Danita Cohen, spokeswoman for UNIV Medical on CNN providing what little good news has come out of this, in that some who arrived at the hospital have been treated and released. Has also said four who were sent there had passed away.

MSNBC cited Newsweek in stating that Nevada gun laws do not require gun owners to be licensed, does not require them to register their guns, and that they can have as many as they want...yet of course, absolutely nothing is going to be done about this, now is there?

If this negatively effects the amount of money Vegas brings in from tourism it’ll change overnight.

Showing the divide between what the population thinks and the NRA/Government officials?

Jesus fuck.

And people still want to bring up illegal guns as a counterpoint, even though it's highly likely these guns were purchased legally, as it has been for most mass shootings over the past two decades.

I woke up to this. This is so just horrible for words to describe. I saw some of the videos. I can't even imagine the terror those people must have felt not knowing if a bullet might just fly at you. They were so many bullets.

RIP to the victims. Fuck the perpetrator forever and always.

Was a pistol used in this attack? I'm confused.

No a rifle was used, but given the statistics, his attack is an outlier when compared to gun homicides in the us. You call for the ban of certain weapons, yet want the wrong guns banned.

I am for closing the gun show loophole, and many other checks, but banning weapons that make a tiny portion of crime and ignoring the ones that kill 90% of people is really dumb. It will do absolutely nothing to curb gun violence.

Because signs point to "triggered state" Something set this guy off, he doesn't have history of mental health issues, or any radical political, religious views, so what's left? family/relationship, financial abandonment. isolation/loss/betrayal...

There must be some sort of answer to this chaos!
I guess I don't really buy that the brother that lives halfway across the country really knows his own brother that well. Also, it takes a while to buy 10 assault rifles and mod them into fully-automatic so this was something that seems very premeditated and likely planned out over a period of time.

Truth of the matter is that we may very well never know his motivations. That said, it always seems off putting to me when people assign some of the blame (directly or indirectly) to a woman whenever the a man commits murder.

That's fine, but you can currently build your own gun, easily and legally with shipped parts online. That will just ramp up.

You can build bombs with parts online too but that doesn't mean those parts should be sold in shrinkwrapped all-in-one packages in fucking wal mart.

Jason Aldean is a proud NRA supporter and gun owner. He is literally the good guy with a gun the NRA talks about. And yet he ran off when the shots were fired.

I don't blame anyone for taking cover when they're on the wrong side of a barrel. Being a member of the NRA doesn't make you bulletproof.

Per person Ownership is on the decline, but a smaller number of people are hoarding more and more guns. There are over 300 million guns in the united states.

I still can't imagine what the motive was. The guy was obviously a gun lover so if I had to guess, I would say he was right leaning. But, at the same time, he opened fire on a country concert? It really does sound like mental illness in this case.

I think the majority of guns should be banned unless you have a special license that says you need it for a specific reason. But I know that's extremely unrealistic.

Rifles and automatic rifles ARE absolutely commonly used when it comes to these mass shootings. I'm well aware when it comes to street crimes and smaller domestic murders, which happen daily, it's typically a handgun.

Some places require you to check in at the front desk to ensure you haven't died/suicided in the suite if the do not disturb sign has been out.

Very rarely, especially if only staying a few days. I've never had that happen anywhere in the world I've stayed, when less than a week. Of course, if you are creating a disturbance or they suspect illicit behaviour inside they will. Either way, it is beyond easy to smuggle weapons into a hotel - it's not like the TSA are on the door or anything. Even if housekeeping access your room, they won't touch your luggage.

He is a terrorist. There is no other definition. It is very, very accurate to call the shooter a terrorist. Don't give an inch.

U.S. Code (U.S.C.)
Title 22, Chapter 38 of the United States Code (regarding the Department of State) contains a definition of terrorism in its requirement that annual country reports on terrorism be submitted by the Secretary of State to Congress every year. It reads:

The term 'terrorism' means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.

I saw this as it happened live last night. A man who works for Jason Aldean was blaming the attack "on sanctuary city policies" when interviewed by Fox reporter. Fox reporter tells him "don't get political". Guy responds "I'm not getting political these are just the facts."

It was not even 30 minutes after the attack and instead of blaming guns or terrorism this guy blames "sanctuary cities." It's insane.
Those gross floppy-ass gauges. Omfg.

Seriously, the only thing you can do at this point is pray? Focus your prayers on others whose mental state is in question. Prayer should be the first choice, not the last resort.

??? what in the world is this? I just woke up to this and taking this all in....so yes I will give my thoughts and prayer to all those affected by this tragedy.

I not sure what I'm doing wrong here....

Brother stated he wasn't a gun owner didn't he? Like, from what CNN said the brother is baffled by this.

But it could be one from prior, I mean that is the way the ban works. Right?

Yes, but most of those are in ill repair or cost upwards of $30,000.

Talk about gun control now. Talk about it tomorrow. Talk about it until something gets done.

The small issue I have is gun control might help reduce the number of casualties in events such as this, but these events will still take place. So if you frame it as something that can prevent Mandalay Bay or The Pulse or Sandy Hook, people can look to Europe and see mass killings and say "nope." People who intend to kill many, many people will move to using homemade bombs.

Focus on the everyday consequences of gun violence. The tens of thousands who die each year, be it by someone else's hand or their own. That's where gains will be made if we had ample gun control. We may never prevent a Sandy Hook, but we might be able to prevent thousands upon thousands of small disputes from becoming deadly.
I simply don't accept that this would have still happened with proper gun control. Sure, this fucker may have still had the motivation to do what he did with or without guns, but there is absolutely no way he could have done this much damage without having such easy access to so many firearms.

Jason Aldean blamed his ex-wife for "sending him through hell" whilst he cheated on her and wrapped himself in religion and the flag to shame her. A good Christian.
