Fucking Democrats.

In particular:

Hey, Pocahontas, the reason they fired people are because they literally cannot exist without customers. If they aren't helped to keep existing, those jobs are gone forever.

And I am willing to bet they will try to strip out middle class relief and lower the stimulus back to only being for people who make <$50,000. Because "muh millionaires!1!"

Wouldn't mind seeing the voting record on this. Cruz was complaining about it yesterday as he didn't like how Boeing and GE were getting a bunch of special treatment in it.

McDonalds Canada is now banning take-out.

As of March 22nd, we will no longer be offering take-out service in our restaurants. This means our dining rooms will now be completely closed. In addition, we will also stop offering curbside pickup. However, Drive‑thru and McDelivery service will still be available for those seeking convenient and affordable food options while they practice social distancing.

Yeah, it's time to go stockup at the grocery store now.

Trump had the balls to say on national television that states require different responses, and that is why he is letting governers tailor their responses. Thank god someone gets that no non-fascist government can handle a country the size of the US.

Please stop not blaming Trump and get back to your regularly scheduled NPC programming.

These fucking idiots. The only reason regular americans have regular pay checks and jobs is because of these industries. I have no problem with wanting to avoid stock buy backs or golden parachutes, but if there are no curise/hotel/airline/oil/ industries welp there goes a shit ton of jobs.

Oops I forgot Bill and Jeff can just give each american a Million dollars each it will only cost 500 Million dollars. And every small business owner owns at least 2 ferraries and has 5 butlers, why do they need cash amrite.

Like I said in another topic, Stabenow and Schumer were whining about "millionaires" getting the money in context of people making $75,000 getting help. They are absolutely clueless and actively hate the most economically important part of the country.

And Trump has said that he wants to avoid helping companies who threw away their profits with buybacks unless they meet more stringent requirements.

Not sure if already posted but they discovered potential new symptoms of the virus.

One of the most unusual symptoms of coronavirus (COVID19) infection is the loss of a sense of smell and taste. I learned about this yesterday from a friend in Italy who I've been so worried about. She finally confessed that she likely had it two-three weeks ago and is normalizing. Symptoms included profound fatigue, fevers, and cough. Her most peculiar symptoms, however, were a profound loss of smell and taste. She sanitized her flat, but did not smell the bleach. She watched garlic browning on the stove, but could not smell it. Nor could she taste these strongly scented vegetables like garlic or fennel. Fortunately, all of her symptoms are resolving. She is one of the lucky ones.

My friend also noted that, anecdotally, physicians have commented that a significant proportion of patients are presenting similarly. No studies have been done because these physicians are overwhelmed. According to the Lancet, 9% of all infections in Italy are among medical personnel; in the hardest hit region of Lombardy, 20% of providers were infected. They are struggling to stay alive, with a shortage of staff, ventilators, and personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, gowns). The European Union has failed to provide support. China has stepped up, sending tons of medical equipment, masks, and even physicians to help. While this is critically important now, it is likely not entirely altruistic. Some say Europe is being wooed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, who reportedly said he hoped to establish a "health silk road" as part of China's global One belt, One Road initiative.

While the Italians have not been able to systematically study the loss or alteration of smell (anosmia) or taste (dysgeusia), German virologist Hendrik Streek has been busily at work. During an early cluster of cases in Germany, linked to auto supplier Webasto, Streek's team had the opportunity to take daily samples from the infected workers isolated in a hospital, as well as interview them to learn about the progression of symptoms.

In an excellent interview, Streek described how his team went from house to house and to every infected person in the district of Heinsberg. They took many samples from the environment and interviewed a number of families."Two thirds, described a loss of smell and taste lasting several days." As with my friend, it is difficult for sick people to remember the exact time course of their illness. Streek's sense was that the smell abnormality occurred a bit later in infection.

These same findings were also seen by Massimo Galli, Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Milan, though he has been too busy to quantify the finding. He also noted that these peculiar symptoms were also noted later in the course of infection so won't be of value as a clue to early diagnosis.

Having practiced infectious disease for forty years now, the only other infection I've seen with a loss of smell was Herpes simplex encephalitis, so I was intrigued by this unusual symptom.

It's not entirely clear what is causing these symptoms. Some viruses destroy the cells or cell receptors in your nose. Others infect the brain via the olfactory sensory nerves. Most disturbingly, this ability to infect the brain is thought to explain some of the cases of respiratory failure in COVID19 infections.

It's easy to test for loss of smell with a variety of household items—citrus, soap, or cleaning supplies. You can test taste with sweet, salty, sour, or bitter items.

There was also a report from Iran of patients with loss of smell and also of vision, per Dr. Ebrahim Razmpa, Deputy Chairman of Iran's Rhinology Association.

Two prominent people also reported the odd symptom this week. Arielle Charnas, who has the blog Something Navy, noted loss of smell and taste. On Day 4 of her illness, Frozen 2 star Rachel Matthews, who provided the voice for Honeymaren reported, "Randomly lost my sense of smell and taste."

