Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

BTW, seeing the Ryu SF2 ending screenshots and the fact that this has 6 options for arcade mode, does this means there will be 6 endings per character?

Because if so, holy shit, that's insane.

Woah woah, calm down there donald trump, let us mexicans have our representation, okay?
Ryu's endings have always been the same outside of the zero series now that i think about it

I hope they fixed the CPU ai its pretty bad right now or its not insanely easy like the Story Mode and the other Character Story Modes.

Ill take Udon Artists over 2017 Bengus if they cant get AKIMAN or Ikeno full-time for SFV.

So can we expect Sagat to appear in this in some form? Like SF1 arcade route is 4 battles but the game only has 3 SF1 characters currently. Wouldn't be the first time unreleased dlc chars have appeared in a SF5 SP mode either.

So Sagat is all but confirmed now huh?

Was he on the rumor list?

Then again looks like a generic splash page for Street Fighter 1, notice the characters that are in it like adon and olschool birdie, i doubt they're adding them all (unless they're like peter and the dolls), Sagat was the final boss of SF1, so it makes sense they're adding him to the splash, but i doubt things like they actually making the character, it's not like they'd make a Seth for the SF4 mode.

Alternatively, they switched from Solarized Dark to Solarized Light.

An arcade mode though? I like arcade mode in fighting games too, but I'm not buying a fighting game just to play arcade mode for 10 minutes and call it a day.

yeah its good to have, glad it was included for people on the fence. A majority of the hate came from people who were arguing for arcade mode now people are getting all the characters and arcade mode for a cheaper price, they even went above and beyond with the arcade mode. I still feel the game was getting negative buzz was because it didn't release on other consoles now that everything is included in the package theres really not much to discuss.

i also get that i was a early adopter so I'm not even mad about the prices and the extra stuff because i know people are definitely going to try to spin this narrative now.

This is what the CFN site states regarding Arcade Mode in SFV:

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter,
you can enjoy the story paths of 6 SF games.
There's an ending comic panel for each character in each path.
Of course, you can turn on Fight Request while taking on Arcade Mode as well!

So yeah, pretty much every character will get 6 different endings, unless something was lost in translation for that part.

Hot dog!

That's awesome.

But it makes the lack of endings on MVCI's Arcade mode sting more

I hope Ryu's new trigger gives him access to the Satsui No Hado for a limited time. Turning his eyes red, flames etc.

Axe kick pls

Yes, one of the pictures confirmed different endings for each ladder. I guess there's a chance they might limit character selection though. So, you'd only be able to play the SF2 ladder with SF2 characters.

Although that hasn't been said anywhere yet, so it's just speculation.

The main hate was that there was barely any single player content. That's fine. Capcom is trying to correct that with this re-release. But hinging your entire buying decision on an arcade mode seems, idk, a waste of your money?

or they might just limit the endings characters who were in the games get new ones. Others keep their one ending.

This is wonderful news.

Though

I wonder if Gill is the last boss, considering he is in the ending credits. If so, how will they differentiate him from Uriens Gill alt?

The artist who does the character/promotional art for the Ace Attorney games could have been used too. That person's really good.

agreed so much negativity came with this game haters where trying to cling to anything after things were getting fixed.

The S1 and S2 passes will most likely go on sale either near the end of this year or in January. They'll also have a price drop when the S3 pass becomes available, since that's literally what happened with the S1 pass when S2 became available.

Yup. I saw the season 1 pass as low as 7 last week.

He's not.

Nah ryu's vtrigger wont be evil ryu

why would they do that when they could release evil ryu and 99% of us would buy him day 1

Sagat has been one of the rumored season 3 characters for some time now.

Other than Sagat, this does nothing for me as it's all arbitrary single player shit no one's gonna play for more than an hour or two.

Waiting to see the gameplay changes.

I'm glad it's finally confirmed. Hopefully the haters will stop complaining about no arcade mode.

Personally I'm just excited to see new V-Triggers and hopefully some balance changes. Maybe get some more defensive options in there?

Can't wait.

But in january I'm going to get Monster Hunter World and Dissidia NT too, how am I supposed to find the time to play all these games?

Having S1 and S2 characters included just raised my interest to double dip.

More or less, yeah. I've been considering it anyway, so this just makes it even easier to jump to Steam.

I'm wondering if, since Season 1 went down in price after Season 2 became available (and the deluxe 2017 edition) if when this comes out Season 2 will as well. So day one purchasers can get up to parity for, like, $20 or something.

It wasn't "just" Arcade mode, but it was the most glaring omission. Like, that's the bread-and-butter of countless fighting game players. It's how many of us spent decades playing the originals, pumping quarters into the machine to climb the ladder to beat the boss and get the ending. It was shocking the game launched without an arcade mode, so it was an easy target because even the poorest fighting games still managed to include one over the years.

There wasn't even a good "vs cpu" mode at launch either. No story mode at launch. The "story ladder" was mind-numbingly easy and the art at the end was rushed and sloppy. For solo players, there was almost nothing to do but Survival mode... over and over and over again. It was a drag.

So, yeah, "Arcade Mode" isn't the biggest deal-breaker of SFV's launch, but it was certainly its most notable missing feature. I'm happy to have a mode I and others assumed was pretty much mandatory in the genre come back.

If there's an NPC-only Gill, it'll be for the SF3 mode. (And it's certainly plausible that they'd do it using the Urien alt, much like they did Decapre for Story Mode.)

This is crazy especially after MVC:I where they couldn't even bother with one

This is an important takeaway.

I criticized SFV like hot fire at release, but not because I was rooting for it to fail. I love Street Fighter. I want it to THRIVE. I want it to get better, be better, be trend-setting and widespread in its reach. A game that, as they promised, would be great for players of all skill levels.

I got a lot of blowback from several SFV supporters that acted like requesting a proper Arcade Mode was somehow silly or stupid. "Who plays fighting games solo?" they said. "Fighting games are meant to be played against other people!", ignoring decades of history with the franchise where a proper Arcade mode and solo experiences in fighting games have kept solo players engaged.

For many of us, the "haters" of SFV were some of the most passionate Street Fighter fans I knew, and we "hated" because we knew SFV could be better than the bare minimum.

I'm glad to see Capcom taking major steps to correct course.

Can I get an amen?

That's great but that type of mode isn't exactly saving fighting games.

As long as it 1) awards fight money, 2) increases sales, and 3) gets people to stop shitposting about SFV, it will be a success in my book.
