John Campea on Collider's Cancelled Shows

I didn't/don't watch Collider, this video by John Campea just came across my feed:

I don't have an opinion on the situation, I just found his commentary quite entertaining.

Warning: Full of "flowery" language.

I watch Collider Live more often now, especially when it's centered around a shoebox movie in interested in. I didn't even realize they had this much larger network.

One thing no one is talking about, because drama gets clicks and views, is that one of the BIG reasons they ended those live shows is because of California's AB5 law that went into effect on January 1st, and the hosts on those live shows were freelancers. Due to the law limiting freelancers from 35 submissions to an outlet each year, the freelancers got fucked while the full time employees were moved on to other dumb YouTube shows.

All I know is that the viewership has dropped significantly for Jedi Council, Heroes and Movie Talk. They used to get anywhere from 50k to 100+k views. Now they get about 10k views. Even if this AB5 law wasn't in affect, it would still make business sense to axe the shows and refocus.

I personally don't want to spend 3 hours a week or more watching people talk about movie news. They should have tried compacting the shows a long time ago.

More commentary regarding the situation

Jack Hind sounds like a jackass

Rosy Striar (host who got fired) posted a vid on her channel

The only critic anybody should trust and follow is the one and only Dick the birthday boy.

Collider owner, Marc Fernandez, addressed the situation in a somewhat rambling non-apology that borders on cringe at certain points

he basically asks/begs people to stop downvoting leaving negative comments on the videos they have been putting out since the firings

If you just want breakdowns

Why is it that every one of these videos posted about the topic is nearly an hour. Anyone have a summary?

I can see why no one wants to watch these commentators.

They aren't mentioning it because it would hurt their status as victims. Collider drama gets more clicks than criticizing California state government
