I do think Animal Crossing will be in this Direct in some way. This has been the longest time without any news from an AC game.

I don't expect any AC in this Direct. Though I will predict an AC Direct at some point early next year, similar to the Fire Emblem Direct, announcing the mobile game to be launched a few weeks later, and then a new game for Switch in 2018.

Mario Maker Maker. Make your own level building game!

Or... Mario Maker Wii-U for Switch! You play as a mysterious entity controlling someone while they play the Wii-U version of Mario Maker. Your Switch screen has the view of a Wii-U gamepad and you can still access the Miiverse.

Real talk tho, I just want Bayo 1 + 2, or if I have to choose, just Bayo 2

I'd love Bayo 2 just because I never got to play it on Wii-U! I bought the darn thing but was just a fool who never got around to it.

Ditto! Given those rumors about a Zelda game for mobile, I'm kind of expecting them to reveal that at tomorrow's Apple conference. It'd make way more sense to delay AC to 2018 and launch it with or near a new series entry. As popular as the series is, it doesn't have the instant brand recognition that Zelda and Mario do to warrant a place on stage with Apple.

Wishlist

-Xenoblade 2 delayed to Q2 2018
-Animal Crossing minigame collection for Switch
-Metroid Prime 4 developed by Comcept
-F-Zero themed F2P clicker game, New 2DS exclusive
-SNES Classic Mini production has already ended
-Pewdiepie amiibo

If that happens, I'm pretty sure it will unlock a Shout in Skyrim ;)

Add me to the list of hopefuls for Bayo 1+2 port. I think id also be happy with a Hyrule Warriors port as well. One or the other. Plus release dates for XenoC 2 and Skyrim.

Thats what im hoping for.

I expect:

• some info on Odyssey
• ARMS into (Lola Pop and maybe the next char?)
• Rabbids DLC
• Ballad of the Champions info
• "Please buy Skyrim"
• Kirby 3DS
• Rocket League Nintendo Content trailer
...and some more stuff.

Uhm I listed only Japanese games... so let's throw in also

South park game
An Ubi art game
A couple of Telltale games
An Arkham trilogy port
Injustice 2 goty
Fallout goty

My expectations

- Excitebike themed racetrack annouced for the Universal Studios Theme park
- Virtual Console finally arrives on Switch (Starting with Virtual Boy games)
- Nintendo unveils their new fitness program, featuring holographic yoga sessions from the Wii Fit Trainer in select locations.
- New partnership with Kellogg to create Wario themed cereal called Wari-O's
- New Youtuber themed Amiibo line featuring Chuggaaconroy, Egoraptor, and The Jwitz
- Metal Gear Acid Collection heading to Nintendo Switch and 3DS
I know this is satire but I'd actually be excited for that!

I figured we'd be getting at least one more direct before we get into the holiday season, but still hype as always! My class ends at 6 on the day so I should be able to catch it live if not maybe miss a few minutes of it.

If there are Bayonetta ports I'd buy them again lol. Especially for Bayonetta 2.

Is there any substance to this hope? I love TOV

For now there's no indication that it's for anything but the Switch (and in that case I'd expect it to show up here) and for a several years now September/October for Tales has typically been where they announce "we don't really know what to expect from this but let's just throw it out there and see what happens"-type stuff rather than anything they expect to generate a lot of excitement from their Western or Japanese fanbases. Previous September/October announcements include Abyss 3DS, Innocence R, Hearts R, and Tales of the Heroes.

We'll see what happens but I'd keep expectations low for anything noteworthy...

If I go in expecting a Screen, I will probably come out satisfied.

I do so badly want a tease of the Fire Emblem Switch game if only to get an impression of the visual style they're going with (like modeling, whether Hidari is returning or someone else new is drawing the character art).

I wouldn't mind Nintendo bringing over Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD. I want all them Zeldas in one place.

I am so happy about the timing of this direct. Right as I finish work! My phone wifi allowance is gonna cry but totally worth it!

I forgot that Ubisoft said they were announcing more games soon.

ZombiU Switch port
South Park SoT port, SBW announcement
Steep
Rayman 1 remake, done with UbiArt engine

Here's my prediction list of what I want/what I think is likely:

-A very modest, slightly disappointing VC announcement. Focus on N64 (some with re-worked control for single Joy-Con play with some gimmicky name, focusing on Smash64, MK64, and GoldenEye) and GBA (they localize the first GBA Fire Emblem game). High-profile SNES games are conspicuously absent, though there is a $60 bundle of the games in the NES Classic
-Block of Wii U ports, one of them is available digitally that day: TMS, Bayonetta Double Pack, DKC TF (originally DKCR is on VC), and Super Mario Maker
-Line of Arms amiibo - three to begin with. Ribbon Girl, Spring Man, and... Min-Min?
-Champions Ballad release date, gameplay info but no footage
-Mario Odyssey Season Pass
-Big DLC for a game we don't expect - maybe new Splatoon 2 single-player content? Comes with Pearl/Marina amiibo announcement
-Update on either Kirby Switch, Yoshi Switch, or Prime 4, but only one of them
-5 minutes of Xenoblade 2
-3 new indie partner games
-Either Smash Switch or Retro's new game.

