Gran Turismo SPORT | OT | Putting it all on the line

Stupid question to those who have played the beta and who are playing the full version early: Can you miss trophies by importing the beta save data?

BTW, is it just me or did they put this game on a special server? The 60BG download was way quicker than I'm used to. Germany here.

Jumped straight into Sport mode... Got 2nd in my first race and most everybody was really clean :D

The actual handling in this game is just phenomenal to me... First driving game I could legit see myself just casual driving around tracks

Cleared all license tests they weren't so hard vs my memory of previous ones, there could be a "platinum" after gold the game gives you some space. After intermediate there is ... nothing. No advanced.

With the beta, the 250k free and the license rewards you end up with well over 1m and can buy almost any crazy car.

Anything I should totally avoid or buy as soon as possible on the mileage shopshowrooms or does it not really matter aka should buy what I like?

So I've bought this probably on the hype.

I've also just impulse bought a Thrustmaster t150 Pro. Hold me gaf..

Now you're only missing this for the full GT Sport experience:

I hope someone can monitor the game's download and upload data usage. I’m a bit worried knowing how big some save files can get for games like this, and if everything is being saved to the cloud constantly it could be quite a data hog. As someone with a 50GB cap (fortunately only til December) I hope it doesn’t consume significantly more date to play than say, Rocket League does..

I don’t quite get why pretty much the entire game apparently needs to be online all the time. Seems like there’s a lot of the game where that just isn’t necessary. Means when servers go down it will cause real issues with people being locked out of a lot of content..

Wow, I just finished my first Sports Mode race in the full game. Not sure if it was because everyone was new and going by the SR zen (I have a B rating, but that's what you start out with too), but it was *incredibly* well mannered. One guy was driving a little eagerly, and bumped me from behind slightly (enough to throw me off and let him overtake me) and crossed the finish line before me.

But it was a real pleasure and a laugh to see him penalized appropriately, and losing the placement. I feel this is an improvement since the demo last week, where even though someone hit you from behind and it was obviously their mistake, you would lose SR points, and they would not be affected. Here, my SR was not affected at all (in fact I gained SR points at the end of the race), so it looks like they've fixed that. This can only get better =)

Sportsmanship Rating in full effect on #GTS. That SactifiedRight [sic] racer bumped me from behind to get ahead & was righteously penalized.

Only imports some of your cars, money, and mileage points. All trophies and milestones are reset.

Thanks, but this doesn't really answer my question.
For example there's a Bronze trophy called
Experienced Driver:
Drove for a total of 62.5 miles (approx. 100km)

If you have already done this in the beta with no trophies, will the trophy pop-up in the full version when it reads your save file or is it gone forever?

Same with trophies like "bought your first car"

it is the consequence of being an online focused game, also it is FIA affiliated , have to protect those lap times/result

Reminds me of a post in the demo thread that said something along the lines of "The best feeling in GTS is finishing 6th, but actually getting 3rd place after all the penalties are dealt out.".

you have to do the things again

I will not focus on getting the win for a while. I just want to focus on having clean races. I will worry about winning later when I can race clean.

Damn, I wonder how they got the game to know who bumped who.

In this case my vehicle was accelerating steadily and I wasn't weaving in and out, yet the guy managed to hit me from behind. It remains to be seen how consistent this stuff is, but the result seemed almost magical =)

All car data is updated in order to support rain conditions
Adds the opening movie
Several tweaks to level design
The reward sequence has been updated
Several bugs have been corrected

Update 1.02

Rain is Coming?

For those who have the game and don't have PS Plus, does Sport Mode still work like the demo did last week? I was surprised while playing the demo last week that I was able to compete in online races in Sport Mode but I fear they allowed everyone who downloaded the demo to experience everything to entice them to buy the game.

Guys help me decide should I go with the default quality mode as I am on 4K Bravia with PRO and leave dem replays at 30fsp. Or push the PRO to output 1080p + 60fps replays.
I am torn.

Saw this GTS vs. Raceroom sound comparison of the BMW M6 GT3 on GTplanet

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4o1RKWt528

Most in the comments are pretty shocked that GTS doesn't really seem to be that far off from Raceroom.
I think GTS sounds a bit more punchy, I prefer the downshifts/upshifts...compression/decompression and braking sounds in GTS. Raceroom does have a unique gravel/curb sound detail, but it's not always consistent with curbs or gravel.....it happens on the tarmac as well...Maybe they're trying to emulate muffler sounds.....Never playerd RR tbh...

Typical PD, can't even be clear about current and upcoming features. Why not just announce if you have rain in the pipeline, instead of enabling people to interpret patch notes in various ways?

Where does this changelog come from? I thought 1.02 patch notes only said "bugfix"

The only matter of debate regarding those patch notes is whether rain is already in the client, not whether it hypothetically exists (anymore, that is).

It was answered -- all of those statistics completely reset in the full game as far as your account goes. The mileage you put onto a specific car in the beta will still be there when you look over the car's stats, but the game won't acknowledge it toward trophy progress. Everything you earned statistics wise from the demo is completely reset to 0, aside from your DR/SR rankings.

Any events you completed in campaign and arcade are also completely reset, as is your actual level.

And as far as the game goes, having a car transferred in from the demo/beta doesn't even count toward your car purchase trophy at all. I dinged the purchase your first car trophy the moment I actually spent credits on a car, not the moment I booted up the game. I technically hadn't "purchased" a car yet.

Thanks for the replies, I'm probably more conflicted now :(
I don’t plan on playing the online all that much, and yet there is quite a lot for me to do offline. Not to mention setting up my own races. Also, everything you do pays you. So yes, even the custom races you create gives you money (lots of it depending on how you set them up for difficulty and length).

The demo description was that "you can play online even without PS+" so I think the full version need PS+, since they stressed that in demo you don't.

Would someone confirm did I just renew PS+ in vain?

Wow this is good news. One of the main things that bothered me was getting bumped from behind and getting penalised as a bonus. So hyped for the game.

This is the reason (for competitive online gamers) to get GTS instead of any other sim racer this holiday. Wonderful, if these first impressions turn out to be true for the majority of online matches, GTS is a godsend!
