Goeff Keighley: 15 game publishers will premiere new content and make announcements during Gamescom

I'm guessing Sony first party will be absent from Gamescom as well? They've been playing it low-key all year.

Death Stranding
Cyberpunk 2077
FFVII Remake (?)

Either way, my most anticipated titles will be there, should be good.

Most excited for new cyberpunk footage.
Also hope for some positive surprise by Sony. But I feel like there won't be much.

Sony is on that list...
Sure, but I'm talking specifically about their first party titles. I only say that since they've were intentionally absent from E3, which is arguably bigger than Gamescom.

Are they going to reserve showcasing those titles for their own event? I'm uncertain is all, since we've haven't gotten any sort of heads up or confirmation.

I think the only game that will appear from Sony will be Death Stranding. Maybe an interview on the PS5, but I doubt anything more.
Well, the Twitter post says that the publishers on that list will show new content and make announcements and Sony is on that list. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean news games.

Apparently, Sega will announce a AAA title (probably just that new game Creative Assembly have been working on):

I apologize for the port-begging, but somehow bringing their Total War franchise to consoles would be wonderful.

(played it since the beginning with Shogun: Total War)

Oh, didn't know there would be an opening event. Should be fun

It's Geoff, the king of overhyping stuff.
So I'd asume "new content and announcements" could simply be a new trailer, or announcing a release date or some pre order Bonus or demo/beta, etc

True. Though it's not like Sony haven't announced anything since Death Stranding. They've had 2 State of Plays where they announced stuff. Maybe not AAA but then they could also announce some lower profile games at Gamescom. Till they announce the PS5 I doubt we'll be getting any AAA announcements.

Yeah definitely. I could see them announcing some smaller project or maybe some VR stuff.
I wasn't just talking about Sony though, I think in general people should keep their expectations in check regarding these "15 publishers premiering content"

Although I think that it is highly unlikely to happen at Gamescom, I hope that Capcom might show the surprising title that Jun Takeuchi (the head of Capcom Development Division 1) teased back in Dec 2018.
He gave an interview to Famitsu talking about RE2Remake, DMC5, his Dev Division 1, blah..blah... and he mentioned that there's another game in development that will surprise fans and make them think "Wow! They're really making that one?"

Dusk Golem (a.k.a. Aesthetic Gamer) mentioned about this Takeuchi interview that this title isn't even Resident Evil related : "Just to add speculation and flavor to what he said a bit, the surprise title he's talking about is not a Resident Evil game, and is pretty far along in development. Almost assuredly going to be announced next year and released the year after."

I wonder if anyone will announce a game for next gen at this point?? We didn't really have anything (that I can think of) at E3. It might be that time to start announcing some next games...even though some will possibly be cross-gen.

MS *might* seeing as they've announced Scarlett (they did with Halo Infinite), though I assume they'll want a fuller reveal before they really go into the games. Sony won't till they have their PS5 show, so that's either Gamescom or bust. Third parties are really your best bet, though. Mostly on multiplats.

I'm thinking that Sony will provide a new trailer and announce a release date for the Last of Us 2 and new gameplay trailer for Death Stranding. Another thought is perhaps a teaser reveal to Horizon Zero Dawn 2...

EA will be dragon age 4. They've shown a teaser trailer for it, so I reckon there will be some gameplay to go with it. Hopefully this time we can see gay romances at 60FPS and all collectables will be rendered in 4K.

OT, sort of. What the hell is going on with Sony? They haven't said in shit about shit in a shit long time. Microsoft have been keeping in regular dialogue with what they have planned + they showed up at E3. But Sony are just sitting their keeping their mouths shut. What gives?

After E3, it's pretty much impossible to be excited. Like all of you, I expect it to be nothing but boring and uninteresting crap.

Having said that, it would be nice if we got the Demon's Souls remaster.
