Three weeks ago, when I attended the 'town hall meeting' where I work, we were told that one nurse had tested positive for Covid19 (which we already knew about), and that three residents had also tested positive (which we didn't know about).
Three residents - it seemed... unimaginable. I remember the moment the announcement was made: there was an audible gasp in the room.
Now, just three weeks later, we have 70 infected, including 26 staff.
15, in total, are dead. I have no idea how this is going to end. We're doing everything we can. This virus spreads like wildfire and is totally lethal.
But I have to try harder to think of others - that's what I realized tonight. I've been thinking far too much about myself lately. We're all in this together, aren't we? Somehow we have to try and get through this. The cruelty here is that we have to remain apart. Right now, the best thing most people can do is stay inside. Unfortunately, in my area, not enough people are doing that.

Maybe he is talking about Hydrochloroquin. Its not really a vaccine per say. But its been trialed in NY and France and is also part of the WHO study too. Trump seems to be behind it too and the other day they mentioned they bought a whole bunch.
If you believe that French Dr and the NY Doctor they would of treated 1800 people with it and only 1 died. So take it how you will.

It might be. They have found when they are giving the BCG tuberculosis vaccine, there is a 30% drop in all infections including viruses during the year it is given. In fact, it has protected against different viruses including yellow fever. While it is not directly for Covid-19, the theory is that it can rev up the "innate" immune system to defend against the virus and dampen its effects. The hope is that it can buy us time until the actual vaccine comes out.

They are shitting on the government because they aren't doing anything. For example, tomorrow I believe, they are going to start ASKING everybody who comes into the country to self quarantine for 2 weeks.
The government keeps refusing to issue a state of emergency too, no everything is still under control, only when cases really explode will we do it, they say.
But don't worry, they will give out 2 fucking masks to every household at the end of the month (who knows how many are even infected by then).

If your government is anything like ours, it means very little.
Almost all businesses will still be considered essential. They basically shut down person to person services, like massage, tattoos, hair cuts and everything that isn't emergency dental.
Everyone else continues on as usual. Even though they only talk about Doctors and groceries publicly.
When everyone is essential is anyone really essential?

While I agree that the government could and should probably be doing more, there is a very good reason that all of their actions thus far have been "requests." Legally, that's the most they can do. The government (neither national nor local) can order people to stay inside or not gather and penalize them if they don't comply. They simply do not have the legal framework to restrict the free movement and activity of their citizens. This is intentional, considering Japan's past with previous regimes abusing emergency powers to put the country through hell.

I found a thing where I can look up how many infections my city has based on zip code and my specific zip code region has 57 and a 20% infection rate of those tested.

Firstly, this is entirely about interpretation of said constitution.
For example article 9 states "In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained."
We all know Japan has a "military", they have tanks, aircraft, etc even though the constitution forbids it. It just depends on how you interpret this. They even re-interpreted this a few years ago, to give the military more power. There are numerous parts in the constitution talking about protecting the public welfare, or lives, etc you could interpret things in certain ways to restrict movement.
Secondly, they could just, you know, amend the constitution. It is one thing to get support for amending article 9, it should be easier to get support to make a state of emergency clause or something.

Mine is by infections in the province. We have one in our area, and he's my friend and I know who he is, we have been taking groceries to him and stuff. He's coming out of it now.
My gf sister is in an area where they keep adding a bunch every day and she has no clue who they are.
I have to say I feel much safer then them, even though I know a bunch are running around undiagnosed where I live.

I have to admit that, despite the grim situation, it's been very amusing watching extroverts have to live in an introvert's world and promptly losing their minds in the process. 1) We do know 20 vaccines are in works, at least one of them tested on humans, but it will take 1 year to get it accepted
2) Very soon, hopefully, hints at existing vaccine (it cannot be something new, as, see above 1 year to get there, because else we might create Coronavirus 2.0 Pro accidentally), which, to be honest, is... hard to believe, as we never had approved vaccines against any of coronaviruses, and they are too fucking unlike other shit that we know how to fight against
