Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

"I was born a runt"

Meanwhile inside Ghauls suit.

HReach-GruntMajor.png

No lie, I'm pretty sure Bungie reused the Grunt audio clips from Reach for the Psions, as they sound almost exactly like them.

Maybe some, but I remember grunts running and and squeeling a lot more lol.

Anyone need an assist running nightfalls. I'm looking for to get in a few runs.

That's weird because I'm 271 and blues and legendary are all coming out at 265. I'm currently wondering how the hell im supposed to get higher without exotics (which you often need to swap with another exotic which is already high power so you gain almost nothing).

Sigh.

You have to get really lucky and get armor or weapon purple mods. I was stuck for the longest time with 265 max drops, and every guide out there fails to realize the only way to push out of that zone is to have the extra 5 light level modifications on nearly all your gear.

Luck is a major factor at play in that specific light level.

This game needs public proximity voice chat (with option to toggle between all, friends, off) stat.
Would solve the whole public event / people arguing over heroic public etc, and make the world feel a little more involving and social.

god no. if you give them the ability to speak, people would argue more.

I know this sounds horrible, but sadly it's true.

That's great. Could you clarify where the blues and purples are from by way of example? As you can tell there's a lot of misinformation going around, I was hoping that Eurogamer had kind of validated it when I quoted them.

Getting quite confusing. Thanks for the clarification.

At 283 all the faction reputation engrams and purple engram drops have been 273. So you're sorta starving for upgrades unless you're getting very lucky with exotic drops in slots that you can use for a legendary to infuse, quest rewards like miss/sturm/etc, or just the powerful/luminous stuff from milestones.

Hard time leveling up for me, the exotic that dropped was high, but in my power slit where I use merciless, different type too so I couldn't infuse.

In any case, even if I did use it, it only went up in one LL; and you don't need your highest stuff equipped anyway.

Yep.

Go to Zavala and you can preview the stuff he can give you.

You can check its stats there, plus the odds of getting what you actually want.
Holy shit, didn't even think about trying that. Knew you could do it at the eververse but never thought to do it for regular stuff.

So I just had a crucible match where I hit a guy with arcblade (which apparently doesn't 1 hit kill strikers, but they sure as hell can one hit me. Then immediately spawn and get hit with a sword before I can even move. Like I literally spawned with a dude running at me from 5 feet away.

It was on that Legion's Gulch map. I'm done with crucible for tonight...

So just going to waffle on a little, regarding a bug/oversight in how the game handles chests, feel free to skip/ignore unless you're interested in somewhat development related banter.

Essentially the issue stems from how chests and players interacting with them is handled, that being, what is suppose to happen is that when a player has popped open a chest, they should not then be able to open it again, for it 'should' be flagged as opened by that player, but either through an oversight or error, it seems that what's checked isn't a players user data but instead an instance ID for the connected player.

If that is indeed the case, and on the assumption that each time a player enters an area they're assigned an instance ID (which would be the case if bungie split areas up into different servers/vms, as would seem to have been the case in destiny 1 when occasionally everyone in a particular part of the map would get hooted (vm going down or just crashing), either way, an instance id or something there about is being used, and as a result it's possible, depending on proximity to a loading zone, to force a change to the players instance ID and thus open the same chest again in the time frame given for despawn.

It appears standard chests linger approximately one minute from the point at which a player interacts with one before despawning, this allows for ample time to run, or sparrow ride your way to another loading zone and back again in time to open the chest a second time, infact in one particular area i was able to open the same chest three times before it despawned, without using a sparrow, each time giving me tokens relative to the area.

I attempted the same with a public event Loot cache but for event triggered spawns changing instance id doesn't work (would guess that they're handled differently to normal chests)

Where this becomes an issue really is raids, have been able to test yet since raids not (currently) up, but if they're handled the same way as normal chests, then it would be possible to open the same raid chest multiple times, i would guess that in this manner it would be the static hidden chests that would allow it and not any spawned as a result of beating a puzzle or boss (as that's most likely handled the same way as public events).

