Those work like normal saves. However be mindful if you use a save state before a sram save (built-in save) and then quit the game and load the game back up from the save state. It returns the game exactly to the point where the save state was made, even before you used an actual save point in-game saving to the sram data.

Try to avoid mixing and matching sram saves with save states because it can lead to potentially losing your current place in game and undesired backtracking.

There are some posts explaining this elsewhere but here's the rundown:

Saving inside the game is like a normal save - same as the real cartridge. If you shut the SNES off and come back it'll be there.

Save state saves everything about the current state of the game, including in-game saves.

--

Example: You make a game save A, then a save state X. You load save state X and reset the SNES - save A is there.

You make game save B, then shut the SNES off and load save state X. Save B is not there - save state X does not include game save B.

Cheers guys, perfect! :)

Guys, I need help. I still have a Walmart order for a SNES but the payment method i used is expired. Is there a way i can change it or am I boned?

I asked about changing mine a few weeks ago and was told nope they'd have to cancel and re-place the order... to which I said fffffff********cccccckkkkkkk that!

In so many words.

huh. Walmart charged my card immediately when I pre-ordered. got the shipping notification yesterday. should be here on Tuesday

Go to Sting Chameleon's stage and when you find the grey cave, climb over it instead.

Man, you really saved me! Thanks to this advice I could beat 5 of those 8 bosses after a few attempts. Will probably replay all the stages though, since so far I only found one Heart Container.

After playing F-Zero for the first time:

It must've been ridiculous to play this 26 years ago when it first released.

For those with the nes classic, when you mod it and stick a bunch of roms on it, is the interface preserved or does it change?

It stayed the same once you changed how many games were shown, otherwise the added games would be in a folder. So with this it'll be the same.

How much onboard memory does that thing has? That's the only limitation I can think of compared to the NES since the SNES games a quite a big bigger (especially big RPGs)

Around 350mb usable space, like the NES. People think around 75 games would be possible.

Fine with me, cause you can switch them when you want to play different stuff.

I can't get over how good the sound comes from those MSU-1 mods for SNES games.

Next Thursday. Where to begin. Super Metroid might be the best start :D

Man my younger self would kick my ass at how bad I suck at these games now. I want to blame the emulation but I also think it is two decades of essentially hand holding in games. I think Cuphead and how everyone keeps talking about how hard it is and frustrating to redo everything encapsulates how games have changed to interactive movies instead of about things like puzzles and muscle memory and patience.

RIP backlog. I was just starting to make good progress through it too. The fact that I can play this when it's only hooked up to my monitor means it's king when I don't wanna do work and boot up the computer to play a game.

So will the second/third/etc shipments of these to stores be as plentiful as the first, or will they just sort of trickle out randomly from now on?

Anyone own the Super NES Miniboss wireless controller on GameStop's site? Thinking about getting one but I am wondering how the buttons feels, connection, etc.

Can anyone confirm that the SNES classic can be powered with a power bank like the NES classic? I assume that it can if the hardware is identical. Hopefully I can just stick to using my long HDMI cables, whenever Amazon decides to ship my unit.
