentence

"In February, Disney said that while Mr Kjellberg had a reputation for being provocative and irreverent, some of the videos he made were "inappropriate"."

Isn't that like saying "while he might be a bit edgy actually he is sometimes awful" ?

Like you expect the sentence to recover, and instead it gets worse.

I mean, yeah. That pretty much sums up Pewds entire career.

Twitter bots showing their ass. Black people speaking on it get it with "stop giving the word so much power" and "you are the real racist"

Oh you missed the one about Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder as well

Though that is more of a blackface go to I suppose.

I think it's very important that people at the forefront of gaming culture don't use language that promotes and normalizes this kind of language or behavior.

The culture in online spaces is a reason why lots of people turn public chat or voice communication off as soon as possible when going online. Terrible slurs and comments are sadly the expectation in online games, and removing the positive voices of love and acceptance only furthers the normalization of discrimination to new users of that social space.

I've been a part of that terrible culture way back when I was a teenager, and while I wish I could go and take back the repulsive things I said, I can't. During that period the usage of bad slurs was normalized as acceptable behavior to me, and took years to overcome.
I hope this doesn't make me irredeemably racist or homophobic in everyone's eyes here, although I understand if people would view me that way.

It's good to see people take strong stances against this kind of behavior. It helps to slowly change the gaming community to something more positive. I feel if more people continue to speak out appropriately against this kind of language it will help spur the sustainable change that is needed. It tells the young people of the community currently growing up that this kind of language and behavior is unacceptable.

I must be the only one here who has no idea who this guy is.

He's easily one of the biggest if not the biggest streamer out there. He and his ilk have a massive cultural influence, especially over young teens.

There, did the Google search for you. Now do you have anything relevant to say?

I'm stunned that 10 years later people still don't get the incredibly obvious level of anti-racist commentary that film was working at, and how no, it being acceptable doesn't mean it's ok for some asshole to say something racist.

It's displacement of responsibility. Stop being offended by my racism. Don't dress so revealing. It can't be me, I'm a nice guy.

As disgusting as his comment, this will end up being a good thing. Because it's certainly outing the real idiots in society. Anyone that thinks this is just a word is a fucking moron.

If there is one thing I hate more than anything in this world, it's snooty fucking privileged people with no empathy for those with a lesser voice in society and the people defending this shit exemplify that attitude 100%. Fuck you all very much.

And I'm super glad mods are stomping out the idiots over on gaming side. Fucking infuriating

I love how many people in places elsewhere have to go so far out of their way to say just how much they don't care. Like, post after post of people proclaiming just how little they care. They care so little that they go out of their way to find every posting of this story just so they can tell everyone how little it matters.

Is this like a Purge scenario?

I honestly believe a Purge like scenario would happen if it was real. Racist, hate-fillled people are real and they are among us. They don't even need a legitimize platform to speak up and act in real life, imagine what would happen if they had that.

Fuck pewdiepie and every other little YouTuber cunt who defends him. I used to like Ethan and Hila too, but fuck if they can't grow a spine for the first time in their lives and speak up against him.