Realistic expectation:
- Xenoblade 2
- Super Mario Odyssey
- BotW DLC2
- FE Warriors
- Pokken DX
- Skyrim
- ARMS DLC
- Splatoon 2 DLC
- Sonic Force
- RE Revelations Collection
- NBA 2K18
- Kirby 3DS
- M&L RPG DX
- PM USUM
- Samus Returns
- PQ2
- indies

Wish:
- Switch OS/E-shop update
- TWEWY2 3DS

Interesting, I don't remember that. Switch VR coming November 2017?
Includes a free SCD!

He mentions a cardboard.

Nah, that's him saying that he knows no inside info about Nintendo first party games like he mentioned previously.

He's sarcastically "confirming" that Mario Maker is a first party game. Nothing else. :P

Ah lol

I'm expecting some release dates and perhaps a trailer for mario, pokken, metroid and some third party. Everything else is a bonus for me.

Too early to hope for a metroid trailer?

Show me bayo 3, Nintendo.

Edit - Also I'd LOVE for the Zelda DLC to be set pre-calamity Gannon. Coming across all the ruined villages and fortresses in the full game fills my mind with what they once looked like.

I actually had not read it that way, even initially. "The next few months" is a pretty vague range though, why would something releasing, say, in April 2018 not be considered "in the next few months?"

I still think it could be referring to OS features like video capture and streaming apps.

Off the top of my head he said that the Switch wouldn't launch with a web browser or Netflix/streaming apps, leaked a couple Ubisoft games, leaked LA Noire a long time ago (and made sure to mention it was coming to all platforms, not just Switch)... He also said that Steep for Switch was cancelled but that may or may not be true at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they had internally decided to cancel it at some point (or still may).

How much is a few? Wasn't there a debate one time about that? (or was it 'couple', can't remember)

A long Direct is not an indicator of big megaton announcements. It means a lot of indies (wich is good) and 3DS stuff (wich is bad).

What if they announce .... the PS4 Streaming and PS Now for the switch ? =O

Jokes aside, do you guys think Nintendo would allow it ?

It'd be beneficial to Sony, unless they're planning to put out a Vita successor. For them, it's kind of like Microsoft Office being on a bunch of platforms. Microsoft makes money on Office regardless of where people are using it. People need a PS4 + PS4 software to do PS4 Remote Play on a Switch, so Sony shouldn't really care what platform they're Remote Playing on.

I don't think it works out as well for Nintendo, though. While I'd probably mostly use it to Remote Play the PS4 games that don't get ported to Switch (and would happily buy games like Kingdom Hearts HD and BioShock on Switch if ports were available), the ability to play these games portably without buying them for the Switch platform limits the potential those games have to sell Switch versions, even if the effect is probably minimal.

Sony won't do it because they're not keen on supporting cross-platform play this gen (except PC), and Nintendo won't do it because they want people buying software on their platform. So it won't happen.

Why is 3DS stuff bad? They've already said that they're supporting it into 2018 without any real impact on their Switch output, and we don't know a whole lot about its 2018 aside from the Atlus games.

Yeah, I'm with this guy. Any 3DS stuff that comes out now likely started development in 2015 or early 2016, if not even sooner.

We're still getting plenty of first-party Switch games, and the 3DS stuff can still conceivably get ports later on.

Oh gotcha, interesting. He said it's a long ways away but that was 8 months ago so who knows?

I thought they had confirmed it is set post Calamity Ganon, meaning after you defeat him.

Ha yeah I remember something like that. I just mean that in this case "the next few months" likely means into 2018, since otherwise they would've just said "this holiday season" or "the rest of the year". They actually tend to choose their wording carefully for these announcements.

At this stage and seeing that both MK8 Deluxe and Zelda were games developed on Wii U and got ported to Switch with Little to no effort, I would expect ports of old Wii U titles like NSMBU, DKCTF, Cpatain Toad and many others to be announced. This should allow Nintendo to focus on games tailored for the Switch on 2018. A plan like this could allow them to have brand new titles next year.
