“The Lighthouse” - From A24 and “The Witch” director, starting Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson

Poster, spoilered for size

So wide release is October 19, 2019, but this had a limited release already or something? Lots of reviews up already and it’s sitting at 98 percent fresh on RT, 81 percent on metacritic

Also, is this a remake? Looks similar to a 2016 movie that didn’t review very well. Same name

Anyway

The trailer is trending big right now. Good for RP to get some buzz heading into The Batman

Managed to snag one of 2 good seats left for a 7pm showing tomorrow. Going to be quite the day of movies since I'm also going to catch the Judy Garland flick and some awful looking horror movie called Countdown.

Saw it today. Phenomenal movie. Dafoe’s performance reminded me a bit of Daniel Day Lewis in “There Will be Blood.” It’s a very haunting movie that builds and builds up intensity slowly. Great dialogue. Can’t think of a bad thing to say about it really. Highly recommended to anyone who likes off beat movies.

The Witch scared the everliving shit out of me, on top of being a great story. I'll watch anything by this director.

Thank you. I’m rarely reading/watching movie some opinions are enough and if the imdb rating is okay, I’m gonna watch it.
I have to admit that I loved the witch so I’m biased. Cannot wait to see it

Just saw it

it’s easy to many comparison spoilers or reference spoilers so all I’m gonna say is I like it a lot. I liked The Witch and I think this is a considerably better movie than The Witch.

Very strong acting, love the stylistic filmmaking approaches.

definitely check it out

I was excited to see this until I did. It's garbage imo. I barely remember what happened and didn't care when it did. I only remember there were birds, they farted, and it got weird af seemingly just for the sake of it. Maybe I'd just need to watch it again but I highly doubt I will.

I'd recommend Ready Or Not, Knives Out, or Jojo Rabbit instead. Any of these are much more entertaining.

I'm guessing you like less art house films than?

Lighthouse was my favorite film released last year.

I watched it a few weeks ago and didn't like it but it's not a bad movie. I had different expectations for it, so I went into it expecting something else.
