what do you guys do for tendonitis

i'm riddled with countless injuries and chronic pain, from broken bones to multiple lacerations and shit from a few stabbings (one near my collar bone and dangerously close to my heart)

the above have all healed well after rigorous rehab and exercise

tendonitis flare ups in my back are absolutely brutal tho, i know loading exercises and the like help which i already do, but i'm still struggling to recover

weed takes the edge off, i already stretch and lift and run regularly, looking for other things to relax the muscle groups

maybe i need to do more pull ups or something, or just hang from the bar for 15 minutes before bed

Sorry to hear that man. Given the things that you already try to help with it, have you tried massage and or acupuncture?
 
I just remembered. My dad had back injuries, slipped discs and tendonitis. He took these supplements that he swore by. Glucosamine and chondroitin. He had things that would set the tendonitis off and make it unbearable, mainly twisting whilst lifting something heavy. But on those supplements he never complained about pain as long as he didn't put himself in harms way.

yeah, i saw the best physio in mayo florida a few years ago

the breakdown i got is tendonosis requires strenuous eccentric loading whereby tension is applied to a muscle as it lengthen

So something like pull ups with a slow decline to prolong eccentric loading? Did your physiotherapist give you a breakdown of good exercise routine + nutrition? I know there's some research claiming glucosamine & chondroitin sulfate can help with tendonitis too (this is really controversial though and findings are mixed), also an extreme option is a cortisone shot (but that carries a lot of risks).

These are just ideas though, I'm nowhere near qualified to provide legitimate advice for this so definitely don't incorporate any of it, I'm just giving ideas based off what I learned from classes. Maybe collecting a bunch of ideas like this and running them by your physiotherapist could be one way forward?

i will probably get multiple cortisones soon from my gp, whatever it takes to stay active / on the field

So I deal with chronic inflammation and pain as well, though I haven't been diagnosed with tendonitis, tendonitis also stems from inflamation. I've seen dozens and dozens of specialists. I'll tell you some of the biggest things that helped me with my inflamation in the end.

1. The Wim Hof Method. This made such a dramatic difference that my chiro literally gasped as she was finally able to move my completely straight spine. I hadn't told her that I had started doing it. She put her hands to her mouth and she was tearing up as she told me that she was just about to tell me that there probably wasn't anything else she could do because she had been trying for months to get it to move. Let me tell you, I cried. A month later and she literally had me teach her receptionist the method because she had chronic arthritis, and we went and jumped in our cities frozen lake together. This has helped more than I can put into words for so many issues. None the least, the pain. And you feel freaking energized and more awake than you've ever felt after a session so there is that as well lol.

2. Ease up on your workouts, build up your tendons. Might have to stop going for full on bulk where you're putting your body in a constant state of repair on top of dealing with the tendonitis. At least, slow down until you get it under control, then find out where you can go with it.

3. Eating right. This is obvious but with your body in a constant state of repair you need to be giving it plenty of what it really needs to do that, especially as you train more and more. My wife can help out more with this if you want, this is her territory.

4. The supplements that have helped me the most are, magnesium and turmeric for the inflammation and pain and a B complex for my nerves. I have this issue where when I get a flair up, I get super freaking tense and it ends up pulling something out of place. So the B complex helps with calming my nerves. Again, my wife might know something for tendonitis specifically, it is her territory.

Hope this helps. Feel free to hit me up about anything. Also, you don't have to pay for the Hof course, but ideally you DO want to learn from someone with experience. I have experience showing people, I'd be more than willing.
 
My mom has muscle and tendon issues from hashimoto's disease and she had to have tendon's cut in her hands and wrist to keep them from drawing up and making them useless. She lives in agony.

I can't imagine how shit it must be to have it in your back.
 
back muscle is basically clenching and spasming like a maniac

the good news is this usually means it's rapidly recovering, fighting inflammation

You can have your tendons cut and reset but according to my Mom she's got almost no strength left in her hands. She had to give up painting. :\

I really hope that some kinda solution for such a common problem can be found.

it's my back, i do stretch regularly tho and the last image i got gave the radiologist indication that it's indeed some kind of chronic tendinitis

Oh okay I dunno, I bet you've tried everything. Do you get pain relief from using a muscle relaxer on your lower back and upper glutes? Ever stretch with Roller?

I think if it gets bad enough there are surgeries to have the nerve blocked. I haven't looked into it too much, but I know people that are on disability for severe spinal damage and that's something that his pain doctor has brought up.

