So i am watching the conference and what the media says is like bizaroo world on what Trump and his team actually says. Do people actually listen to them talk or just make things up?

Welp I guess everyone is going to twist Trumps words saying he is going to drag people from their homes and force them back to work.

I feel like part of their job is to make people feel safer, and NOT fearmonger, and I feel like they're doing a good job, while also re-emphasizing that this is serious and people need to stay the fuck home.

If no one heeds the 15 day stay home order, of course things will get worse and we'll be stuck in this for longer.

It's going to be interesting seeing what happens in India. Instant ban from leaving homes. for 21 days.

So I guess 1.6 billion people just starve to death.

WH press conference today seems to be jumping the gun hardcore. We haven't even seen the real impact of the virus on our shores yet, but he's talking about imminent victory and everyone returning to work by Easter. We're headed for a major clusterfuck if that's the play.

Fauci backed him up a bit with the being flexible part. Trump will always err on the side of optimism. Always.

If things look bad in a week, or two weeks, and the spread is continuing, it won't happen. But if a lot of areas are doing great, they'll try and ween things back up.

Well anglo-saxon countries handle this in the worst possible way it seems. Here is good video, with statistic on potential virus spread in USA and that's probably with lockdown in place.

I'll just say I haven't stopped milking cows. The crops are still going in come good weather.

The letter came around saying to not even be in the same room as the milk truck driver. The milk truck comes every second day. These fellow travel around to different farms. The paranoia is now telling me to sanitize the whole milk house after their visit.

Yep, people think they can not live without apple, google, ford, tesla when basically the food industry is the one supporting all the system a ca not be stoped...that would cause more deaths than coronavirus

Three weeks without food won't kill you.

It's not exactly good for you, and I'm sure it won't help the elderly. Plus there's a lot of poverty in that country and I'm not sure how freely available water is.

It's the most extreme reaction I've seen from any country. Three weeks without food will destroy your immune system. Not ideal with a viscous virus going around.

It's going to lead to riots and chaos.

I think we still don't get how massive this clusterfuck is: NOTHING can stop this virus, even if manage to lockdown whole country for ~3 weeks killing the deasese that was in once you lift the ban some fucker will bring it in and everything returns to point 0. Vaccine will help or won't plus imagine giving vaccine to all people in the world (and producing it in that amount in the first place). We didn't have anything life altering on this scale since WW2 and even then there were many places in the world where everything was ok, this shit is EVERYWHERE you can't escape it. I think our civilisation is done at this point, we just still can't see it as internet and tv is STILL working.

I hope I'm fucking wrong on this, if not the virus economy will fuck us all...

After todays numbers stating stupid shit like that..........from the start they took their sweet time and look where it got us.
Soon cities will look like the first level of doom eternal.

Also i found this today

Soon or later every one will be infected , the lockdown of activities is just to flat the curve so anyone that needs a bed with respirator can get it. So if you have diabetis and obesity or other problem that can enhance the virus action your best chance is that the vacine comes soon or that if you get the virus and get bad there is a bed avaliable for you.

New York City will close streets to create outdoor space for residents

New York City will initiate a pilot program of closing two streets per borough for outdoor exercise and for people to get fresh air, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday.
The city is aiming to get these sites closed to traffic and open to New York City residents by Thursday. Every site will have authorities who will enforce social distancing policies, de Blasio said.
For now, playgrounds and parks remain open in the city, but the city is working with state and local officials to maximize education and enforcement.
The city will continue to monitor the situation until Saturday evening, at which point they will decide whether residents are adhering to social distancing policies well enough, or if they need to close playgrounds for the foreseeable future.
Citi Bike will also over a free 30-day membership for "essential workers," de Blasio said.

You probably need to take a step back and relax. This virus isn't going to wipeout humanity and we've survived more deadly viruses than this one.

LMAO!

Liberty University lets 1,900 students return to campus during the coronavirus outbreak

About 1,900 students returned to Liberty University, a private evangelical Christian university, in Lynchburg, Virginia, a spokesperson confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. and other leaders discussed whether to extend spring break and "risk students having a longer time to become exposed to the virus," the school said in a statement. It decided it was safer to bring the students back to campus.

"During Spring Break, Falwell and his executive leadership team began meeting every afternoon to determine the measures that needed to be taken for all programs to go online and for students to be able to return to their dorms and use the campus dining services that they paid for," the statement said.

Viruses with higher mortality rate: yes, but I don't think anything was spreading like this shit. Plus I don't think the virus will kill that many people, collapsed economy will. In few months milions of people could be unemployed.

In theory if they keep everyone on campus, and find a way to test them before letting them back in, it could be a #safespace.

I do anticipate reading a "Liberty University has 48 students test positive today" headline soon though.

