Just been told by my boss that we may close on the 20th until the 16th of April due to Corona Virus, and it will all be paid leave!!!

i work in an office with around 3000 people.....we have been asked to work remote for 2 weeks

Fuck working...its porn and netflix while i wiggle my laptop mouse periodically.....might even work on a macro

Luckily I work in a branch of schools in finance/admin so won't have to work, but I will probably do the same, porn, Netflix, Kanye and gaming till I go back to work.

That"s a pretty fucked up reason to be happy about getting time off, people are getting sick and dying and your giddy like a little girl.
Thats messed up man, hope you and your loved ones dont get sick but your attitude about the whole situation is disgusting.

It's like when you throw away left overs and people say "What about starving kids in Africa?"
Well, what about them? If I could teleport my leftovers to them I would. But I can't, and I'm full.. So... 🤷‍♂️

I say let OP enjoy this. I feel for those who are sick and have lost loved ones, but if my work did that I'd probably make an even MORE OVER THE TOP THREAD TITLE!!!11

What if this affected you and your family directly by getting the corona virus would you still be glad to get time off?

So I cannot be happy for having time off paid to ensure my safety and ensure my families safety, all whilst keeping my job security and earning a living? Hmm okay.

I never mentioned about being happy over people dying, simply over knowing I will be a bit more safer and get time off paid in the process.

I do not want anyone to die and it breaks my heart to see the losses of life, but don't take a semi joking post as the gospel brother, hope you and your loved ones stay safe x

Yeah your thread shows a lot of empathy for those affected by this, your not happy because your "ensuring you and your families safety" but that your getting time off the screw around while other people are suffering.

If getting time off gave my family the virus of course I wouldn't want it.
And I'd rather continue working if it meant a guarantee that my family won't get it.
But if my family is safe, and I get time off anyway (like OP) you're damn right I'm gonna enjoy it!

It's not like I want more people to get sick so I can have time off.

My thread just contains me joking about and enjoying holiday, I don't get why you are getting so up your own arse over this? No-one here wants people to die or be at risk, if anything self isolation reduces the risk so I really don't get your whole aggro towards me.

Don't think you can understand me as a person just over one jokey post mate, I wouldn't do the same to anyone else as you simply never know anything about anyone, especially by judging them off a non serious thread.

And sorry I am not depressed over getting time off paid boo, I guess we should all be mopey like yourself aye? ;)

We might get to work from home but my boss haven't decided yet. I prefer to work from home, i dont have to drive and waste time traveling, plus i can work in my underwear.

Going by your logic I should never go to a nice restaurant again because there are people less fortunate than me who can't afford it.
Or heck, I should give up gaming because there are people who have no thumbs.
Hell, I should also stop watering my garden because there are homeless people.
 
Can't say I'm not jealous, my partner works in London and her office have been given the next 2 weeks to work from home. Better safe than sorry. I'm glad they're taking measures to mitigate the spread of this thing.

Our company just had the news that the ExCel have pushed a show back to July. Makes me think a lot of expos and shows will be cancelled soon.
 
You know, this thread got me thinking about something. What if, god forbid, but what if we all have to go to isolation, what if it really gets extremely serious.
Chances are, if we go into isolation in our homes, we'll be spending more time on GAF. But, what happens if EviLore EviLore gets corona and something happens to him? GOD FORBID! But still,
what if? What happens to gaf? Who's gonna run things? Is there a contingency plan?

I have to work remotely and I actually have a lot of shit coming due and no practical home office setup

so basically i'm fucked
 
We are 2000 people team in just one division of my work.

It's not easy to stop all those associates on a dime and set people up with company laptops, VPNs and remote access in 3 days. And many of us do large scale graphic work on proprietary CAD software. But we are doing a 2 week test run of WFH for the sake of future prep starting Monday.

I'm not concerned about being at work. I'm more annoyed that when people take off a sick day for any other reason, such as normal allergies.... we have several individuals that mumble gossip about whether that person has Virus. I don't want to be here to hear that kind of shit talk.

I also don't mind 2 weeks to pretend to be working at home either, cannot lie.
