Killing 20 first and second graders didn't wake America up. This isn't going to stop America from trying to move on and ignore their problem like they always do.OK America, it's time for an intervention.
This is fucking ridiculous.
It's real fun in games. On a screen.I will never understand gun culture.
No, you are correct. They also cost tens of thousands if you can find one.
It is far more likely he modified his gun or used grey market parts to approximate automatic fire.
How do you expect it to be stopped? You can make all the laws you want, it isn't going to delete every gun from existence. The simple fact of the matter is that an individual who wants to harm a great number of people and is willing to trade his/her life to do it can do it, with or without guns. You're not going to stop every one of those people, even if you stomp all over the constitution trying to do so. Sure, the US could use better gun control laws but those laws will not stop these incidents.
That said, the US has related problems that do have solutions. The state of mental health care in this country is abysmal.
The power of destruction is a hellvu drug. It's real fun in games. On a screen.
But I don't want my kids indulging until they gain some perspective. Sorry kids.
Gun control has been proven effective in multiple countries. We have data that it will work even if guns are already out there. It absolutely will prevent these incidents. How do you expect it to be stopped? You can make all the laws you want, it isn't going to delete every gun from existence. It worked for us, but worked because majority of the country was behind it and wanted it to work. The U.S. still has a lot of gun loving citizens.Look at what Australia did after the Port Arthur shooting. It seems to be working for them.
If he was of Middle Eastern descent, they would have already called this a terror attack regardless. It's insane. The shooter is white, ergo they will not call him a terrorist. It's repugnant.
horrific news, but this sort of thing has stopped being surprising.
at the very least they need to limit gun ownership to semi automatic side arms as a first step towards an outright ban on firearms. no civilian has any justifiable reason to own an automatic rifle. it's a weapon of aggression, not self defense.
It has nothing to do with games. The rest of the world can partake in games with shooting without a culture of mass shootings to followIt's real fun in games. On a screen.

Dont believe he has 240.Holy shit doesn't he have 240 characters now as a gift from Jack this is the best he can do?
Warmest?
God bless?
All the evidence points to the fact that these incidents can be stopped and have been in many other countries around the world

What's truly horrifying about these attacks is, how do we even stop them from happening?
1. Do we ban guns?
2. Do we need to improve mental health treatment?
3. Do we increase surveillance?
Unfortunately it seems these lone wolf type attacks are near impossible to stop
But the government or nobody else can stop someone from modifying a weapon to increase it's lethality. That's already illegal. Acting like gun control laws would have stopped this incident is missing the point.
Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it will never happen.
I've seen a number of videos of people will full-auto weapons at firing ranges, and stuff like FPSRussia with vehicle mounted explosive ordnance. What exactly are the laws governing those? I assume they're hard to get and can't leave private land but it doesn't seem they're banned outright.
There are a number of grey market products like that one (and echo triggers) that the ATF doesn't or can't explicitly ban that should be done away with. They aren't protected either, so this is something Trump could easily do by having the ATF issue a clarification of existing rules.
We can't achieve perfection, ergo, when faced with utter catastrophe, we should do nothing. Got it.How do you expect it to be stopped? You can make all the laws you want, it isn't going to delete every gun from existence. The simple fact of the matter is that an individual who wants to harm a great number of people and is willing to trade his/her life to do it can do it, with or without guns. Sure, the US could use better gun control laws but such laws will not stop these incidents.
Bullshit.
Chris Rock said that there should be bullet control, where every bullet cost some obscene amount of money, like $5,000. It was presented as a joke, but it might actually work.
I don't want to argue this isn't the place but my own belief is mental illness combined with an extreme familiarity with virtual gun play combined with a society that celebrates real gun play is definitely a more toxic mix. The us army didn't plough millions into "americas army" without knowing very well how it helps recruitment. It has nothing to do with games. The rest of the world can partake in games with shooting without a culture of mass shootings to follow

The exclamation mark gives it a bizarre casual levity.
Automatic rifles have been banned for decades. How do people not know this.
So what do we know about this Paddock guy?
I don't deny that it could be addressed, but I know it won't be. This product is explicitly designed to subvert existing rules/laws about the availability of automatic firearms. It's taking a semiautomatic rifle and turning it into what amounts to a fully automatic rifle, but it's not technically because (as far as I know) the firing pin setup is different.
Well, here's a guy using a full-auto AK.

along with M60s, Browning 50cals, full-auto shotguns and other state-of-the-art military grade weapons. What's the story behind that?

Bullshit.
You don't stop them. You might reduce them, you might reduce the percentage of them that are committed with firearms, but you're doing nothing to stop the crazy people who are the root cause.
If this guy couldn't get a gun he could have rented a u-haul truck and plowed into the crowd exiting the event after the show.
I'm not saying that reducing the availability of guns is a bad thing. I'm saying it isn't the panacea you're trying to sell it as.

No way in Hell Trump tweeted that.
