All of this coming off Mario + Rabbids and Sonic Mania

LIFE IS GOOD

Man... I was looking at the games I have for Switch the other day and just felt amazed. Zelda: BoTW, Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, and Mario + Rabbids knocked my socks off and they all came out within the past six months on a brand new piece of Nintendo hardware! What an amazing time to be alive!

Yesterday someone mentioned bayonetta 1 and 2 for switch on the bayo ps4 xbox one rumour post also stating it will be announced Wednesday before the direct was even announced, I am guessing that was a massive lucky guess or its actually true.

I think that poster revealed later that they were high on pain killer when they made that post lol.

Still think there is a chance for a Platinium Box announcement tough

I want an Animal Crossing announcement so damn badly! Its absolutely perfect for the Switch hardware and is a no brainer as a unique multiplayer game on the system.

"By now you should be enjoying the charming and captivating Monster Hunter Stories on Nintendo 3DS family systems, and you should be glad to know there's more Monster Hunter coming your way on Nintendo Switch..."

But anyway, damn this is a big thread already, has there been anything like a leak yet? Any third party people retweeting or making vague comments on the announcement? I'm still pretty taken aback that that W101 Switch image hasn't materialized as anything yet.

LMAO

I would be happy with Monster Hunter Stories port to Switch tbh, anime is fun imo (at least the first episode), and reviews say the game is great as well. It probably won't happen this quickly after launch of the 3ds game, though, if it ever happens.

Platinum seems pretty certain, but I'm really hoping for From too. Not that we really have much of a hint of that, but they were on that list of confirmed partners, and while people like to say those lists mean nothing I'm pretty sure that's not true.

Seeing as how TGS is next week, I'm wondering if the majority of this will be dedicated to Japanese third party games and announcements (the ones being localized anyway). I don't see THAT much in the way of first party to discuss, basically just Mario, FE:W, US/UM, Kirby 3DS, dates for Xenoblade/Skyrim (if Nintendo is actually publishing) and a couple hints at early next year including Yoshi and a new announcement.

Maybe a Wii U port for November?

So we are already hyping things that definitely won't happen. Cant wait to see this thread on Wednesday. And the inevitable worst direct ever threads right after it ends-

I think this Direct will offer us a clear indication of how far we are in the first-party transition away from the 3DS, based on the nature of whatever is announced for early 2018. We know that oddball first-party titles like Sushi Striker are still on the way, but tomorrow will be a bellwether of whether the recognizable Nintendo IPs are effectively done with the system after late 2017's trinity of Metroid, Ultra Sun/Moon, and the Kirby anniversary game that is certain to be the 3DS flagbearer in the show. (Certainly not complaining if Advance Wars shows up out of nowhere, of course; after 2D Metroid it was the absence on the 3DS that was the most deeply felt, even amid the unprecedented attention lavished on its sibling Fire Emblem.) It's been clear for a long while that EPD is pretty much off the 3DS, with the known IPs this year coming from Arzest, MercurySteam, Game Freak, HAL and so on. But regardless of who the developers are, I kind of wonder if there's anything left to do with familiar Nintendo series on the system, as it seems all the active ones have already stamped their presence and moved on.

That said, like many here, it's the Switch library heading into early 2018 that is the truly tantalizing unknown, and Directs typically come with at least one significant first-party announcement not hinted at previously (sometimes including external collaborations on Nintendo IPs).

I don't think we'll see Retro's game or Prime 4; one or both are likely positioned to lead the next E3.

I'm rather bullish on hearing from Platinum at last, and practically anything out of them, from the safe and sensible (Bayonetta 2 port) to the risky and rapturous (W102) to the impossibly outlandish (my long-running fantasy of a three-way Bayonetta-like deal with Capcom to bring us Viewtiful Joe 3) would qualify as good news. Pretty much anything is fair game here, including ports of the likes of Vanquish or Revengeance that are already in the PC portfolio, or a fresh take on an existing Nintendo IP. The least interesting outcome would be a small licensed television tie-in game, but come on, Nintendo and Platinum know the audience for their work together and we'll get something more targeted than that.

