Err, that doesn't make it a scam -- it's that the retailer is using the same listing they previously used for PS4 video cables for this. You see it all the time when you order a Blu-Ray copy of something and the reviews talk about the DVD, or there are multiple colours and reviews talk about a colour you didn't order. And if they don't work Amazon will refund it.

Man was worried about my Walmart preorder after seeing someone had theirs go backorder in this or the preorder thread, but checked and... It shipped! No email yet, but there's a tracking number on the order and everything. I was going back and forth on whether I should keep it or sell it, but I'm thinking I'll just keep it now. It looks cool and nostalgic and I'd like to play some of the games on it on my TV.

Night of disappointment here. Went to Wal-Mart, ton of people there. Was standing in line for a while, lady comes over and yells that they were giving out tickets earlier and are sold out. Half of us left. Went over to Meijer. Shorter line but they only had like 8-12 units. Sold out with like 3-4 guys ahead of me. Got work early in the morning so definitely not hitting up the stores in the morning.

I couldn't be more excited about this. I somehow managed to pre-order my unit on the same day the console was announced. My pre-order was kept all throughout these three months and Amazon UK shipped it on release day. I don't think I'll ever get as lucky as this again

They're way cheaper than very similar products, and they ship from China with a very long estimated delivery date (more than a month away). What happens with the common scam that hit me is that you wait a month for the product to arrive, and then it eventually gets marked delivered. That's when you jump through hoops to check the China post tracking number and find it was delivered across the country to some random address (and probably wasn't the thing you ordered). Amazon customer support will immediately refund you, and you'll notice a month later that the seller is mass-flagged with 1-star reviews, but by then they've taken the money and run.

I talked to a Walmart Rep via Chat and yea... he wasn't really helpful. He sent the same pre-written response over and over again when I asked him why the order, that was supposed to get here tomorrow, is backordered now.

He said that the item "may" ship next week, but I'm not holding my breath.

There are slight differences with the Asia sets. Seems like the distributor took US sets, stuck a sticker with their information on the bottom of the box and removed the AC Adaptor. But I'm just thankful it doesn't have that Malaysia/Singapore/UAE logo.
