Whats worse is the idiots who act like it is actually some kind of measuring tool. Its a dick waiving contest that means absolutely nothing. Its driving me nuts. The software and social features will drive the sales the furthest.

This is literally what they were going to talk to developers about at GDC. Cerny is gonna deep dive into specs for developers and you might get a peak at hardware since it is now a public event. You're going to see a controlled tech demo if you see anything at all. They're not gonna go out and treat it like a Playstation Direct or E3.

Well we know both the Pro and X1X sold significantly less than the base models.

Specs will matter least this generation. Both Sony and Microsoft are comfy with the idea of a mid-gen referesh. Nothing stopping Sony from amping up their "Pro" to surpass the XsX if it's more powerful, and nothing stopping Microsoft from doing the same if Sony's is more powerful. And nothing stopping either company from hanging on to their hardware advantage by outplaying the competition.
This. I suspect Sony had no intention of a PS5 Pro at launch. So if their console is 9.whatever TF as has been rumored they will probably tease a PS5 Pro coming at a later date so they can show off power now. I do not see Sony doing what Microsoft are rumored to be doing where they release 2 consoles at launch.

They have a huge audience and following. The most popular in the market isnt always the most powerful. Just look at phones, cars, TVs, headphones etc.

Honestly a weak PS5 is going to blow.
You get the 3X, games look better but you miss the sony IP stable and japanese connections.
You get the ps5, games look worse and you do miss the last first party classic racing sim in existence, Forza.
With only Forza on the negative side, ps4 was an easy decision. Now... I don't want to get Gamecubed again.

I agree. I think the mid gen refreshes kinda fucked over early (and even not so early adopters) since the closer we've come to the end of this gen, the more developers have focused on the Pro and X as targets and the base consoles as afterthoughts. Playing Ori and the Blind Forest on a One S right now is testing my patience with how unoptimized it is and it's a fucking console exclusive.
Next gen I just want the PS5 and XSX to be it (with the obligatory Slim versions later), especially when they will seemingly be a pretty large step up from last gen.

It made sense this gen. 4k adoption blew up out of nowhere since the panels became ridiculously inexpensive, I don't see a reason for another one especially if this is a 360 situation where they engineered more powerful hardware than the current consumer GPU's.

Re7 could certainly use some of that magic. The graphical downgrade from the 2d mode was too much for me to keep playing it.Imagine playing Skyrim, NMS or Firewall Zero hour with clean image quality.
