I can't stop thinking that IF something like this were to happen in my country it would shake the whole nation to its very foundation. The response would be to do everything possible to make sure it doesn't happen again, ever. But it seems American government is just incapable of acting the right way. I hope this tragic event will change some minds - they just can't continue with the old 'what if there was a good guy with a gun...' rhetoric.

Okay, just so people don't freak out, yeah, the title read 100+ dead for a couple of minutes. That was my fault, user error.
I go by what is reported by major news outlets, I currently see 50+, that what I meant to put there.

It wouldn't be hard to conceal a weapon in luggage and a guy about to unload on a crowd isn't super concerned with laws. If there aren't heavy security checks, there will be now.
Was supposed to be on a plane to Vegas in an hour. Conference is cancelled now. This is horrifying to watch.
In the past for this conference we would have flown in on Sunday. If we had, I guarantee many if not all of my coworkers would have been at this event, myself included, as the guy scheduling the event is a big country music fan.

They killed him in the room he was shooting from. In the latest press conference said they found the vehicle they were looking for and possibly have the woman they were looking for. Not sure what that means. If they took her into custody I don't know why they wouldn't be sure they found her. So maybe there is a stand-off with her somewhere going on?

Unfortunately for the crowd, anything short of a police sharpshooter already facing the hotel at the right angle would not have stopped this quickly. He likely barricaded the door to the room as well.

Watched a couple of videos and fuck that shit was terrifying. I cant believe there were people recording while those shots were firing.

Shit like this is becoming the norm rather than the exception. Politics is more important than empathy in the US. That's why its going to get worse.
Yeah. If people in the crowd started shooting... They would just be shooting each other.. with tunnel vision no chance in hell they would notice it coming from a 32nd window, and if they did, well now the hotel is under attack. 99.9% of those shots would miss and would put hotel guests in danger.

Yup, if it was legal to buy a heavy machine gun in - i don't know ... Wyoming, you could easily just 'import' it to your state via a road trip. As long as you don't take planes or don't cross the speed limit, it's unlikely you - let alone your bag - would ever be checked.
