PES 2018 Demo Impression

How were the servers for PES 2017? Last one I owned was 2016 and I did not like that very much. Having just tried the FIFA demo I think I will get PES for now first.

They were unstable at launch for the first few weeks, but I never encountered any issues after that. The fact they had a beta this time around should hopefully mean everything will be in order on Thursday.

I'm a little confused but thought Adam meant 13th 3pm PDT? It's the 13th here in Sydney atm and its 24 hours away till 3pm PDT which to me is certainly not later today..

Yeah that time works out to 8:00am AEST tomorrow. The official PES website still says the 12th for the US Steam release date too. I don't think anyone at Konami knows wtf is going on...

Wait, so are they holding the US Steam release back for Thurs... ? I thought I was going to come home and play tonight...

Graphics look so much better than fifa 18, almost real sometimes. Stadiums also look way better with much more detail. There seems to be a weird pacing issue playing the demo as the fps starts dropping or becomes very unstable

So when is this unlocking on steam and where? I'd like to know my options.

Pinging master JaseC.

It doesn't have an unlock time set yet, but Konami doesn't do staggered release schedules these days, anyway. Even MGS5 had a universal unlock time despite insistences to the contrary from the community manager (I'd wager he assumed Steam would handle that process automatically).

Edit: For what it's worth, PES 2017 and 2016 both unlocked at ~11pm UTC. That's 12.5 hours from now and probably your answer.

Edit edit: Adam Bhatti has said as much but doesn't seem overly certain.

If you used CDKeys check the link in the purchase email mine is working and I have the key!

Edit: Now in my steam library but no able to install yet.

Man, this game is radically different from the demo, feels slower, dribbling past defenders on Superstar difficulty is a different beast.

Glad its a lot harder just was not expecting this :)

A couple of issues:
- No CPU fouls (back to the Pes2016 days)
- Some cheap goals by the CPU and a LOT of missed chances and miracle saves, feels a tad unfair at times.

That's good to hear, as I really didn't like the demo, deleted it straight away. Sucks that they still haven't sorted out the foul system, really noticeable when compared to FIFA. I'm not sure if I'll buy it day one though, still having fun with both of last years footie titles and due to the dumb online region locking, trying to pick it up cheap from another store-front is out of the question.

So this year i'm changing from FIFA to PES.

Is there an easy way to trap the ball and control it? I swear my players always have a heavy touch.

Also, I can't tackle for shit :(

The 2v2 / 3v3 clan thing is pretty cool - But, can you not filter it so you play against teams who are of an equal level? I keep playing as Villa and getting PSG

Don't control with the sprint button pushed, that's a long control in PES (not so much in FIFA)

To tackle, you have to position yourself without pushing buttons, and tap X (or A in Xbox) when you are really able to get the ball (you can also use a double tap of the same button to do a harder, but riskier, tackle)

Had a few games, a few thoughts..

- The first game I played against Arsenal and it was noticeable that there wasn't anywhere near as much space in midfield as there was in the demo, and that the pace was slower but not massively so.

- the pace of the game is fine as is imo, I usually take it down a notch but I don't see any reason to this year.

- I've had two free-kicks and one cpu booking in 3 10 minute matches.

Not much but there ya go. Early days but I'm enjoying it a lot so far.

Important edit: this soundtrack is going to do my head in.

Good good good. Can you turn the soundtrack off? I know of you play spotify on the PS4 it mutes the soundtrack

Played a game on legend difficulty made a poorly timed tackle and got a direct red card. This was on offense inside the cpu box.

10hrs! SIGH!

Btw JaseC, thanks for helping me regarding unlocking PES 2018. I was able to get a key, used tunnelbear to VPN to the US and activate my key in Malaysia. Looks like it worked a treat!

Glad to hear it. :)

I really don't know if buy FIFA or PES. In the last couple years, I only played FIFA, usually because of the career mode and the BPL, but lately i found it a little Boring, it doesn't really feel that i am managing a club. Plus, I think they don't have brazilian licences anymore and pes is more cheaper here lol. How is the career Mode on Pes?
