Gaf has always had the best community for Gaming and the OT is just the cherry on top that really makes place feel like a home.

I've been on GAF for a long time now, and right now it's easily the best it's ever been.

In a world where Facebook / Google / Reddit / whatever-social-media site is constantly changing their UI and feature set in an attempt to funnel everyone into neat little circle-jerk groups, I can totally appreciate GAF for being easy to use and for encouraging everyone to play in the same sandbox.
 
i remember months leading up to the purge started noticing the modding was getting out of control with what were clear abuses of powers people would get banned for just hinting at wrong think, really made me stop even engaging in most forum threads, and whenever you expressed an opinion opposite to the mob here comes the quote train to beat you into submission.

anyways when the big drama went down all i thought was thank god as the moderation was a shit show and all the boot lickers that put these idiots on a pedestal, i remember seeing all the stupid bishop gifs people would make as offering.

man i was really hoping a new forum would have balanced moderation and pondered the thought to create new forum for a hot second but knew it was too much work and i'm lazy. anyways resetera initially seemed like it may at least try then slowly just ended up going the same way as pregaf. in the end the mob refused to change they're just under a new name.

What's the break down by forum category? You know, Gaming, Politics, Off-topic, Communities? You should be able to see the stats for those as site owner.

It can tell us if people are actually looking across the site instead of staying for a short time and leaving as that would mean the site has a good bounce rate.
 
GAF is a more welcoming place than that other one. People are actually allowed to have fun!

I mostly lurk but the upswing in activity lately is noticeable. Long may it continue :messenger_beermugs:
 
If GAF ever shut down work productivity would increase 10 fold LOL.

All though it was total BS, the split between GAF and ERA in the end turned out to be a good thing. Here is to even better numbers for 2020 and Evilore making the same thread in 2021 with even better numbers!
 
Happy to see. I'd like to see GAF averaging a good six or seven hundred members during primetime.

I keep meaning to make some OT's for things like TV shows. Once new seasons of shows crop up or some new books are released I'll get more active on that front.

Eras name is in direct reference to gaf, you will find it is "anti gaf" moreso than gaf is "anti era". I mean, the n word ( no not than one) is banned on era, so who needs to branch out?

I meant the New GAF in it's current state not of the old, but yes your right. I lurked here back in 2012 and wish it was like that again, but I guess that's Era anyways lol

Awesome (re)growth...I love to see this. Less than two months left on my ERA ban and I can formally request account deletion there. It's actually nice to have not been there in over a month now. I leave my internet time much less angry than I used to. :)
 
Era is definitely our rival. I like the way things operate here rules wise, but it needs more leftists in the politics section to have more balance. Hopefully that comes.

Modern leftists struggle to form a defensible argument because the playing field has been tilted in their direction for too long and they've grown complacent. The ones that try like Arkage Arkage are mentally weak and flame out when people don't just bow down and kiss their feet.

We have plenty of classical liberals/90s Democrats. I'm perfectly OK with a lack of screeching ideological leftists just as I'm fine with a lack of ideological far right types.
