Thought at the start that he was pussing out once again. Hopefully it can make the difference, and that people will try to stick to it. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, the UK retard quotient is extremely high, you can absolutely guarantee there's going to be all sorts of wankers just going 'fuck that' . I fully expect to see the army deployed to assist with the necessary policing effort.

Lockdown won't do anything where I live. There will still be dog walkers everywhere, like there was today.

It's an unenforceable law. Not enough police.

Another cure from H + A.

But small sample sizes, this could be something that only works in some patients not all.
Here's the thing with HydroxyChloroquine and Chloroquine....all they do is help Zinc get into the cells to stop the virus from replicating. If that person has a zinc deficiency then it's not going to work and they should be giving them a Zinc supplement with it. Also depending on how far along you are with the virus before you're given this as a form of treatment will also matter. This only stops the virus from replicating but its not going to cure you of it but will help your body more easily recover from it. I'm hoping it will reduce the # of deaths. That's the important thing right now.

That's the rub with any of these approaches. Capitalism, in a manner of speaking, utilizes self interest and greed (in a good way) to manage the efficient allocation of scarce resources. Taken as an entity on its own, any given corporation might see that stock buybacks are in its best financial interest, even though it might not be in the best interest of its workers. Give the same amount of money to individuals instead, and they will most certainly use that money on whatever is in their best interest too. The difference is that in the latter option, more individuals as a whole get to benefit directly instead of relying on the whims of yet another bureaucracy. "Undeserving" people might get "free money", but that is an inevitability. How many of these corporations "deserved" to get infused with cash, anyway?

I can't believe that I've lived to see a situation in my country (Scotland) where the authorities are warning the people to stay in our homes, businesses are being forced to close and the government looks like rushing through "emergency legislation" to give themselves exciting new powers to further oppress us.

These are mad times.

As far as I'm aware, my job is classed as "essential" and so I look forward to meeting the first little Hitler police who takes issue with me walking there in the morning or back home at the end of the day. That's going to be a fun experience.

They're not stopping people walking their dogs, it's mainly about people maintaining social distance etc.

Employer in 2019: "Stay at home and just watch TV or play videogames for three weeks"

People: "FUCK YEAH!"

Government in 2020: "Stay at home and just watch TV or play videogames for three weeks"

People: "What the fuck!? We can't do that!"

I'd only seen the headline when I wrote that.

It's good that we can go out for exercise. I need my daily walk around the village (I can do it without encountering other people).

EDIT: Holy shit, I just did my first ever double-post. That's embarrasing :messenger_hushed:

Yep, true but if this rolls out across the world, hopefully the treatment prevents people from getting to the point where they need to be intubated. It might not help people that are in a bad way right now but it seems like there is huge potential for helping the people who are getting infected right now.

I wish. I up at 6 working remotely by 7 and having to video conference with the team to discuss the weeks work at 8 (for about half an hour...)....and apparently they want to make it a daily thing :messenger_expressionless:

Yeah, I did have plans to try and do 3 walks in the day to break up the work routine but I figure I'll have to settle for one long one at Jogger O'clock in the morning when there are fewer ppl about.

The French government wants to release 5,000 prisoners... to stop the spread of coronavirus: https://www.lefigaro.fr/actualite-f...-vise-la-liberation-de-5-000-detenus-20200323

Add the harsher punishments they've just installed for regular law abiding tax paying good people, & voilà, we have a total shitshow. Don't close borders with China, don't close borders with Italy, call everyone who wants to close borders "racist", then when it's too late, imprison entire population in a 1984 totalitarian state... then liberate actual real convicts who're criminals because why not?.

Fuck this. It's illegal.

Yeah I can see this happening. Stupid people gonna be stupid.

We've had dogs for thousands of years. We've been walking dogs for thousands of years. The first asshole who comes along & says "you're no longer permitted to walk your dog" (or makes a worse suggestion like "euthanize the dog"), I say fuck him.

We're headed for war in western Europe at this rate.

