Alright console warriors of both Microsoft and Sony! Make sure you are following your console fanboy insecurity protocol now that PS5 is going to be talked about! In case you've not been staying on top of things here is how you are supposed to argue.

If your console has more TF make sure you never shut up about it. Nothing else matters to you. TF's are king for your cause. No games even matter. This is critically important because odds are you have no clue in hell what a TeraFlop even is and that is fine. It is just a number and so long as the console that makes you feel secure has a bigger number you are golden!

Now--on the chance that your console has fewer TF's than the enemy your purchasing justification priorities are as follows:

1. CPU clock speed and number of cores. Again this is just a number but as long as your number is bigger you've got those precious bragging rights and most importantly self worth.
2. Hard Drive Size. It's all about those Terabytes of storage baby! If you're lucky your console of choice has a larger hard drive. Should that be the case you've just won the damn fanboy lottery my friends!
3. Form factor. It doesn't matter what the console even looks like--your console is better. Find something remotely close in the real world that resembles that filthy other console and mercilessly make fun of it for that. Series X is totes a refrigerator and if the PS5 sticks with a traditional look it totally is a 1990's VCR. There--gave you a freebee.
4. Whatever console you plan to buy has the best controller. Doesn't matter if Microsoft resurrects the Duke or Sony removes their thumbsticks. That controller is 10x better than the console you're not buying. Never forget that.
5. First party games. Loyalty matters and 1st party studios keep their lights only by you fighting in every Twitter post about how their first party titles are superior. You need not even buy the games that the beauty of it because everyone knows that Naughty Dog care way more about you being a pedantic prick on Twitter about their game to someone who prefers Gears Of War!
6. Lastly. And probably the most important one. The fanboys for the other consoles are thee worst. They're way worse than your console fanboys by far.

In closing--just have fun with it y'know? Its not considered being an asshole when you are fighting on behalf of a mega corporation that cares only about your money.

It's funny because when the current gen systems launched, the narrative was that the ps4 had no games but games weren't as important as raw power. Then around the time the x1x announced the narrative switched to games being more important than power.

Can someone explain the difference between gddr6 and HBM to me? Will it really make a difference? Cost? I know nothing about them

All I know that my Radeon VII 16GB HBM2 can do 1TB/s, which is nearly what GDDR6 can do, and supposedly more power efficient but GCN is not good enough. Plus more reports of GDDR6 degrading much more quickly, aka aging, yet HBM2 is much more reliable. Overall, it's a much more high quality choice used for workstation GPU's, mostly.

Also its important to understand that he and the devs are talking about the PS5 in isolation not in comparison to the XSX.

Jason has also said both are more powerful then a rtx 2080.
Statements about these consoles applies to both of them. In terms of power its the closest it's ever been.

Yup, I hate Microsoft before even Xbox being a thing. Related to all fails with Windows/microsoft throughout the years. Xbox One launch is 100% pure microsoft identity. They're trying to act "friendly" recently which is NOT the case, they're bullied by PS4's success. We can survive and have great gaming generations even without anyone competing with Sony, but I can't wrap my head around how horrible it'll be if Xbox was the dominant. DRM's, microtransactions everywhere, no "smart delivery" for sure for next gen, and lots of crap.

I don't hate Microsoft/xbox out of nothing, they are a shit company that I would laugh if they go bankrupt. On the other hand, I love Nintendo and SEGA, and hope they can compete again in the Big League. (I don't have a Switch, just saying)

Ball is in Sony's court now. Showing their hardware last means they get to control the narrative around next-gen tech. So even if they come in with a weaker GPU, say, they get to frame it like "we have such and such advantage in the other areas", or maybe "Combined, full-speed GDDR6, the way it should be", or even "Custom RT silicon separate from RDNA2 means more than raw TF".

How do you figure? What is to keep Microsoft from releasing more information. I doubt Sony are going to negate everything Microsoft have done to this point with whatever they show tomorrow.

It is misinterpretation that tomorrows reveal is some kind of "response", if they planned to be at GDC and have a presentation, but doing it online because of event got canceled, they probably started to plan it +6 months ago.

More like either it is just random luck that reveals are so close, or MS knew about Sonys presentation and revealed their info few days before