Tesseract Tesseract When it gets bad and the pain is overwhelming, after I've done all I know I can and know that I now have to wait it out, not knowing if it's going to be hours or days till it subsides... I listen to this for motivation. I don't know why, but it made me think of you so hear you go. :messenger_bicep:

 
Weed, painkillers and a visit to a doctor that specializes in those things.
Or, maybe try one of those shamans. I believe it's called hollistic medicine.
It can't hurt and you can get high with the shaman.

I used a device similar to this to get rid of an tennis elbow.
 
ja that's the thing, i usually put one on my trap and another on a pec

on bed, space out to some ghost in the shell or something

for anyone with a history of injuries

i can confirm, tendonitis is worse than broken bone

Only got it in my arms as a musician. All I can say is just stretch every day and anytime before you are about to do anything remotely strenuous. Physio and other things help, but they should be able to give you some exercises to strengthen the tendons so you can do a lot of self care at home. I get the occasional flare up from time to time when playing but backing off a bit and stretching usually makes it go away.

We have it for life unfortunately so you have to find someway to manage it.
 
well-blended green veggie smoothies every single day. vital proteins collagen powder is useful for strong joints and tendons. the gluten in bread is useful as well. citrus for its vitamin c is very important. i throw in whole lemons in my smoothies very very useful. orange juice as well. the lysine in beans is good. but u def gotta combine that with a lot of lemon. i feel dark colored foods has been useful like black beans, blackberries and raspberries and cocoa powder. i think the omega 3s in flax seeds and chia seeds is useful as well. walnuts/egg yolks good. kale is a must. white rice and almonds for energy. lol theres a ton of different foods I incorporate in my diet and they're there for a very specific reason. i'm bloated like 24/7 cuz of all the vegetation/fiber i eat, but its better than the pain I was feeling before. my body is constantly being fed nutrients and phytochemicals.

i went to physical therapy cuz of back problems years ago and read the supple leopard like a madman cuz of the problems I was having and learned a lot, but the book and doctors never went over diet. I was always fukking tired and fatigued doing the exercises (along with working at the same time) and wasn't seeing the results I was looking for. back still is effed up and I feel a lot of tightness, but i do a lot of physical work so of course its not gonna be perfect but i feel like I'm in a better zone/mindset than before. never took any painkillers or medicine didn't want to block the pain i just changed up my diet to be less fatigued and more energetic to get work done while at the same time trying to maintain decent form walking/sitting down/bending and lifting things up from the ground. i don't do heavy weights anymore i just care about endurance and having the energy to do basic everyday movements. I read eat & run by a famous ultramarathoner scott jurek & learned how he fueled up to be able to run all those 100 mile ultramarathon races and not break had some decent stuff in it. learned alot about nutrition from dr fuhrmans books & plant based nutrition (idiots guide) as well as a college nutrition textbook. i still eat like a burger mostly everyday and yogurt and cheese and egg yolks, but I def eat a ton of vegetation now in the form of smoothies (used to eat extremely huge salads but took forever to eat so i switched to smoothies).
 
Healing is process. You sound like you're doing really well activity wise since you're able to run and are keeping up with your rehab routine and all. All you can really do to take are of tendinitis is clean up your diet to the extreme, limit stress on the joints so more elliptical and swimming even swimming exercises in the pool to have great workouts yet reduce the eccentric portion greatly but the payoff is you still work all your muscles to a great degree just less wear and tear from a typical workout. But yeah, consider the keto diet and just take sugar and grains out of your diet eat the right foods. Sleep well. Drink water like it's your job, if you can drink 1.5 gallons you're going to feel a lot better in maybe even just a week's time. Limit stress

And myofascial release 2-3 times a week will make you feel better. Sauna therapy is extremely beneficial. If you can relax in there for 30 minutes to an hour the benefits are just insane. I've been trying to up my sauna game recently. On top of a good program, sitting in one several times a week is a must with the current research pointing towards its great life improving benefits. It will help your body greatly

What else....maybe cbd oil high quality cbd oil if you're doing well and can afford it? Idk, the stuff is incredibly expensive but people have been saying it actually helps. Gotta take a wholistic approach and start switching things up bro. You might just be doing too much and need to step it back in which again, the pool workouts are your friend

I just went through 3 week of physiotherapy using similar methods (stronger devices than for homemade use tho) and it did fuck all for my tennis elbow. Gonna see my doctor next week for a cortisone shot.

Fwiw, my treatment was 10 sessions of 30 min modulated TENS, 20 mins of microcurrent, 8 mins of ultrasounds, 8 mins of laser, plus deep tissue massage at the end.

All you need is a foam foller, a lacross ball and a spiked roller massage sort of tool and you're you're own masseuse. Although, a masseuse (an excellent one) is well worth the money to be dishing out

You can learn myofascial release on youtube through a ton of different methods. You may have some problem areas and simply using those tools might solve the issue