Still a lower percentage of deaths than what COVID is currently doing.

Glad to see that Spain has given employment to all the out of work Dwayne Johnson stunt doubles.

Hey, you jabroni, the Rock doesn't need any stunt doubles, and if you disagree, the Rock invites you to come to the Rock's mansion and take it up with the Rock's size 15 boots.
(Say this in the Rock's voice. It'll make sense, I promise)

It looks like we'll see what happens when a supply chain collapses in my area with regard to the homeless population. With everyone staying home, their means of sustaining themselves has flown out the window. Prime panhandling areas are useless because no one passes by there anymore. All the restaurants are being forced to shut, so they can't feed on fast food from said panhandling. Shops they'd steal stuff from are locked tight. Even charities that would normally feed and house them have stopped because of the virus. The old saying that people are three meals away from anarchy may be put to the test soon for a lot of cities with a large homeless population as their sources of food and shelter disappear.

Well now we're fucked. McDonalds is closing all its UK branches. Can't even get it delivered. Kill me now.
Now is the time to eat healthy.
Eat food that is rich in nutrition vitamins minerals etc.
Cut down on sugar. Drink lots of water.
Lay off drugs and quit smoking.
Lot of people in the states will have complications due to bad diet.

And i havent eaten shitdonalds for over 2 year as once i got food poisoning

I think that has to do with medical workers only, at least that is what they said during the conference.

Yes, it's reduced for medical and first responders to a week. They are also receiving emails to "get their affairs in order, just in case (life insurance, etc)"

Just wondering are you guys on lockdown now?

Our entire region (Luzon) is on lockdown but there are still some people not following the rules. Fortunately my area is very strict and there are almost little to no one going outside. Only groceries, banks, and pharmacies are open. There's also a 2-person limit when using a car.

Was probed in the throat and in the nose from the comfort of my car this morning for covid. Now I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the results.

Im pretty sure it's a bronchitis since my lungs feels on fire, I just want my freaking antibiotics.

We gonna find out a lot of deaths in some places were classified wrong as well.

Not in the millions, but surely in the 1000's or 10's of thousands.

Interview with doctor describing what people with corona virus are going through:

"It first struck me how different it was when I saw my first coronavirus patient go bad. I was like, Holy shit, this is not the flu. Watching this relatively young guy, gasping for air, pink frothy secretions coming out of his tube and out of his mouth. The ventilator should have been doing the work of breathing but he was still gasping for air, moving his mouth, moving his body, struggling. We had to restrain him. With all the coronavirus patients, we've had to restrain them. They really hyperventilate, really struggle to breathe. When you're in that mindstate of struggling to breathe and delirious with fever, you don't know when someone is trying to help you, so you'll try to rip the breathing tube out because you feel it is choking you, but you are drowning.

"When someone has an infection, I'm used to seeing the normal colors you'd associate with it: greens and yellows. The coronavirus patients with ARDS have been having a lot of secretions that are actually pink because they're filled with blood cells that are leaking into their airways. They are essentially drowning in their own blood and fluids because their lungs are so full. So we're constantly having to suction out the secretions every time we go into their rooms."

"Before this, we were all joking. It's grim humor. If you are exposed to the virus and test positive and go on quarantine, you get paid. We were all joking: I want to get the coronavirus because then I get a paid vacation from work. And once I saw these patients with it, I was like, Holy shit, I do not want to catch this and I don't want anyone I know to catch this."

That's the problem. New York's response had been decent, but I really really worry about Florida.

BNO and the Guardian had it right good to edit mistakes but don't update like that
Dead one in Czech Rep. was 95, so nothing really that surprising.

What happen in NYC when shutdown hit the economy, the situation would get worse as more states and cities put in lock-down. A recession is inevitable.

Outside of Philly only "life supporting" business can operate. Restaurants and some other businesses are doing curb side pick up. People seem to mostly be hanging out at parks now rather then avoiding public spaces. It doesn't help that this hit when the weather started getting nicer so people don't want to stay inside. For work my place is remote until May.

In So Cal they shut down beaches, parks, hiking trails other random things. They had to people wont stop gathering. Its been insane. People are gonna find even more lowkey places and pack in. Can people just stop being pieces of shit? Playing beach volleyball, playing soccer. Shit is never gonna stop.

Sadly I think the only way some people listen is when they see some of the horror coming from this and take this seriously.

Don't stress yourself out reading scary stories.
Most of these scary things are people with pre-existing conditions, and sure, there will be some cases with perfectly healthy individuals, but the regular flu takes its own share of lives every year in a similar fashion.
The reason being is you don't need the extra anxiety chewing up your immune system. The other thing is, let's say you do end up coming down with some bad symptoms, or end up in a hospital bed, the last thing you want to remember is scary stories you've read online about someone drowning in their own lung fluids.
The best thing to do now is to stay positive, be vigilant about quarantining and keep surfaces clean, social distancing, watching out for the elderly, and bolstering your immune system with lots of sleep and healthy eating.
It'll get worse before it gets better, but it will get better.