Not about to venture any guesses pertaining to Animal Crossing, though I will say that so far, we don't know what the first-party mass-market flagship will be for the first half of 2018 (it's likely to be something bigger than Kirby or Yoshi in mass appeal), and there are only a few IPs that fit the bill. We all know it's coming, but it's still early days for the platform and we don't know how the full game will be aligned with the mobile app.

We can reasonably expect that something online-centric will land in the first half of 2018 to give the online service a push as it transitions into a paid model. I know many expected a port or complete edition of SSB4 to fill that role, but I think its window is passing and we're likelier to get a full SSB5 further down the life of the system. AC fits this role, as would the revival of either Wii Sports or a Mario sports series (Strikers, please). Or it could just fall entirely on the shoulders of Balloon Fight (and continued Arms/Splatoon support) for the first few months. Depending on how early the launch of the paid subscription hits, it may be too soon to hear anything to this effect.

I'm very interested to see if there will be a solution for playing Star Fox 2 without the SNES Classic, for those who can't obtain one, but something tells me we're not going to hear about it now when announcing it may inhibit demand for the SNES Classic (as though demand could possibly fall below the constrained supply, ha).

I don't expect much (or any) redundancy with the recent indie reel. Imminent releases like SteamWorld Dig 2 and Golf Story have probably received their last push before launch. Hollow Knight's developers indicated information on the progress of the Switch port would be coming this week, but they might be running on their own PR schedule for that. Actually, they've been conspicuously absent from nearly all of Nintendo's own pushes for their indie partners all year.

Platinum posted that Bayo artwork, and people pointed out that it reminded them of the Red and Blue Joycons, and that the guns formed an S. Platinum also retweeted one of those theories.

Within a few days after that, Platinum posted that Wonderful 101 image of the characters from W101 playing something on Switch, along with Wonder Director (Kamiya). While the Bayo thing was very debatable, the W101 thing was extremely blatant that they were holding Switch controllers and playing something on a Switch. I'd think W101 is probably a lock, and chances are, the Bayo thing was a teaser too.
Yeah, but I'm pretty doubtful at this point. It's been months now, and there hasn't been a peep about anything Platinum related on Switch. I hope we get something Platinum related in the Direct, but I'm not very confident that we will.

I might just skip the odysee part.

I really hate when they just spoil the fuck out of a game just before release.

Doing the same. Already regret watching the Mario Odyssey Trailer during E3.

Hopefully the other announcements will compensate.

I'm trying to keep my hype down, but I'm already thinking about Retro's new game and Sakurai's project...

In practice I don't know if I could really avert my eyes, as much as I think I've already seen too much of Odyssey going in. But it's worth remembering that Rosalina being playable in 3D World was also revealed in a Direct segment before the game launched (though that was preceded by a verbal spoiler warning).

Stay awhile and listen of a long time ago called the early 90's. You'll hardly believe it! Once in a while we even went to like a Dave and Busters but smaller and shadier. You risked it though because the games were great. But not you revolution x. Shooting CDs with Aerosmith. You're a fuck Steven Tyler.

Don't read this if you don't want to get spoiled.

Mario throws his hat can turn into other things wearing a hat collects different colored coins while fighting arguably the most cringey and laughworthy group of bosses of all time before deafening Bowser and saving Peach. I like the 2dparts though.

I thiiiiink some wires may have been crossed about FFVI. Verendus listed it here as a Playstation game. I think it was someone else during all the NX hysteria who claimed it was a Nintendo game. Unless I'm missing something; I don't remember Verendus commenting on a lot of Nintendo-related things.

There's a chance he may have had some legit info sometimes but he deliberately mixed in a lot of bullshit and the FFXV scandal was the last straw that destroyed the trust people had in him.

I wonder if and when they finally decide to show us Retro's new game, they'll make a big deal of it, "we know you've been waiting a long time for this" etc

Or they'll just drop it into the middle of a Direct so casually as if it's nothing.
