Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

They'd have to. They already announced new V-triggers which will alter balance even if that's the only thing they've changed.

98% chance that they do since that's around the time S3 will start.

Of course, they've promised balance changes for every season and even have a dedicated page for balance patch notes.

Its just too early to reveal those details. They probably haven't decided on the final Season 3 balance adjustment.

Yeah but it's like 2 weeks before EVO Japan no?

Wonder what they're gonna do about that

Given Vanilla SFV's less than impressive sales, it seems Arcade Mode may not save fighting games... but fans expected it and wanted it anyway.
Honestly we have so many better way to incorporate single player modes that an arcade mode is like the last thing to worry about. I forgot Injustice 2 had an arcade mode cuz it has other single player modes that are way better.

the fact that they're so blatantly pushing arcade mode makes me laugh. like they were fucking scarred for life when the SFV launch was pretty much ruined by people crying about no arcade mode

now they're like YOU WANT ARCADE MODE YOU MOTHER FUCKERS? HERE TAKE IT TAKE ALL THE ARCADE MODE IN THE WORLD

6 ARCADE MODES!

It wasn't "just" Arcade mode, but it was the most glaring omission. Like, that's the bread-and-butter of countless fighting game players. It's how many of us spent decades playing the originals, pumping quarters into the machine to climb the ladder to beat the boss and get the ending. It was shocking the game launched without an arcade mode, so it was an easy target because even the poorest fighting games still managed to include one over the years.

There wasn't even a good "vs cpu" mode at launch either. No story mode at launch. The "story ladder" was mind-numbingly easy and the art at the end was rushed and sloppy. For solo players, there was almost nothing to do but Survival mode... over and over and over again. It was a drag.

So, yeah, "Arcade Mode" isn't the biggest deal-breaker of SFV's launch, but it was certainly its most notable missing feature. I'm happy to have a mode I and others assumed was pretty much mandatory in the genre come back.
Yep, people were mad at Capcom for not having the bare minimum. If the game launched with like World Tour or if Survival Mode wasn't an unbalanced garbage mess or if Character Stories had difficulty levels and rounds, there would have been less complaints for sure.

Nobody's saying an Arcade Mode will "save fighting games" and tbh, I had no idea fighting games were in trouble. Maybe a few franchises and all but shit that doesn't represent the entire genre. They included an Arcade Mode because fans wanted it. They didn't do it to somehow make their games some GTA level title, they did it purely for the fans who complained and they gave it to them and better.

It's less about "saving" and more about helping fans. You gotta give them credit for that because if they cared about this game selling out we'd be seeing a lot of changes.

They didn't "bother" because they figured the massive, fleshed out story mode would satisfy people more than a couple throw away panels at the end of arcade mode.

Well I mean. If that was their thought then why did they bother with 6 different arcade endings for SFV now when it has a better story mode than MVC:I just as DLC?
Not like they just saw MVC:I and wen't "We need art" now.

I'm still confused on why the character prologues are only 1 round, super easy-mode fights. Most of them only contain 1-3 fights, wouldn't you want to do whatever you can to make that last a little longer?

-Its kinda crazy how people don't read when it comes to this game. Im seeing people all over the Internet pretty much assuming they are gonna get all the DLC characters for free if they have the base game already lol.

-Also those of you who are getting the game for the first time you can probably earn enough Fight Money from this package to get 2-3 seasons worth of future DLC characters for FREE. Don't waste your Fight Money on stages if your gonna play online for the most part since you will see the stages eventually if your opponent owns it and has it set.

If those were at least normal best of two round fights it would at least have been something.

This is wonderful news.

Though

I wonder if Gill is the last boss, considering he is in the ending credits. If so, how will they differentiate him from Uriens Gill alt?

I'd doubt it since they just released a Halloween skin for Urien that makes him look like that..

Fighting games aren't dying but getting people to stay invested is becoming a challenge over the years.

Because people are dumb and don't know what they actually want.

I am going to assume the Season 2 pack might go on sale around that time...might jump back in with this update. But like...Monster Hunter World is the week after. So...=/

I hope this comes with a Pro patch. 1440p with the motion blur option.

Is it true that ALL new games since the pro launch have to have Pro support?
Is this true for games like Street Fighter V A.E or expansions don't count?

I need my pro patch man... Also, can you guys imagine - just IMAGINE

Street fighter V with........................................wait for it......................
........................ HDR!

Boom!

No, that was never actually true

It would have helped if the story mode was good.

No it wouldn't, MK and Injustice games have better Story modes and those games still include Arcade mode.

In fact, the idea of having multiple arcade ladders was implemented in both MK and Injustice games (Injustice even having themed ones like "only villians" or "Only heroes"), what capcom seems to be doing new is the "each ladder has a different ending" bit.

6 ladders for each character. I currently have 20 characters in my roster.

6 x 20 = 120 ladders

Do we know if each path has specific characters/stages that you have to fight with/in, or will it be randomize with the exception of the last boss? I'm personally hoping for the latter.

At least I'm sure that the SFV one will have randomize fights/stages so it shouldn't get repetitive playing through it with different characters.

Why is it a problem that the fights are easy? I thought people playing these as single player games would consider that a boon.

No you do not.
On the one hand, I ain't no shill. And my avatar is an abomination.

On the other, you did get my name right.....

You are a big shill but not for this game lol. Apparently I am though so that’s good to know. Will probably up my shill game even harder now.

People who cop the physical will have at least 168 ladders out the box.

HERE'S YOUR SINGLE PLAYER, YOU BASTARDS.

That should be in a in-game message when you boot it up lol.

Lmao why is the Reveal trailer getting downvoted like crazy. Guess this shit is gonna need a lot to break the hate train.

Great news. Any incentives for people that have the original to buy again?

I guess if you dont have any S1 or S2 character. This might be a good buy. Otherwise its free update so theres no point.

Mmmm, I regret buying 3 characters from each seasons with FM now. Can I buy this and reset my CFN, or create a new one? So I can use my fight money to buy exclusively costumes and stages.