Here's an example of hitting one chest three times : https://streamable.com/6ewze

And with that I'm back on the alcohol and late night gaming.

Cant wait for the raid tonight, i expect epicness all around. Playing with the same people i started Destiny 1 with. Amazing times. But a bit short on content so far. 290 light level. 12 exotics. Amazing times once again.

Man the planet matchmaking is so bad half the time I end up in an instance all by myself.

Yup, I really hope they improve this. About 30% of the time I'll jump on to grind some public quests and everywhere will be so deserted I'm better off quitting back to the main menu and logging back in.

Destiny is a juggernaut and I'm playing on the most popular platform - so I highly doubt player numbers are an issue.

to those who reached 290+, do you have more than 1 character or are you insanely lucky ?

Grinded a heck of a lot for legendaries so that I was at the 265 soft cap, combined with two weeks of powerful gear engrams and two nightfalls + all exotic quests with some planning on when to collect them for max power improvements.

Hitting 280 helps with being able to buy mods.

Patrol chest/material scumming has been a thing for three years in Destiny 1. It doesn't work in raids, Futaba.

I'm aware of the chest scumming, but that's generally a case of people leaving the area and having the the whole set respawn and systematically checking each potential spawnpoint, the thing i'm talking about is opening the *same* chest multiple times, in the time between it being opened and disappearing.
And while that too has been done on D1 for ether chests, I was hoping they'd have addressed it for D2

So the Reputation Bundle in Milestones is Daily

Interesting

Thought that was Weekly too

So either do Strikes for Zavala, Challenges for Ikora, and Crucible for Shaxx
Keeps rotating, not bad to have a daily after the weekly Milestones are done.

Does that purely just reward reputation? So you can level up and get additional engrams? Decent I guess but not all that much use at high power.

It's just Rep. Not even worth doing, imo. If I happen to complete the challenges by chance, then I'll take it.

I agree with you the tower was so full at the same time today I couldn't even connect to it but every instance I went to on the vex planet was dead just me so I ended up logging off.

Is the PC version going to have text chat in game? Managing a clan, coordinating teams, just communicating in general is miserable on PC. You think they could have at least added some minor matchmaking things within clans at least

If you found a patrol chest in D1 that was close to the boundaries between areas, you could open it, head to a new area, run back and loot the same chest again (it would appear as already opened).

Exactly as you described. It wasn't terribly useful in patrol (other than farming Hadium flakes on the Dreadnaught), but it doesn't work anywhere else, including Raids.

Any GAF groups looking to pick up a Hunter (L286) straggler for the raid tonight?

Hopefully able to play with some old familiar guardians again. :)

there is a text chat. i used it in the beta but either i was using it wrong or people were ignoring me lol.

I am working at home and it's all can do to stop myself going upstairs and doing "just one" strike. But I know I'd look up and the day would have vanished and I have so much work to do. Must remain strong.

What time does the raid release?

5 hours 48 minutes from the time of this post.

I'm in the same boat man. I can look at my PS4 from where I am working lol. We must remain strong, so that we can have guilt-free gaming tonight.

got to lvl 261 now. i did one of the "powerful gear" milestones but couldn't avoid it because it was the clan XP one.

what do i do now? i have the rat king quest but need people to join me for it. also trying to do the sturm/drang quest. seems i did it too early and my drang was 230 so infused it up to 261.

how do i access nightfalls? when i go to it in the director it says "advance milestone" but not sure what to do. i only have the ikora 3 challenges, flashpoint, call to arms at the moment. is it even worth thinking about nightfalls right now. i feel like i'm still way too weak to attempt it or the raid yet.

Just started my first Destiny Story playthrough (currently lvl 18) - but I'm curious: How long does is usually take (more or less) to finish a Raid?

since it's only launching today i imagine it'll take a good while. apparently it took 14 hours for the first raid in D1. i think once people get it down and know the ins and outs maybe a couple hours?

aaahh wow! ok - and you have to finish it in one session?
