Who here is still physically going to work?

I work in healthcare, I work with special needs children and adults. They don't understand what is going on..
But we try our best to give them the best day we can, and be very carefull everyday. They are all at risk patients.

Was at home for most of this week. Gonna go in this coming week but looking like that will probably be it for a while.

Actually on break at work as we speak right now. At a big company with only a few hundred people in the building at the moment. Which is actually far fewer than usual.

I do and I'm super happy about it, everyone is bored but I olny get bored when I get at home, I'm a pc assistnt and I'm allowed to go in other ppl home to make their work from home work.....

I received more sex proposal this last month than ever in my life... (a lot of old unfkable and some good one..)

According to the city guide lines, I'm essential (computer repair) so my bosses may make me go work on Monday. But I have to take public transportation and I'm afraid because...
I may quit.
Philadelphia jumped up another 169 infected since yesterday (total 806).
That's right. Keep ignoring the "stay at home" mandate, assholes!

I work in IT setting up VPNs and everything else. ATM I help with the help desk while I'm free. There are some big jobs coming up, so I'll probably do those installs/setups while everyone is out. I have a company car and I have the capability to work from home. I just don't. I should ask because I can assist the help desk at home tbh. I do have clients to visit and some on-boarding stuff coming up. I just got two big bottles of hand sanitizer, a wireless keyboard, and better tools to do my job.

Hospitals and nursing homes won't even open the doors for us, they'll just hand us the computer or whatever.

I provide as-needed elder care for a few families, so only head out a couple times a week.
Other than that, I've been helping other friends set up telecommunications for their jobs.

I must say that despite everything, the walk in to work this week has been lovely. Birds everywhere, peaceful, and it is an eerie feeling to just stand in the middle of what is normally a busy road.

If everyone could spend the next six months cowering in fear in their homes, that would suit me just fine.

Kinda get this. I hate going to do the monthly shopping, it's always stupidly busy. But both Walmart and Winco were near empty. I hadn't realized before, but they are actually pretty nice stores, it's just the constant battles with other people that made me hate it.

I still work and it's one of the only things that keep me sane in these times. I don't know if this still will be the case by the end of April...

I'm still going, i live in a mountain city in Japan and nobody really feels the bite atm. Japanese people pretty much naturally quarantine themselves during winter anyway~

Need an opinion on something -

A partner at my company just sent out an email saying we're going to continue remote work indefinitely (not surprising), and also asked that we drop them a note about how we're doing. Things have gone surprisingly well on the IT side of things, as our remote work set up has been working well for most. The setup and maintenance of that (and everything else computer-related) has fallen solely on my shoulders, as the company's only IT guy.

I don't mind the workload, it keeps me occupied - but I kind of go through the days and nights with a sense of impending doom knowing that if a server becomes in accessible, I'll have to trek into the city to power it down and back up. We have about 80 employees at our NY location (and 70 others at multiple locations across the globe that I also maintain), and part of me wants to ask if we can set something up where at least 1 person is in the NY office each day of the week. It would help to have the peace of mind of knowing I can just instruct that person on how to get a machine up and running again when it's not accessible remotely, rather than me getting all frantic/taking the hour+ to get sorted and commute in, with the potential of that happening at any given moment. I would volunteer to continue to go in one day a week....but I feel bad putting my coworkers in a position where they would be asked to come in, which might be uncomfortable for them, on top of being against what we're being advised to do. I also feel this will be tremendous leverage for me moving forward when all is said and done, as they have been singing my praises, so perhaps I should just continue to be the stoic hero and hope for the best.

What say you, fellows?

My company is still working.

Non essential manufacturing.

We have to wear gloves, masks, cannot be within 2m of one another. All office based staff are at home. Workers still working. Company refusing to send people home who are older than 60 or who have underlying health conditions.

Not good if you ask me.

Same here, manufacturing also, except we fall under "essential" since it is up to the company to determine if they are essential. Exact same thing going on at my company, lots of older people working and quite a few working together in tighter spaces. No way everyone can stay 6 feet away at all times.

Last week my company sent home, everyone with underlying health conditions for 12 weeks, full pay. So, fair play to them 🤷‍♂️

If you're American and your company has fewer than 500 employees, let them know they can claim a payroll tax credit for doing that and can defer federal income tax, social security, and medicare up to qualified paid sick leave & qualified paid family & medical leave wages paid. It was part of H.R. 6201 FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT.

If you're not American, lol nevermind.

I'm in Federal Law Enforcement and I'm still working. People from other countries still feel the need enter into the United States illegally. We have changed operations dramatically, in the way we deal with people, because of COVID-19. Thankfully this Administration is extremely proactive and safety of our nation and the people who protect it is paramount. Waaaay more proactive than the last administration.