I mean, I'm sure none of them got infected. They are good Christian conservatives. They'd never have wild drunken orgies or do shots out of each others butts.

As much of a wildcard and unpredictable as Trump is, I just can't see this administration returning to normal as the numbers continue to climb. The ramifications could be catastrophic. Not just for America, but for his campaign.

I gotta think this is some play on his part. Trying to puff his chest out, trying to scare the left, something. Maybe he really is that dumb and callous, but causing more outbreaks won't improve the economy.

Sounds like advisors have been in his ear the past few days about his economy and/or its impact on his campaign. To that I say, if you wanna get reelected, why serve Biden's team up literally the only thing he can use to make you look worse than Biden and his stuttering and dementia laden mumbling.

I'm pretty sure China doesn't have the disease controlled either but they're going to go through it the hard way to make sure their economy doesn't collapse. I think Trump wants to do the same but China has the advantage of having a highly centralized and controlled society so they can control the flow of information and panic better and their citizens are used to big sacrifices for the "greater good". Trump right now probably wished he had that control.

I can see the.. I don't know, truth? in both approaches.

Shutting everything down, locking people in their houses/etc will 100% stop the spread of the virus, as it will burn itself out.

However, does the US have the ability to just shut down the whole country like that without causing worse casualties due to the economic/social/etc fallout from such a shutdown? Our population isn't China, and isn't going to bend over and take it (even if it's in their own good).

I don't know, there isn't an easy answer.

but hey, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS QUEEN, SLAY!

Please do not take any advice from a woman who's husband sold out the American people to the CCP, and she's a useful idiot for them till this day.

Traitors.

But we haven't see the ramifications of that in China yet. For all we know in 2 months millions will be dead and it'll be a total collapse over there.

This whole ordeal has been really eye opening for me, honestly. I know the mainstream media twists things and always have, but their coverage of COVID-19 and the administration's reaction to it has been so completely insane, that I'm going to have trouble believing much of anything coming out of them in the future without extensive fact checking.

They say the inability to smell and taste is a symptom of Covid-19. The inability to do 3rd grade math is a symptom of being Ann Coulter.

But look how small those bars are!!

I bet you anything that the media is going to run with the story that Trump is ordering people to pack church's on Easter. They are going to twist his words today.

It's not the end of the world (never thought I would say that and mean it in a literal sense).

The vast majority have mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. All evidence suggests that those that don't die will become immune. A cure will be found (if it hasn't been already), and eventually the world will return to normal.

Things will get a lot worse before they get better, but it will get better.

Containment is out of the question (where is there to contain at this point?) but buying time for treatments/vaccines to develop and ramping up the capacity of the healthcare systems is not a pointless gesture. Mitigation is the name of the game at this point.

My guess is that she may have wanted to convey the idea of one distribution has heavier tails than the other, statistically speaking.

However, I looked into her tweets history, I become doubted that she is able to comprehend statistics.

NURSES AT KAISER Permanente hospitals and clinics in California could be fired immediately for wearing their own face masks, according to unions representing nurses at the facilities. The news comes after nurses were ordered to reuse disposable protective gear to save supplies in the face of shortages brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The California Nurses Association and National Nurses United sent a flyer to members noting that Kaiser had threatened nurses with firing if they wear their own N95 masks, which offer a high level of protection from airborne contaminants, to work. "Kaiser has told nurses that if they're seen wearing their personal N95 masks, they could be fired 'on the spot' for insubordination," the flyer read. The unions did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Anyone have bar graphs of hospitalization rates by age range? I'm Googling, can't find. There's that statistic floating around about 1 in 10 diagnosed cases needing hospitalization (or whatever it is), but it'd be interesting to see it broken down by age. I imagine older people's bars will still be higher, but it sounds like plenty of young people are being hospitalized too.

It feels like people are seeing only the death rates and feeling invincible, but not even thinking about the possibility of being hospitalized.

NY update, this seems like an all-day kind of thing now:

Right now NY is at a 1% CFR, but this is in flux as they're testing out the wazoo.

Dr. Campbell on study about loss of smell with virus infection

1. Again, more men are dying than women
2. The fatter you are, most likely you're heading to the ICU and possibly dying

My thoughts:

To the men out there on the internets, stuff your face with Cheetos, fast food, greasy foods, and all the hot pockets you can handle in isolation. Don't just eat one hot pocket, go for two. Heck, they're so delicious crack open a second box. After that, was it down with milk and Oreos. You just can't have one Oreo, amirite? Let's eat 20.

This looks like fake news to me.

Two weeks ago, I took my son to a welfare check-up in a SoCal Kaiser facility, and most of nurses and my son's doctor were all wearing masks for "precautionary measures" (paraphrased the doctor) , while the receptionists hadn't though.

That facility doesn't even have an emergency service.
