I guess I don't really buy that the brother that lives halfway across the country really knows his own brother that well. Also, it takes a while to buy 10 assault rifles and mod them into fully-automatic so this was something that seems very premeditated and likely planned out over a period of time.

Truth of the matter is that we may very well never know his motivations but that doesn't mean that it'll never not be creepy whenever people blame a woman for the murders that a man commits.

I didn't blame "a woman" ??? where the fuck are you getting this?

Irrational people, do some crazy shit when they face drastic/sudden personal life failures ..That could include a relationship loss, (a relationship with any sex/gender for that matter, not just a woman: See Gianni Versace murder) a job loss or another huge financial or family member loss... Keep your narrow minded way of thinking to yourself and don't insult me please.

500+ people injured, by one man

that is impossible without guns

Again, many if not most of the injured were likely hurt during the ensuing chaos as everyone tried to get the fuck outta dodge.

Regardless, I suppose it is all due to HIS actions.

Jason Aldean blamed his ex-wife for "sending him through hell" whilst he cheated on her and wrapped himself in religion and the flag to shame her. A good Christian.

Dude is gross, his music is gross, his "culture" is gross. Still don't blame him for running off stage ASAP when things kicked off.

Fuck... I hope the injured number can all recover.

I simply don't accept that this would have still happened with proper gun control. Sure, this fucker may have still had the motivation to do what he did with or without guns, but there is absolutely no way he could have done this much damage without having such easy access to so many firearms.

Short of a bombing, I don't know how one person could spontaneously kill or injure nearly 600 people in a few minutes.

But with guns its possible.

Also, because this worked. Now its entered the playbook of what terrorists can do if they plan for it. Remember the first vehicular terror incident? When it first happened - it was like “oh no, now this is gonna happen again because it clearly worked and was so effective”. I won’t be surprised if we have a simialir incident soon somewhere else.

Jesus Christ I should not have watched the footage of this happening. I only watched 20 seconds of a video that showed people diving and crawling (presumably not being shot) and it was horrifying. So many bullets being shot. Sounded like a war zone. Absolutely heartbreaking.

But it could be one from prior, I mean that is the way the ban works. Right?

You cant tell from the sound of the gun if its a certain brand of AR-15. All AR-15's sound the same. (most guns shooting .223 sound the same) it could have been a bumpfire stock, could have been illegally modified.

I don't blame anyone for taking cover when they're on the wrong side of a barrel. Being a member of the NRA doesn't make you bulletproof.

I think what he's trying to point out is the "good guy with a gun" narrative the NRA props up. NRA has been shilling that BS forever. If that's the narrative you're all for, and as an NRA member he would be, then why not run in there and prove it?

Because it's false, and that's proof....but it's still not good enough proof. Nor the other times when there's been shootings and people with open-cary licenses and guns in the vicinity. It only escalates the situation.

Guess we should just do nothing then about gun control! I mean fuck it right?

I didn't say that... ?

There just has to be a way better than just saying, "No guns for you!" and calling it a day.

Either way, this is an incredibly sad tragedy. My co-worker knows someone who was shot, but thankfully is okay. It's a shame people just can't take their own life without bringing down others when they do it...

Holy hell, when I went to bed there were reports of a possible shooter, and I wake up to this. What a horrible tragedy. My condolences to the families of the victims. Jesus.

You need to stop watching that trash pile of a network; plenty of other more competent resources for news out there.

I'm not American but I've normally found CNN to be pretty decent. I'm probably just ignorant of the better channels though.

What would you recommend watching? I'm limited to the channels streamed on YouTube.

515 people injured jfc

where's the "why not put heavy restrictions on knives and cars and baseball bats too since they can hurt people too?!" crowd at? oh yeah hiding until a specific attack that barely fits your narrative happens.

500+ injured is due to this being an attack with guns, period

RIP

All I'm saying is its a losing argument if you say you're going to prevent these types of events. You won't, they'll get replaced. The evil mind with the serious intent to commit mass murder will find a way.

However, gun violence is a hundreds-of-times-daily thing that impacts our lives, and those can be prevented. Those are often times rash decisions that end up deadly due to the presence of a gun. That's where to frame the argument.

Events like Mandalay Bay will continue to happen. Perhaps to a lesser degree, perhaps not, but you can't stop them, and each event that happens in Europe undermines an argument that is built upon them.

so the police came into the hotel room and he was already dead? couldn't he be just a patsy? like someone else did the shooting, exited the room somehow and left the dead body there with a gun in his hands? Maybe I've just watch too many episodes of 24.

Here we go.

Also, to the people saying that handguns are the real problem in overall gun violence, I have no issue saying that they should be banned too. After the Dunblane massacre in 1996 we banned handguns in Great Britain and we've only had one mass-shooting since, which was with a shotgun.

We still have gun crime here of course, but it's far FAR lower than what it is in the US. I think there was something like 60 gun murders in the UK last year. You compare that to the US where it's over 11,000.

Europe doesn't have mass-murder events on the same level as the US though. That argument doesn't stand up, even with the upswing in terror attacks in Europe, it's still far safer than the US, both in terms of everyday violence and mass-murder.

As long as theres 300 million guns in the US it doesnt matter what you do legally. He could have borrowed one from the guy down the street if he needed to. America is just straight fucked unless we can somehow cut that number waaaaaaay down

It's kind of gross to see morning news interviewing people who were there. Like one dude was on who was clearly about to have a breakdown talking about people dying in his arms.

RATINGS

Money is more important than anything to way too many people in this country. Our out of control greed is the primary driver behind most of our societal problems.

Just want to reiterate to those that were suggesting this was an islamic terrorist attack earlier, this is why we don't speculate and fuel that kind of shit.

To the issue, I've become completely desensitized to this. Not because the loss of human life doesn't phase me, but because nothing will happen to prevent events like this from happening and it will keep happening and we'll carry on and forget about it because our culture is intransigently fixated on an ethnocentric principle that was established 200 years ago and bears little to no relevance today.

Almost 600 people.

One guy.

"We don't ban knives"

We have to save some goddamn lives, people. This is too much.

Dude, are you fucking serious?

sure, and he could also have been mind controlled into doing it by the tripods that live on the moon why in the hell would you dive straight into birdbrain conspiracy theories?

Totally it'd be great if people could just kill themselves...wait the fuck?

Gun control also massively decreases suicides by firearm. When a gun is right there and readily available people are going to kill themselves. When they, in your crackpot scenario, have to order the various pieces online and play legos to get them together, they don't buy them in the first place.
