PS5 reveal tomorrow

Yeah but these are still slower and their speeds are inconsistent. PS5 need to have full proprietary solution to ensure the same speed just like MS had done.
Considering how close current gen is, the upcoming just might be even closer to each other in terms of features and function.

I wanna see one of my MOST anticipated games running on PS5. Ghost of Tsushima will definitely look phenomenal on the new machine! Also looking forward to whatever Kojima is going to give me on PS5 because he's a magician that pushes whatever engine he's working on to the LIMIT. Its so good to be a big lover of this medium and I also feel sorry to the ones that feels so attached to one single platform and refuse to expand and discover what the others got to offer. Maybe one day you'll learn, maybe.

Sony are being such little tryhards,
I mean they are number 1 and they dont have the confidence to go first and they have to wait for xbox to unveil the specs first.

Sometimes it's not smart to run and punch quickly even if you pack the power of Mike Tyson, as you might get countered by an uppercut punch that might not knock you down, but lose points in the long run if the opponent is strong enough.

Guys we need to break clean from the HDDs and platter spinners, and not only them but SATA SSDs too if we are willing to play and continue to ask for more and more from the games. These nvme solutions are game changers and not even PCs have this kind of bespoke solutions as of yet, I'm talking about proprietary decompression hardware that are mostly found on the storage farms, datacenter and supercomputers etc. Now this will not be cheap as a starter but it will be worth it in a few years when some games can only be played on consoles, and asking for PCs ports may be futile even then if they are not accepted and pushed to like a good portion of rigs across the globe. Look at Steam hardware survey and you will realize the upcoming consoles are going to be faster AND powerful than 98% of PCs. We have gone from 'is the next gen going to be the last console generation?' to 'consoles look like the only place to play' with only two generations.

Please tell me this is satire.

People might get angry at this but I hope tomorrow they talk more about what games coming more than PS5's specs.
How about both? Why not ask for both? It is not too much to ask imo since they've scrubbed their supposed events to drip feed us info for valid reasons but they promised more and more small tidbits but we got none, so they kinda have to blow their loads now and continue to do so in the coming months.

me too, I don't have ps3 and 4 so backward compatibility would be an instant deal for me

Why would it be? Is it not true in your opinion?
Of course not. There are already SSD's as good as whats in the consoles available now on PC, and people with slower SSD's will just have longer loading. Sure it may get to a point where mechanical HDD's are no longer viable for next gen games, but even thats far from certain. Console fanboys really have this weird belief that SSD's are going to cure cancer or something. And as for you suggesting next gen games wont even work on PC's, well thats just hilarious.
I swear this is the first new gen for a lot of you.

To me specs talks are really, really boring, what I care about is end result, which is....games. I don't care how powerful or weak consoles is, whats gonna get me to buy your system is games, thats the exciting part....for me at least.

They better show some games and Backwards compatibility goodness
BC already confirmed as for games I don't know about that since they said they'll talk about the architecture of the PS5. But hey, running a game on the console out of nowhere isn't a bad idea at all. Especially that its going to be live

I work in what I guess you could call enterprise IT. So you know I do a lot of SAN shit, emc or netapp, virtualized storage running on RAM in mainframes, all that shit. It's really amazing just how far behind consumer storage is to stuff in even small datacenters. And it's not like the storage in the datacenters are expensive. It just progresses every year. Meanwhile shit in Macbooks, Windows PCs, consoles, etc, are still literally back in the dark ages of what would be cutting edge in 2005. I mean we're here hoping for storage controllers that were cheap 10 years ago show up in new consoles. It's funny how far behind the consoles are.

Vary between people. I asked for specs because without them, I probably not be playing Kingdom Hearts 2 at 60 fps. While I enjoyed on my PS2, replaying on PS4 was a blast.
While some games you like don't necessary need powerful machines (Persona, KH), others I like really need a bump in specs (CoD, Doom, Witcher 3).

We know PS4 compatibility.
We don't know if it will be just bare bones and we don't know if backwards compatibility is just PS4

Already been confirmed so your wish is granted

yes, that's exciting news. I love it. I absolutely love my digital PS library. I want the whole PS line. I have two PS2's, my PS3, and lots of titles I'd love to get one device for. Another thing I'd love is some sorta Vita/PSTV compatibility. Impossible, but I think it could be accomplished.

There's a ton of great titles. I think you're lucky to experience it all (on one device hopefully!). I have so many awesome memories since the days of the original console. I have been a fan since the first console was hot on the market. Even the demo discs were awesome.

Would definitely love to see GoT tomorrow, such a beautiful game.

One Ticket Good sir!

It's about reveal. Btw. you can change clock speed. :D

This is true and it's my prediction. If CU match the rumor (Where 9.2 was calculated from) but clocks are higher, we will know. However the clock can only be raised so much before we have overheating problems and a decrease in reliability 🙈

You also have to consider the trade-offs though.

Increasing the clock to try to match XSX leads to:

-Increased heat
-Increased power consumption
-Increased fan speed/noise
-Decreased reliability

All that for the sake of making PS5 closer? They might stay at 9.2 and focus on their games + secret sauce talk lol

Look two opposing opinions and the second is right. Optane SSDs etc. and cutting edge stuff is only in small number of PC cases (less than 0.5%) and even then they are not created the same. Just cause you used the term 'Console fanboys' I'm not gonna argue, you seem like a good guy but it will be impossible to sway an unenlightened PC elitist within the scope of these forums. Just gonna quote my friend here: "Meanwhile shit in Macbooks, Windows PCs, consoles, etc, are still literally back in the dark ages of what would be cutting edge in 2005."

Oh I am not calling anyone a fanboy and I am definitely not a PC elitist. I prefer to play games on consoles. I was just pointing out that it's weird how behind the consoles are when it comes to storage. That's all.

He was talking to me i think. I cant really be bothered to reply though. We will know soon enough at the end of year anyway.