Do you not think you're looking at this from the wrong angle? If you're walking to work as a key worker, you'll be fine and likely issued a letter to present on request. The police will only be doing their job, just like you.

Oh, that makes a police state OK then.

I hope people listen to Boris's advice but I've heard Stories of pubs opening and letting people in the back way (lock in style) around here.
Hopefully this helps in curbing the spread and get those numbers down because if not 😬 the U.K. is looking like the next Italy.

I am crossing my fingers that Dr. Fauci can will this battle. I am worried about Western countries. They are not taking this serious. In the US, we are not even close to the peak. Sadly, we will find out this later this week. It would be crazy to open the economy now. Wait until exponential growth slows down. Fauci needs to be clear. Hate being a fear monger but social distancing now until curve slows down or refrigerator trucks later. We can handle this unless we overrun the hospitals.

I agree. It also seems that this is used on people close to death so we don't know if its something that helps if you get it with no symptoms etc....

With small sample we don't know what its effect will be but at least there have been a ton of positive signs. If it works on 70 or 50 or even 30% its going to help no matter what and can maybe get us until there is a vaccine.

Dude the police should not be questioning people just because they're walking down the street during the day in a free country.

Don't mistake me, I get that this virus is serious and I have been taking precautions for weeks now. I have asthma, so I'm
probably a bit more at risk than most perfectly healthy folk out there. I just think our government are now jumping straight to authoritarian mode after doing fuck all about this outbreak for ages when it first became obviously serious.

Army field hospitals will arrive in NYC and Seattle within the next "72 hours or less"
From CNN's Barbara Starr

Within the next "72 hours or less," New York and Seattle should expect Army field hospitals to arrive in their cities by truck and start setting up, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley told a group of reporters Monday.
Each hospital has 248 beds of which 48 are ICU beds.
The mobile hospitals also each come with 11 ventilators. Several mobile military medical facilities are on "prepare to deploy" orders, but these two are expected to be among the first to go.

Oh, that makes a police state OK then.

If in 6 years we're all still in lockdown and the war with Eurasia continues you may perhaps have a point, but at this stage, it's only a 3-week implementation to try and stop the Virus Growth rate in the UK from overwhelming the National Health Service, which it could well do if the present numbers don't stabilise within the next couple of weeks. The UK is pretty densely populated country versus the US (we have a 6th of your population and a 50th of the landmass) and generally we're more urban than rural. If the growth isn't curtailed, were likely to go the way of Italy, with people dying before they can even be treated.

So we have 628 cases in my province. Good thing is they are telling us the numbers

40 hospitlized, 25 in ICU.

4 dead, 1 was actually mis classified so we went down in deaths from 5 to 4 LOL.

Not sure why this info is hard for other countries to release.

I don't see it coming to that. People still need to buy essentials and I can't see the police stopping everyone they see.

I do expect to see the country go into full panic-buying mode though. Even more so than recently. Christ I can't even enjoy the time off because I'm working from home. At least I've got a lot of time off either side of Easter.

Great article...except...probably just horse shit. Trump hasn't talked about re-election once.

Oh wait, 'some person said' it. NVM.

No. I'd describe this as a sensible scaling up of measures to stop the NHS from being overwhelmed and attempt to save as many lives as possible, in response to selfish twats not following previous guidance. It's not a good situation, far from it. I've got kids who are going to be anxious about these measures, but needs must.

Cough cough splutter splutter cough cough splutter.
I'll never be caught, in my toilet paper fort.
Corona-chan is more deadlier than the sars~~~

oh why'd you have to go and cough on me?
When a guy like me has asthma and TB!
Well, I sure hope heaven has a place for me
when a cunt like you just coughed all over me~~~

I guess time will tell.

And those bloody panic buyers... They seem to have started clearing out the alcohol now. I really hope that this country wakes up in a couple of weeks with a fierce hangover, wardrobes full of toilet roll, cupboards full of out-of-date bread and hand sanitizer and just wonders what the fuck we were all thinking.
