Nerd talk. How was Vision able to lift Mjolnir?

In Avengers 2. Is it because he's super strong, or because the hammer considers him worthy? At the beginning of the movie, Cap is able to make it move slightly in the "lifting" contest. That kind of proves that strength has something to do with it. But Hulk can't lift it so somebody would have to be one of the strongest beings in the universe to wield it without being considered worthy. We know Vision is strong but is he that strong?

I know Captain America is able to lift it and use it later in the story, during the fight against Thanos, but that might be for the same reason. Because at that moment, the hammer considers him worthy. Thoughts?

It's because he's not alive . Ultron can lift it to . They kind allude to an old debate comic nerds had , that if Thor put it down in an elevator it would still go up hence lifting the hammer (I had to listen to this sh*t all the time when I worked in a comic book store) . They can lift it but they can't "wield" it . They get none of Thor's power it's just a well made hammer

Cap was actually able to use the hammer properly because he is worthy ...arguably more worthy than Thor himself

It's because Vision is technically a machine. They even had two seconds of banter later in the movie about elevators lifting hammers too.

Cap making it budge doesn't prove that strength has something to do with it, because if it did, then Hulk would have been able to budge it too, since Hulk is stronger than Cap.

Cap just wasn't worthy enough, or it wasn't the right time yet. Mjolnir is a fickle bitch.

Gonna agree with the whole he is a machine thing.

The bigger question is did the writers/director think that or was it just a funny throw away gag they threw into the movie and really didn't debate how can he lift it.

I say it was a gag and they didn't care why vision could lift it.

The writers and directors of these movies have shown themselves to be more competent than not in regards to respecting the source material, so I assume that they put in some thought to it.
 
Marvel universe has aliens, magic, gods, future technology, talking racoons, multiverse, time travel and ton of other ridiculous stuff. Why even ask?
 
Can't manipulate density of himself and objects. Mjolnir might be very heavy normally, but not if you can change it density... Right?

Because when a universe respects its own rules and in the end things "make sense", it's fun.
 
Thor brought the Vision to life with his lightning bolt so In part I think the hammer is "fooled" into thinking it's being held by Thor.

I don't think MCU does that, it's just too crowded with all these diifferent characters with different powers (sience, magic, mental, divine etc.) and all that shit that it's immposible to make it logical and we are still missing F4 and gajillion of mutants. It was fine in first few movies but fell apart after that.

He lifted it and handed it to Thor when they were trying to decide if he could be trusted or not. That was when that decided he wasn't a threat like ultron
 
The competition scene earlier was really there to make Vision being worthy and trustworthy after his initial speech believable.
The machine justification doesn't work because Stark and Rhodey both tried using their gauntlets to grip Mjolnir.

It wasn't a gag. People in the theater reacted to it in a serious way. It got way more "woah"s than laughs in my theater. I think the immediate knee-jerk response was that he had a clean conscience and honest intentions and that is why he could lift it.

Although the "he's a machine" is intriguing.

Wrong. These are movies for children. They happen to make so much money because we live in a society full of soy boy man-children with plummeting testosterone levels.
