Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Top of page Destiny 2 confessions:
"HI I'm Glenn and I'm only 273.
I don't have Merciless.
Didn't get Sturm yet.
I don't use mods really ever.
I actually can't stand MIDA. Tap tap tap tap
I'm really bad at crucible.
I'm grateful when people play with me."

gaming the light system is my least favorite part of post taken king destiny

Same. Also really dislike how the system utterly fails anyone who wants to focus on one character.

Hey guys I agree with that. But I'm only on my Titan and I've made it to 274. It's grindy but I've just been playing with friends and my kiddos after work and a bit last Saturday.

Oh damn. They brought Randal back. We just had a serious war.

I swear some of the vandals have a ton of health especially in PEs!!

yea ive read the guides posted in this thread and my visceral reaction had always been "but are you having fun?" chasing light isnt fun to me at all, especially since none of these strategies are obvious and the game makes no effort to show you the best route to go. just gonna coast at my own pace and not worry about hitting an arbitrary number. i havent hit destiny's level cap since house of wolves brcause that was the last time it wasnt a chore to do so.

The world is pretty and fun to run around in. I've not mastered mods or infusion. I'm just playing and you know me, I'm not great at it. :)
The thing I fear is that rapid downturn when the folks that have consumed everything and hit max all "burp" at the same time - "the game has no content"

Yeah you've been playing non stop for 2 weeks, what did you expect lol

I'll just be over here on patrol having fun
And trying not to hate crucible :)

OK, lets see...

HI I'm Glenn and I'm only 273. Hi, I´m Glam and I´m only 276, but that´s Raid ready - it´s OK.
I don't have Merciless. LOSER!
Didn't get Sturm yet. Me neither - it probably sucks, right?
I don't use mods really ever. Same, but that´ll change once we´re past 280
I actually can't stand MIDA. Tap tap tap tap. Garbage gun.
I'm really bad at crucible. Same.
I'm grateful when people play with me. Yes.

Ha!! Good stuff Glam

I just don't like how MIDA sounds. It's so soft and weird to be firing high caliber rounds. I like scouts with slower fire rates and higher impact.

I think that if you aren't trying to raid ASAP, it's better to ignore the "ultimate efficiency" guides. Especially the grinding of all your alts using the same class. It's much more fun to switch classes so you don't get bored. I'll run an alt of each class if I run out of things to do on my main.
The only sensible rule is to avoid cashing in the "one time" powerful gear rewards until you've got to a high level or got bored of grinding.
Most powerful gear is on a weekly reset, so just hand those in towards the end of the week, or if you find your drops are not giving significant upgrades and want a boost to keep things interesting..

There's loads of stuff that I haven't done yet (most adventures and strikes) and that'll get me up to 260 light or so without grinding anything.
I've done a lot of heroic public events, which is the only thing that comes close to "grinding", but they've been a lot of fun. I enjoy touring around my sparrow learning the maps while I race to reach the heroic event in time.

Having said that, I'm only level 230. I reckon I'll be raid-ready by the end of the month without having to repeat the same stuff multiple times. Maybe I'll be nightfall ready by the end of this week.
The weekly powerful gear rewards should keep me moving up. The flashpoint, treasure hunt and clan engrams don't need powerful characters.

My flashpoint reward was a spiky silver helm that makes my awoken warlock in mostly grey armour look like the Statue of Liberty. The perk seems very useful too (faster recharge for all arc abilities).

2 caydes loot are impossible to find for me on Nessus one "under a globe " something and one about cavern. Anyone knows ?

this Nightfall is so fucking hard compared to last week's

thank god i obtained Rat king from last week's, there is no way i would do it with this Nightfall, the timer is a horrible idea and Bungie should feel horrible for ruining the Nightfall

I can't decide if I first want to infuse up Nameless Midnight or Call To Serve.

I can't deny the extra power the explosive rounds give NM, but Call To Serve just feels so damn good to shoot plus Triple Tap is a good PvE perk too.

I want to throw my high power Mida into one of them for the raid. It seems the majority of people here are using the NM though.

Wait what? Someone just said it was super easy and finished it with 7 mins on the clock.

EDIT: You are aware that the time mechanic is a different one this time around, right?

Just making sure.

I decided to roll with Eystein-D Pulse as Kinetic and Tone Patrol as scout rifle. I'd like to try the Tango 4-5

i know that you need to enter the circles for extra time, but it's still annoying and hard compared to last week's, and the boss health is too much and the area is small

Ok so can someone please explain why Dunemarchers are so trash? You have to charge them up and the damage they do is beyond pathetic. They did 1/3 health of a red bar dreg...

I'm so pissed they changed the turn speed perk in D1 for this garbage.

Tess has some great shaders to buy btw.
Midnight Talons
Metro Shift
Golden Trace

40 bright dust for one shader.

Yeah, golden trace looks super good:

6N1gibT.jpg

Just feel bad that they are consumable though. I know most of us will probably change armour after raid comes out anyway. Got some shaders but haven't used them yet.

ya i have no plans to raid. only interested in vanity right now

Has anyone else felt overwhelmingly confused about things in this game? Does the game ever explain all of its mechanics? I just hit level 10 and I feel like there is a pretty lengthy list of things I'm in the dark about.

