We all hoped for more from Trump's speech, and we were stupid to hope. Quoting scripture and religious wibble in the wake of such events is fucking gross. "Sure, your loved ones are either dead or in hospital, but don't worry — God is close." He couldn't have been that fucking close, you incompetent, spineless pair of cuntflaps.
Edit: Being presidential — being a leader — isn't offering vague thoughts and prayers in a sombre tone, but being able and willing to acknowledge when your nation has severe issues that must be addressed, even if it means having to call out the very people that go you elected for the morons that they are.

It is exceedingly depressing, because the changes Obama tried to get done post Sandy Hook were A: things people support and B: minor.
And they got shot down.
So yeah. It's never going to happen until we get the house, the senate and the executive branch all at the same time, and even then I'm not sure we'd see it happen.
If you watch any of the videos, it's hundreds of rounds from an automatic rifle being fired from above on a crowd of 22,000 for a good amount of time, who didn't know where the shooting was coming from so were dropping and lying still in places as he swept over them from above.

The Sandy Hook aftermath established that it's not going to happen in the foreseeable future.
There's a reason Obama considers it his biggest failure as President.
Not saying that it was his fault, just that his efforts highlighted the futility in trying to get gun control passed in this political environment. It would take a gargantuan, mountain-moving effort to get gun control passed, an effort which is nigh-impossible to mount given the influence organizations like the NRA have over Congress.
They answered that question with a resounding YES when Sandy Hook happened.

By definition you need a motive to be considered terrorism. No known motive as of yet. Unless you believe ISIS, but without any sort of proof you don't want the president to claim that.
