GAF's Nintendo Discussion, News, and Speculation |OT|

PS. The General Direct is shadow dropping tomorrow. Count on it.

I don't want to hear it!

My apologies to the thread. I still believe Jeff Grubb (for now...), but if we don't see anything from Nintendo tomorrow then I'll stop believing we'll even get a general direct anytime soon.

I was convinced we would have an announcement today. Still could get one, but I was expecting it a half hour ago. Seemed like a pretty good bet.

How does the Switch upcoming lineup look per this date? This is insane. There's no way Zelda will be ready before next year. Xenoblade and W101 in May. Then what? A Direct needs to happen.

Not getting my Hope's up.

It is funny though to read through this and the era thread. I love how silly Nintendo fans can get sometimes.

I'm not really pinning my hopes on this either, BUT...
Jeff Grubb has 3 developer sources stating today is the day.

And NintendoGAF could use some craziness!

That's it's? 🤷‍♂️

It was nice to finally have a release date for XBC, but other than that the Direct didn't really give me anything I'm excited for.

Edit: I love the look of BD2, but I can't get excited for anything Silicon Studio does until I know they've put out an engaging story in their JRPGs

Started watching. Xenoblade looks great. Bit of a surprise in there in regards to added things that I won't spoil. : )

May 29th for the next big first party release (assuming the date holds because of Corona) is nice. Something to immediately replace Animal Crossing as the next big hyped game.

Huh... Not sure how I feel about that.

I liked a few of the third party stuff coming but it really feels like Nintendo has nothing this year...

Edit: I dont know, maybe due to the virus they are waiting to announce things even closer to release?

I'm sure they've got more to be announced at a later date, but as a Direct I thought it sucked. Although I seldom use the Switch as a handheld so I'm probably not the target audience for the late third party ports and that seems to be the news I see most people excited for.

Xenoblade looks fantastic, and the game's additional content was a pleasant surprise.

Mr. DRILLER: DrillLand looks like fun. A series right at home on Switch.

Also didn't expect Burnout Paradise Remastered, or the Borderlands: Legendary Collection, and unfortunately the latter requires content to be downloaded.

Catherine: Full Body was there as I expected. A must-have.

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics looks like fun. Had the original game on the Nintendo DS.

They didn't even have a "yo dude wtf?!" moment like they usually do. Even the 2018 mini had that with Dark Souls Remastered..

Honestly this is probably the first time I've actually been disappointed by a Direct..

Wow, that fucking sucked.

Like, that Senkinsi or whatever aquatic game looked kinda cool, but other than that, it's still just Xenoblade, Bravely 2, and a mountain of junk.

I'd rather have a bunch of WiiU and Wii ports than more pared-down ports from Western AAA studios, but noooooooooo. I guess actual new games weren't on the table at all.

All in all, it's Nintendo.

Edit: StormCell is redeemed.

That was good. Nintendo clearly doesn't have a ton of unexpected things in the first half of the year, and third parties are taking the lead on new announcements, but I'm fine with that.

There were a number of new Switch games today that made me really happy, from Bioshock to Burnout.

Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh, it was just a "mini" Direct after all, but I guess I just expected more after all this time without a Direct.
