Instead of using an 8bitdo SN30/SF30, has anyone tried connecting their SNES Classic Controller to a Wiimote and paired it with the 8bitdo receiver as their wireless SNES controller solution? If so how does it feel?

I use these. They're perfect.

I haven't noticed any lag. I think they're really good cables, and a bunch of other people in this thread have said the same.

You should be fine. I bought the best buy ones and there's no noticable input lag. The length of the cable shouldn't affect input, at lengths under 50 feet at least, the only thing that would affect input lag would be the quality of the cable (if it's a crappy cable with bad soldering, crappy quality wiring, etc.)

Cheers guys :)

CRT is gorgeous on this. The alternative they show in their video, that Sony display, is nothing like what we had a kid. The slightly blurry faint scanline CRT filter on the SNES Mini is far closer to my childhood TV.

Yea the DF video is quite disingenuous about this whole thing. John has that perfect CRT for retro game aficionados who want those ultra crisp pixels but the actual TVs you played on back in the day looked very much like that CRT filter in the SNES mini.

Maybe there should be a place for game discussion only? Or maybe the accessories and shipping/availability could be somewhere else? Maybe another thread?

I've contacted Walmart a couple times about my 8/22 order that hasn't shipped. They just tell me my fulfillment center doesn't have stock and my order will be shipped when/if they get more, and if they can't ship it after a week of the expected delivery date (Oct 5 for me), they'll cancel the order.

Yeah that's the fucking worst. "Sorry we fucked up, instead of giving you the option to remain on backorder until we can ship you one we will just cancel it so you are totally fucked. Bye!"

Moral of the story.

Support your local Best Buy.

Yeap. With GCU, the extra rebates, and great customer service, I don't see any reason to support shit companies like GameStop or the now increasingly shittier job Amazon has been doing lately.

Best Buy is the best place to buy games period.

My theory is it was a glitch and they are shipping all 25th orders first.

It's possible. I was an 8/25 Walmart order and mine arrived on Friday, release date, despite it saying it was arriving 10/5. Got pretty lucky, I guess.

Finally played Star Fox for the first time, that game is rough. Also learned that I'm really bad at Mario Kart.

Ha, yeah, it was my first time playing Star Fox, as well. I was shocked at how rough it is. Thought it would run much smoother, for some reason.

I'd prefer sharp over blur while a CRT filter that emulates what was actually happening isn't easily feasible..

BUT

One thing people should consider more is the big difference between looking at it on your TV 2-3+ meters away, or right up next to the screen like a computer monitor at less than a meter away.

It's case-by-case for me, I go back and forth. I just really like scanlines.

my tv's as a kid never looked like the good screen that DFretro keep showing, mine was more blurry even with scart, it's why the waterfalls in sonic 1 worked so well back then but on modern emulation look like streaks of lines.

The CRT in the DF video is a professional monitor, which would retail for thousands of dollars at the time.

Shoutouts to everyone who grew up where even the shitty cheap CRT from kmart in the livingroom was a huge and exciting step up to the absolute garbage ancient shitty CRT you had in your room. But you can't exactly dominate the livingroom set with your 60+ hours long RPGs so you make it work.

The real nostalgia.

For anyone using an LG E6 or similar OLED, what TV settings are you using?

I ask as someone who isn’t interested in using the CRT filter. To hell with authenticity, I like my games looking clear and crisp.

I got tired of playing the Walmart wating game. So i went a bought a unit at a local brick-n-mortar store and cancel my Walmart order.

I think a lot of us tried to do that.

I seriously got a little emotional playing through Donkey Kong Country. The music and sound effects brought back so many memories. My parents bought my my SNES while we were on vacation in Florida, along with a copy of DKC. They instantly regretted it because I just wanted to stay in and play it, lol. Now all these years later, I was sitting next to my 4 year old daughter as she was learning the controls.

As someone who never had a SNES when they were younger, I'm actually finding Star Fox to be really difficult. Had a quick go earlier and didn't even manage to beat the first stage. Will need to give that another go sometime. Looking forward to playing through more games I've never tried
like Super Metroid
after I beat Super Mario World again.

Yeah, Target shipped my preorder last Tuesday, but I'm convinced they sent it via an on-foot courier cause it won't arrive until Wednesday. So, I strolled into Best Buy on Friday around opening and got one with minimal effort.

Use your barrel rolls (L or R shoulder buttons) constantly when under attack. I just ran through route 1 in one sitting, and barrel rolled the whole way through lol. It definitely helps. That, and using your brakes (B button on default controls) when things get too fast. X to boost is also handy in certain situations to escape heavy fire/enemies too.

