As long mini consoles keep coming out, yes sadly.

I hope you're not serious. Game would sell like a thousand copies.
That would be a thousand more than it would if it isn't released. They've been working on the port for a while. Recouping some of the cost is better than none of it. I expect a digital only release, eventually.

My realistic expectation is this balancing final extrapolation on some key upcoming titles (like Mario and Skyrim), with also detailing some of the lesser explored yet already announced games (Yoshi and Kirby), and a bunch of third party and indie ports to fill the gaps. Kind of like a refresher of the franchise titles coming up, and the ports/indies used to fill the gaps.

Would love a surprise, but I'm not expecting anything overly significant (for me personally) than maybe a Wii U port I'd dig (like Bayo2 or TW101).

EDIT: I also expect a bit of time spent on DLC. Zelda, ARMS, Splatoon, Mario x Rabbids maybe, etc.

I'm probably in the minority, I certainly don't see many, if anyone talking about it, and there are far more interesting prospects, but I'd love to see Dragon Quest Heroes I&II confirmed for a western release. An even longer shot, but that Secret Of Mana Collection.

Aside from those, I'm so hyped we'll finally get an official Xenoblade 2 date (and potentially a snazzy Special Edition). I really hope the Platinum teases finally amount to something tangible, as someone who never owned a Wii U I'm hoping for a mix of ports and something new (I don't want much do I?). I'm kinda hoping Capcom announce Okami HD for Switch here too, and they spread more than the Resident Evil love. I'd love it if the Fire Emblem Warriors segment had a brief teaser at the end for the next main-line Switch entry.

I feel I've given up on VC until they finally implement their paid online system. But it'd be the one announcement that'd kill me. Especially if it included GameCube titles.

I think I've kept my expectations in check:

Third Party:
Crysis 1 - Switch port (Proving once and for all Switch can run Crysis)
Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate 2 - 3DS Exclusive
Alan Wake 2 - Switch Exclusive
The Black Box (Half Life 3, Team Fortress 3, Portal 3 and Left 4 Dead 3) - Switch Exclusive
Grand Theft Auto Los Santos Wars - 3DS Exclusive
Bully 2 - Switch Exclusive
PlayerUnknown's Battleground - Switch console exclusive (cancelled for Xbox One)
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Nintendo Edition - Switch (multiple exclusive Nintendo girls)
Skate 4 - Switch Exclusive (includes Nintendo characters)

First Party:
Hotel Dusk 3 - Switch
F-Zero NX - Switch
Detective Pikachu 2 - Switch
Pokemon Snap 2 - 3DS
Kid Icarus Uprising 2 - 3DS
Diddy Kong's Excitebots Racing - Switch
Waverace Xtreme - Switch (includes several DoA girls)

General Announcements:
Wii U Classic Edition (Just Wii U back stock with a few pre-installed games)
Nintendo is getting into producing TV shows, announces the second season of Firefly
Sonic kingdom for Super Mario Odyssey

How dare you. I want Pokémon Snap 2 on my Switch! :P

There's no evidence that they're delaying VC because of Mini consoles. They're planning to have one Mini system every holiday it seems, with rumors or N64 mini it makes more sense. They said multiple times that they would offer a retro system on the console, just that they had nothing to announce at the time.

There are rumors saying that Virtual Console will be replaced by a location service ala PS+. We'll see how it goes. They'll have to talk about it when they'll explain the online retro games stuff.

Not true. Production of the Mini Consoles is being ramped up, and both NES and SNES Classic will be made available through 2018. They don't appear to be limited releases any longer.

Would have been in this week's Famitsu, but they are only reporting PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Well, Capcom gonna Capcom. I'm still expecting it to get ported later (like Revelations), though.
I'm sure Capcom will port over most of their last-gen stuff to Switch, at the very least. We'll probably get RE 4-6, DMC, Okami, etc. eventually. They're just still in their "testing the waters" phase right now, for whatever reason.

I've given up on VC on Switch in general, sadly. :(
Bayo 2 alone would make this an event to remember for me.
A Bayo 1+2 Collection announcement would be fantastic, and would make my day. A Bayo 3 announcement on top of that would be even better.

No idea why but I'm now seriously craving a Might and Magic 1-10 collection on Switch. Ubisoft did say they have a few more Switch games to announce...

I think Super Smash Bros. 4 Switch is going to happen. Nintendo have been really chasing the eSports scene (as demonstrated by a lot of their adverts), whilst also pushing games that support local multiplayer, and many of the games released this year seem to show this focus:

MarioKart 8 Deluxe
Splatoon 2
Arms
Pokken Tournament DX
We also have Rocket League coming at some point (though I would guess sometime in October)

If you also look at the release schedule of these games, it seems like they are also trying to release them fairly often:

March
April - MarioKart 8 Deluxe
May
June - Arms
July - Splatoon 2

August
September - Pokken Tournament DX

So Smash just seems like a no brainer. I expect it will probably be probably be released in November since they don't already have another similar first party title releasing then.

In addition, I think we could likely see further content for games already released, particularly MarioKart.

Besides the above, I think we might see NES, SNES and maybe even Gameboy titles make it to the eStore. In particular, I think we might see a release of Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Edit: Just to clarify, I also expect we will see a lot of other more conventional single player games coming. Its just that the eSports thing seemed to stand out a lot this year, making Smash particularly likely.

You'll get Metal Gear Arise (The Zombie thing is Arise, right?) and like it

I feel like that would be a pretty big deal and something I would be fine with. That said, I'm still only really expecting dates in games we know about so I can be surprised rather than disappointed.

Completely different target audiences. That's like wondering why Ubisoft isn't bringing FarCry 5 to Switch when Just Dance has performed well.

The switch userbase is not the wii userbase.

A quick look at attach rate of games like zelda vs 12 switch shows that.

It's not the wiiu userbase either. Which was only the fanboys Willing to buy such a sucky system with a sucky year one lineup.

Good call on DQ Heroes, I've been so close to buying either of those on steam but I know I'd actually play it much more on Switch. Hopefully DQH2 has had enough time to stand alone on the other platforms and they're getting ready to localize the Switch package.

Yeah it's been pretty obvious Platinum was gonna announced something soon. I'll take anything they put out.

Actually has Just Dance performed well? I've been interested in seeing which kinds of titles get mentioned specifically as performing well on Switch and I don't recall seeing Just Dance brought up.

Perhaps something will come of this in the direct. Enhanced switch port maybe? Even though I've already played it I have a strong desire to replay it on my switch.

Since Kamiya tweeted about the direct, and the W101 is a game he directed, it's seeming quite possible that a Switch port is incoming. However, it could be a Bayo related or news about the new switch project that platinum have been working on. Any one of these announcements would make me satisfied with the direct.

Will absolutely double dip if Bayo 2 comes to the switch.

Just boost it to 1080p and I'm happy. And holy shit playing that on the go...
Going to be some intense train rides.

I'm starting to wonder if we see another western port from EA. Even if it is late. Madden, NHL, PvZ or *gasp* ME Trilogy.

Edit: PvZ runs on Frostbite sadly.

Bayonetta is a franchise that I've tried again and again to get into and I just haven't been able to :( wish I could.
The first Bayo can be frustrating with its insta-fail QTES and poorly paced/poorly designed genre shifts. Bayo 2, however, corrects this and is much more fun, imo.

In general I think Kamiya makes good core gameplay but then undermines himself with half-baked genre shifts for "variety."
