My entire day has just felt so draining and seeing all of these people act like there is nothing that can be done is just putting me in such a bad spot. Im so tired.

Paddock gambled more than $10,000 a day numerous times in recent weeks at Las Vegas casinos, according to NBC News, which cited a casino executive and a source who had seen reports to the government on cash transactions. Some of Paddock’s transactions topped $30,000, NBC said. It was unclear whether Paddock was a winner or loser, according to the network.

The guy was definitely rich.

What really baffles me as a non-american is that the discussion often revolves around banning big guns while pistols are usually omitted from the discussion. If this guy would have taken 2 pistols and a good amount of ammunition he could have killed a ton of people still by going down to street level.

Guns simply need to be taken away from people that dont have a good reason to own and use them. Fucking simple really.

But that would be too much to ask apparently.

There is literally NOTHING anyone could have done to stop this except make it impossible for people to have these guns.

There is no pro-gun rights argument here.

It was terrible news to wake up to when it was just 20+ dead and 100+ injured. Now it's just absolutely crushing.

In these times of chaos and uncertainty, at least it can bring out the best in some people. On CNN, there are reports of people waiting in lines 3+ hours to donate blood to the victims.

Where in the world are you patted down before entering a hotel?

Philippines pretty much pats you down wherever you go somewhere decent. The casino where that shooter was you had to go thru a metal detector and a luggage scanner before you can even enter the vicinity.

Aye, I'd urge everyone to watch the brother's interview on him. The guy sounds like a complete nobody. No political affiliation, no religious affiliation, regularly talked to his family, no issues with the law, fucking sent his family giant boxes of cookies. They didn't really know their father.

All that makes it seems all the worse for the lack of motivation. Like a seemingly perfectly regular guy up and took to shooting hundreds of people for no reason. Makes it seem all the more senseless.

I bet we'll get more information once they find his female companion. For all we know she could have been the catalyst.

You know what infuriates me the most? These cowards who kill themselves or get killed right after without being held accountable.

Dozens killed, hundreds of grieving family members who lost someone dear. Thousands of friends whose companions were taken from this world unjustly. Millions feeling sad all over the world.

These people deserve answers, how can one even begin to comprehend or make sense of such a profound tragedy when the heartless monster responsible for it is gone. One of the injustices in this world.

RIP to the victims and condolences to families&friends.

This is sad, but completely predictable. Happens every time. Bloomberg has an article about the mass-shooting bumps going back a number of years.
Shops will actually build up stock in anticipation for the "They're gonna take mah guns" sales wave.

Also, all the Casino operator stocks are taking it in the shorts. MGM Resorts, Wynn, Sands, etc, all down slightly to sharply.

I gotta agree with this.

Back then, guns weren't what they are now.

The other reason though is "the right to have a well armed militia" supposedly to match what the government has in firepower...just in case.

Citizens don't have drones, tanks, F-35s and rocket launchers but...

Should probably say "Too many people have accepted the normality of mass slaughter as a necessary sacrifice to an amendment written for the purpose of not have a standing national army.... which we have now anyway."

Seriously, the sacrifice of the 2nd Amendment isn't that people have to die so we can have freedom to have guns. The sacrifice is that we had to arm militias because we (at the time) did not want a standing national army. We have that now anyway.

I gotta agree with this.

Guys... again, the amendment isn't to match what the government has in firepower. It was so that the federal government would have literally no firepower. We went back on that though and decided we didn't give a fuck, yet we kept the amendment.

Business as usual. Another mass murder, another spike in gun sales. Pray for the lost and social media on fire with a divided nation too far up it's own ass to ever make a meaningful change.

It's been said plenty but after Sandy Hook I don't see any level of mass murder making people change their minds.

They found her last night and deemed that she was not a Person of Interest. They don't believe she was involved.
That's one of the aspect I do not understand yet fully: was she not the woman who shouted "you are all going to die" at the crowd before the concert? Was that a false report?

So this is entirely driven by a fear of purchasing restrictions because I can't imagine anyone thinking a gun would have helped them in this situation. Really is shit that the gun industry actually profits from mass shootings.
As someone who purchased a few guns before the election last year, I imagine the sales would be even greater if Hillary had won.

The guy was definitely rich.

Could be. He could've also taken a mortgage out on his house or cashed in a pension. Anything is possible.

Edit: You're correct. Apparently he was a multimillionaire from real estate dealings.

"Rich, old white man commits deadliest shooting in U.S. history."

Wouldn't have believed this if it didn't already happen

Makes a good point. Can we just get some of those "originalist" justices to go by the what the founders intended, which was hoarding a bunch of muskets and shit? If the Constitution is not a living and breathing document, then they would have never intended for gun tech to advance to where it is now.

Oh wait. They only follow holy texts when it fits them.

Yeah, the "buy several guns at once" crowd is real susceptible to fear-mongering about their toys.

There was no report linking them. One witness reported a woman who said those words, but the shooter's companion was out of the country.
