How do I quickly change apps in split view?

On iOS 10 you could pull down from the top and a list with all split view compatible apps would appear. Can’t I quickly change apps anymore?

You have to either drag an icon from the Dock over one of your split apps to replace it (remember: the Dock also shows recent apps if it's not an app you already put in the Dock) or head to the home screen, start dragging an app icon and keep holding it, then open your Split View apps and drag the icon over which app you want to replace.

How would I go about resetting my iPhone from scratch on iOS 11, yet keeping all my important data (contacts mainly). I'm sure a lot of junk data has accumulated over the years.

So I don't want to restore from a full proper backup, but from a cherry picked one.

How would I go about doing this? Is it even possible?

Are you signed into and syncing everything to iCloud? If so it should be as easy as signing back into iCloud when you do a fresh install. Contacts should definitely be something syncing to the cloud.

Note: Health data doesn’t support cloud sync and can only be restored by an actual, encrypted backup (if that maters)

Oh, this makes sense.

Just still unfortunate how I have to hold down the app before dragging. It was quicker on iOS 10.

I dunno, if you have the apps you want to split-view in your Dock (and you should really just dump your ~10 most used apps in the Dock now) it's a lot faster than scrolling through a randomly sorted list of apps three at a time.

Yeah I never multitasked before, ever since I got iOS 11 a few months ago I do it almost all the time now.

Yep. Settings -> Control Center -> Customize Controls lets you customize it.

EDIT: Ah, yeah, Zephyr's post below is right. Only the parts below screen mirroring and the volume/brightness controls can be changed (thought the post I'm replying to said "screen recording").

Nope, only the bottom boxes can be changed

Scrolling in safari is now like everything else in the system, and how it was pre-iOS10

Well, when it actually had the two apps I use the most at the bottom of the list, it was quicker than having to first bring up the dock, then hold down an app and then dragging it.

I do love the dock, but the part about opening up apps in split view I still feel is slower.

Has anyone else’s volume buttons become useless with this update? How do I change ringer volume or sound volume without opening Control Centre now?

It’s also super confusing because even when playing music, the volume buttons and the CC volume slider are completely independent of each other yet do the same exact function.

I have watchOS 4 running on my original Watch and it's about the same as watchOS 3, in some ways apps are working better than before. I'll need some more time to see if this holds, but I'm actually surprised with the performance.

This is my nightmare. It took me forever to get my apps arranged the way I want them, and like none of my most used apps were in the dock before.

3D touch/long hold on it. But you should also just have skip forward, skip back, play/pause, and wireless selection always available. If that's not working that's not normal

While the slideover thing is neat and I like being able to have more control over the window split, requiring the dock to start the splitscreen is a huge downgrade. No, I don’t want to dump my most commonly splitscreen’d apps in the dock (I have too many and it requires me to screw up my homescreen). The old method was ugly but it worked better in practice.

Yeah, new dock looks prettier but the old method was faster. I hate that swiping up doesn't always bring out the dock/enters app switcher, sometimes it just catches the notch.

Just restarted the phone and it’s back. Weird.

Also, they never fixed the animation stutter when opening Safari. It’s a really minor problem but I still notice it every time! Tested on an iPad Pro and an iPad Pro 2 (both 12.9 inches).

I like organizing my apps by genre. But this would mean I have to split up apps that I use for multitasking in the dock, and the ones I don't above it.

Or cram everything into megafolders and leave the big area above empty.

Either way it sucks.

So before iOS11, when I would take a screenshot, it would appear in my "iCloud Photos > Downloads" folder on my Windows PC.

But not, I take a screenshot and it doesn't upload there anymore. Anyone know if they changed something? It's rather annoying since it would do it quickly and Onedrive isn't as fast.

Aw man iOS11 made my 6s Plus noticeably slower. I do not like this at all.

Also they took away the force touch on the left edge of the screen for the app switcher. Is there an alternative other than tapping twice on the home button OG style?
