If, for example, the google engineer's video were flagged as adult abrasive behavior, then the grand majority of advertisers would pull out of monetization with his channel, something happening to a lot of youtubers who do video game stuff because games contain "violent content". We're at the point now where the coke's of the world don't want to have their ads against racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic content...but Google algorhythmic solution isn't good enough.

The worst case, but most likely scenario here is that google's solution will be classifying all gaming videos in one category that allows advertisers to simply say, "I don't want my ads on gaming videos period." That would be the nuclear fallout of this situation.

So while the google engineer might make a few bucks, maybe enough to supplant a few bills or help with a vacation, I doubt he'd be rich.

Like other have said, don't hate the game, all games have a some toxicity on their communities after all. PUBG is great fun, find some fellas to play it and it's truly a blast. And yes, shut off in-game voice chat inmediately.

Haven't read the whole thread because it's massive....

But one of the most telling thing is that he said it so naturally. When I'm mad I'll say "son of a bitch" or something, but he most likely uses the N word so often that it's become a natural reaction. Yes, he did realize that he said it right after, but that doesn't excuse him using it.

I don't know how people can defend this. He's a fucking adult who knows what the word means. He's not some 12 year old playing Call of Duty who says it because it's "cool" and their friends are saying it.

No doubt a lot of YouTubers will defend him and claim it's a media witch hunt or some other excuse. When you have such a massive following and are the face of YouTube, every little mistake is going to be examined under a microscope. It's the price of fame.

I would like to see YouTube demonetize or do SOMETHING to his videos/channel. If my videos I made about helping people with depression are demonetized because it isn't "ad friendly", then someone saying the N word should be punished.