Hello all,
I remember there were some SKUs or UPC #s to check stock on brick seek. Can anybody please provide to aid in my search for a console?
Thanks!

The one from the UK was shipped via i-parcel which is cheaper UPS. Says October 18th before I get it o.o

I-Parcel is going to hand it off once it hits the states. My Iparcel shipment from amazon uk is at customs and being handed off to UPS once it passes customs.

Yeah, that was a weird point by DF. Why would literally three pixel fat lines going across my game be seen as a good thing? Maybe we should bring back the overlays from the Magnavox Odyssey so you can plaster "scanlines" over your screen lol

Then again, part of my SNES experience was played in B&W (it was technically on a colour TV, but it was so blurry in colour, it was better to play in B&W for a crisper image), so perhaps comparing to my childhood isn't the best.

I noticed that too - not sure what is up with their shipping. On Friday I lined up at Target at 6:30 and was 65/120 in line when they opened.

Going to sell the one that is coming in the mail to ond of my friends or coworkers (for MSRP! Down with the scalpers.)

Started a Zelda play through with my two kids (both under 5). I've been providing commentary on what's happening and getting them to tell me where to go using the map. We're currently on the way to find the elder. Will see how long it lasts but it's so cool going through it again and hearing their comments on what's happening.

I feel like at this point my Walmart order is gonna get cancelled. Had a preorder since August 22nd and its still "preparing." Fuck walmart.

Luckily my buddy managed a best Buy one and that one came on Friday. Best buy delivered.

I started up Super Metroid and had a barrage of questions from my 6 year old. I explained the Metroids as "Animals" who act like "Space Vampires". They don't really think for themselves, they just eat.

"Why did she kill all of them?" Well, she was given a job, and she did it, if they were left unchecked they could have been used as a weapon. "Oh... Well, why did she leave that baby one alive?" Well, the baby Metroid think's she is her mom, it was the first thing she saw after it hatched. "Oh, ok, but who was that purple dragon that stole it and blew up that space station?"

This continued for a few hours, she was so immersed.

Anyone receive a shipping confirmation for their Amazon order yet? I got one from Walmart, but I've yet to get any update from Amazon regarding my preorder.

This is what it's all about, lol.

I don't know if this is against the rules, but I'm in Shelton CT, I have and extra Snes Mini. Trying to sell it for $100. Don't really want to make money off of it but I think $20 is worth the tax and getting up early. Didn't open it yet.

Interesting...I'll give it a go tonight. Wonder if the home button on the wii mote will return to menu...

Same here, except mine cost 100 euro to buy it from the store. Id like to make a few bucks on it but nothing much. Im in The Netherlands tho, so if anyone wants mine they would have to pay for shipping costs.

Got my pre-order from Amazon UK, and I forgot it didn't include an adapter. Whoops.

Although I have one with the US version I managed to get (Best Buy pre-order), so I can more or less use that to power the UK version of the thing, right?

Anyways, started a playthrough of Super Metroid. Looks and plays good so far (going through the Wrecked Ship), although I'm noticing the audio sometimes sounds a bit weird at times (crackling/static at random points).

Edit: Guess it was my monitor. Hooked it up to a TV and the audio sounds fine, and the adapter for the US version worked just fine with the UK one.

*receives email from Amazon UK*
*"Your order of Classic Mini Super NES has been dispatched."*
*gets hyped for next week*
*sees the delivery date set for October 13th*
*dies at second stage boss and has to retry from the checkpoint*
*continues with extra nervousness to play The Waiting Game*

Well, my Amazon.co.uk order has passed through customs over the weekend and is now in Jamaica, NY, being delivered by UPS.

*gets new tracking number for US UPS*
*feels renewed confidence that the game can be won*
*enters final stage of The Waiting Game*
*lock and loads for the final boss fight- THE WAIT*

Be careful guys...I became too reliant on the save state/rewind feature instead of in-game saving and lost an hour+ of progress in Earthbound because I hit A instead of X on the main menu...oh well, it's one of my favorite games of all time so I don't mind going through Belch's base again.

They told me that because my expected delivery date was Thursday, they just haven't shipped it out yet. Feels like I'm probably not getting my order.

If Walmart cancels my August 22nd order, I’ll just get one elsewhere in other shipments later this year. I canceled my Amazon UK order because of them, so it hurts a bit.

I will, however, permanently refuse to buy anything from them again. Don’t ship out stock to people who ordered it after me.

I'm with you on this. It's BS.
