Such a fast response usually means they are about to backfire with something better.
and not complete at that!Does this backward compatibility chart/explanation means we'll get only PS4/PS4Pro compatibility?
*Cerny explaining that Teraflops don't matter as much as fanboys think they doCerny is downplaying Teraflops... not a good sign.
*Fingers crossed!
It was literally their GDC presentation, that's been known since they teased it. It's also exactly what they said it would be.This is a disastrously bad reveal that's failed to generate any excitement, and postures Sony as massively out of touch with what people give a shit about. This should've stayed on the cutting room floor. I'm here to find out what's exciting about PS5, not to be in a fucking engineering lecture in a junior college.
I expected 10-11 so that's about right.36CU@2.23Ghz = 10.3TF
That presentation was awesome. As a computer science and math guy, I wish that I could take a course on game console architecture from Professor Mark Cerny.
Seems like they prioritized speed over power, which I think will turn out in the end. If the "SSD dream" he discussed turns out at launch the system will feel amazing to use. Hoping for a buttery smooth OS. Disappointed at no PS1-3 BC.
That was literally a deep dive. That was not a reveal and a "Deep dive' neither.
This was a shoot in the foot for PS.
You can rationalize and blindly defend all you'd like, but this was dry and untimely. They could've released this quietly in addition to something that would satiate an excitement starved audience -- it's a huge misfire from corporate and serves to illustrate the upheaval occurring in SIE management. It was literally their GDC presentation, that's been known since they teased it. I told y'all it wasn't a proper reveal event. lol
CHOO CHOO! Thanks to everyone who participated in the HYPETRAIN. We are officially SOLD OUT!
Grab those snacks, run the bath, and enjoy the show. It's gonna be a wild ride.

I don't have to rationalize something that was exactly what they said it was, fam. If you had expectations beyond this being a deep dive into the tech, which it was, then that's on you.You can rationalize and blindly defend all you'd like, but this was dry and untimely. I'm not alone in this sentiment, market analysts are a little confused as well. Was this the right move for Sony right now? Unlikely. Will they recover? Well yes, and I'm sure the PS5 will be great. But this was a mistake, point blank.
It was a good time while it lastedso.. what happened to this train?
I'm hype af after that. They're innovating like crazy with this gen.so.. what happened to this train?
Same, because it's PlayStation. I have to say though, that Sony's marketing and communications are SHIT at the moment.I'm hype af after that. They're innovating like crazy with this gen.
The earlier you get to the acceptance stage the betterHere is how it compares:
GPU
XSX > PS5 (14.8%)
SSD
PS5 > XSX (56.4%)
Multiplats should look identical overall, and XSX has no exclusive for 2 years. Seems like a muddy situation here.

After such a long silence, this was an extremely bizarre way to discuss the PS5. I have no idea why they did it this way and I don't think it's going to do them any favors.

I think you're the one that should elaborate when you STATE that multiplats will look identical given the disparity in power and also of focus between the 2 architectures. If 36 CUs outwork 56 CUs the multiplat developer should fired, regardless of the respective clockings.Did I say something wrong though? Point it out.

FPS has nothing to do with the number of CUs in a GPU. Biggest factor for high fps is the CPUWill not outwork, but expect like 60fps on PS5 and 90+fps on XSX. Something like that.
Dont forget:
TF
CPU speed
CUs
SSD storage amount
Ram bandwidth
