Atlus Makes Fake Metroidvania SMT Trailer to Promote Strange Journey Redux

No way is this not a real project. Most of their promo videos are lazy. as. shit. Why on earth would they spend so much effort putting this together, this close to launch?

And what's with the prices at the end? The descriptions are different, is that just standard/special edition prices or what?

Believe.

He was in that video at one point.
You're goddamn right it was. I was at work when the thread showed up and had only watched the screens.

Jack Frost has so many forms and variants, and could have many more by "mocking" SMT classic compendium. And that Metroid like map, so good.

That looks real cool

Can someone explain the context for why they included it in the trailer? Putting aside how bizarre it is to have something so completely different from the actual game in the trailer, it's not like this is a reveal trailer for Deep Strange Journey. It's a remake of a DS game and one that was revealed something like a year ago. It's not fooling anyone.

The description is that it's Jack Frost and Pyro Jack exploring the Schwarzwelt in a new game called "Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey." So the actual name and price appears at the end of its segment, but with a different logo.

But then "psych, that's not actually what 'Deep Strange Journey' is," and they proceed to show a reel for the real game.

Right, so it doesn't make any sense. What does this do other than annoy people?

This is so weird, thank you Atlus for showing me the game I never knew I wanted to then reveal it was just a joke lol.

Legit the best looking Megaten related game in ages too :|

Eridanus is one of the best dungeons!

You say that now, I'm going to have second thoughts and try to give the dungeon a chance, and then get to it and remember why I hated it in the first place.

The main thought I remember having was "well... if there is a bright side to this, at least it's not SMT1 Neutral Route Cathedral"

Seems like, given the abnormally amount of effort put into this ad, Krobon's really got the chance to make a Jack Bros. + Strange Journey spinoff in their house style. And that's really exciting after both Pharaoh Rebirth+ and the little Konosuba game they made. I hope this pans out for them.

I actually want an Anime of this SMT. Please tell me there is one.

There's one based on the original novel and one based on the a SMT comic called Tokyo Revelation. Theyre both bad.

I am surprised they didn't make a SMT4 anime though, but given how they could barely scrape together a budget for the Persona 4 adaptations I guess it isn't that surprising.

I'm 1000% sure it's real, i dunno if as standalone game or as minigame but i'm sure it's real.
It already happened that a game shown as a prank became real, this is definitively the case, it looks too well made to be just a prank.

Sorry i'm not into the series, is the blonde girl a known character? If not that's another evidence that this is a new game.

You know nothing about the series but you're sure it's real? C'mon. I would like it to be real but who knows. They could just be pulling a Capcom MMX redesign.

I'm not seeing where the trailer explicitly says that the first game is fake, just that it's not Deep Strange Journey. Not to mention it certainly doesn't seem likely to actually be fake, considering the evidence and the obvious amount of effort that went into it.

No one needs to know the series to see there's too much work on this to be just a prank, it's obvious that they are testing the waters, maybe if the response will be underwhelming the game will never see the light but the game is definitively real.

It's just like FFXIV team made a video about fake FFT2. I'm still salty.

Yeah, it's not like it's and unprecedented thing coming from japanese devs either.

I mean it COULD be a real thing, and boy I'd be ecstatic, but it looking "too elaborate to be fake" doesn't really mean anything.

Wow this is 100% just gauging reaction so they have a case to bring it into full production. This is like that Fighting Layer EX "April Fools joke".