Engrams unlock weapons or something? I think I decoded an engram, and then that was that I never heard about it again.

Why am I giving these vendor specific coins to npcs? Gave some currency to the robot guy on the farm. Then that was that, nothing happened?

What is infusing? I've just been dismantling old gear, it turns into glimmer I think?

I also have no idea what Strikes or Nightfalls are. And I'm pretty sure there are like half a dozen other currencies that I've just been ignoring. I was collecting some weird space rock things on the boat level?

The game is a blast, I'm really enjoying it, but I feel like most of the time when I get rewards I have no idea what the fuck they are and they just sit in my inventory.

God, I love that helmet. Prefer the solar and arc subclasses but that helmet's seriously making me consider switching. Got it yesterday as a public event drop.

Love the colour scheme you've got going on. That shader is easily one of the best in the game.

Finally happy with my guardian's fashion game:

0l7ZxW6.jpg

Your Lock looks exactly like mine: same everything (great Warlock minds think alike me thinks).

Philomath/Nezarec's Sin+Dusk shader I think it was eh? Love the helm so much; so good for Void duties and fashion game (the most important part).

Got all three characters to 290 doing the flashpoints. I was thinking that I should hold off on everything else until after the raid comes out so that it will drop much higher level stuff.

I'm not actually using golden trace, that is just the preview screen on eververse. Haven't applied it yet and probably not going to until raid comes out and we see what the raid armor perks and more importantly what it looks like. Just using maroon moon currently and that looks good enough.

The helm looks good but the perk is actually very underwhelming, even when constantly using a void secondary. Someone said that devour causes all damage to be void damage with regards to the perk but it's not true at all cos the buff 'abyssal extractor' does not trigger.

Engrams unlock weapons or something? I think I decoded an engram, and then that was that I never heard about it again.

When you decrypt an engram you will receive a piece of gear, look out for notifications popping up on the right hand side of your screen to see what you get out of it. New pieces of gear you acquire also have a pulsing, flash effect on them on your character profile until you hover over them for the first time.

Why am I giving these vendor specific coins to npcs? Gave some currency to the robot guy on the farm. Then that was that, nothing happened?

The coins are just currency and a way of ranking up with each npc. Watch the progress bar at the top of the screen each time you hand in some coins to an npc, you should be able to see it filling up. Once it's full the npc will give you a reward.

What is infusing? I've just been dismantling old gear, it turns into glimmer I think?
Bungie have messed up a little here I feel. Players new to Destiny will have no idea how it works and it is not properly explained at all anywhere in D2. Your best bet is to do a quick google search and read up about it, there are plenty of guides out there.

I also have no idea what Strikes or Nightfalls are. And I'm pretty sure there are like half a dozen other currencies that I've just been ignoring. I was collecting some weird space rock things on the boat level?

Strikes are standalone missions that normally take 15-20 minutes to complete. There is matchmaking and you always complete these in a fireteam. The nightfall is a much harder version of a strike which resets each week. No matchmaking here, you need to find some buddies to team up with to do this. Once you complete the campaign these will be explained to you in game anyway so don't worry about them yet.

The materials you collect will go into your inventory - go check them out and read the description! Hint: they are a form of currency in D2.

The game is a blast, I'm really enjoying it, but I feel like most of the time when I get rewards I have no idea what the fuck they are and they just sit in my inventory.

All inventory items have some kind of description on them, but feel free to ask on here if there's something specific you have no idea what to do with!

Engrams unlock weapons and armour. The game decrypts green and blues for you automatically, but you need to visit the cryptarchs for the purple (Legendary) and yellow (exotic) engrams.

Those coins are reputation tokens. For example, give Dev some EDZ tokens and it increases that bar at the top when you interact with him. Complete 1 "level" of it and you got a Legendary engram higher than your current Power Level.

Save infusing for your favourite Legendaries and Exotics. You basically give the attack or armour rating of a stronger piece of gear to a weaker one. E.g. I had a Sunshot handcannon at 233. I infused a 253 handcannon to get Sunshot to 253. Think of it as a power sacrifice ritual. It uses legendary shards and glimmer (obtained by dismantling unwanted legendaries).

Strikes are like MMO dungeons. 3 people get chucked into a super-mission, for lack of a better term. Nightfall is that, but so much harder. They added a timer mechanic to the Nightfalls. 10 minute countdown, killing an enemy adds on a couple of seconds.

As for the other currencies, don't worry too much. Collect them as you go along and just hover over the item and it will tell you who you should trade them in to. It's recommended to keep your coins for when you're like Power Level 250ish so you can trade tons in at once and quickly add another 20 to your light level to get closer to end-game stuff.

welp did a bunch of heroic events and the flashpoint and only got 1 LL

Fashion is the indeed the most important. Nezarec's sin exotic perk isn't even that good but the sacrifices we make for fashion.

Are you also using the same weapons? What do you think of the scout? Handles just like hung jury which is great, but the impact is so so low, my handcanoon outdamages it even at long range sometimes.

Well that sucks. Guess I'll be switching back to the robe I had previously (forgot it's name though)
Second Coldheart from Exotic engrams (already had one, that makes 3 !).

Without the bullshit huh ?
I wish they'd make it so that it's one per character maximum till it's available in December. It's annoying af getting a Coldheart when you get an exotic engram.
