Apologies about the picture, it's a screen shot from my phone but I just got an alert about the governor of TN who is about to issue a mandatory stay at home executive order unless it's for essential needs for Tennessee.

UK update 33718(+4244) which actually represents a drop down to 14.3% on the gain after the irregular rise the previous day (17.5%) after it had been trending downwards since a 25% peak. 10215 tests carried out, of which 41,5% were positive. Total Deaths 2921 (+569) which is not great.

I'm kind of past predictions at this juncture. I do think the whole playing down of the importance of facemasks was a huge fucking error by the UK Government though, and that they've been pushing this narrative that somehow if people wear facemasks they're somehow going to miraculously forget the hygiene rules or not maintain social distancing is the most fucked up BS ever. I think the Czechs had the right idea. Given most people aren't going to know they're infectious for at least a week, at least if they had to wear masks outside then they're containing most of their germs.

I took an early morning walk (6.30 am) masked up in the nearby park this morning, and as usual, it was Jogger o'clock and honestly I was thinking about how much those deluded cunts are just putting out there into the atmosphere with their huffing and puffing regardless of whether they're coughing or not. I'm rethinking my walking plans to suburban streets now because frankly it kind of creeped me out.

You guys are forgeting that the vast majority of cases won't be notified by countries (those with mild sympthons, covid tests shortage, etc.). Even highly developed countries that are not in a state like Italy and Spain are not widespread testing the population (switzerland).

So in fact the mean (average) is way lower i think.

ps: Which does not mean that you should go out there spreading.
Thats true but at the same time we could say that the unreported deaths from china(40000+) unreported deaths from iran (50000+) unreported deaths from africa and india as well as JAPAN oh you sneaky japan would balance out the unreported average.

Bottom line is numbers are wrong from day one. We will never know how many deaths and infected we have.

Sure, but that brings the mortality rate down in any "normal" country. It's easy to subnotify cases than deaths.

Holy shit the death rate to confirmed cases ratio is very scary for the UK.......
The less severe cases from the young and healthy population weren't getting tested previously, so the total in UK is skewed to more severe cases / people with conditions hence a higher death rate.

What do we call "normal"?

There isnt a single hospital in the entire world that ever dealt with anything like this and all hospitals are streched in a very but very short time.
Nurses doctor quiting getting sick etc.
We are only at the beginning of all this.
We dont need deaht counts to see how much of a burden this virus already is .

There is nothing to be downplayed here.

Cases are steadily rising here in the UAE despite the enforced lockdown (they are making it clear that the new cases are mostly a result of people not adhering to the lockdown and going out unnecessarily) .

150 yesterday:

210 today:

8 deaths in total.

Please don't get worse please don't get worse.

It is also possible that the testing is playing the catching up game. You can check the positive rate for flu-like symptom people to verify or nullify this hypothesis.

Here in California, based on statistics, I believe we still have a huge pool of un-tested people with the virus.

Cali has approx. 10k confirmed positive. My estimation is currently there are about 30k positives.

Dont forget Ecuador. They are burning bodies there and leaving them on the street, but trackers have them at 120 deaths. You don't start burning bodies on the side of the street with 120 deaths.

That's because our fuckwit government have hardly tested anyone. Half a million frontline workers in the NHS, and only 2,000 of them tested so far.

Boris Johnson and his rogue gallery of cronies have messed this up from day one. First it was 'if they die they die', then a half-baked lockdown followed by compensation plans that will leave millions unable to pay rent/bills/eat, and vague suggestions to companies to avoid being legally responsible. Then it was all about antibody tests for millions, yet they've tested just 0.4% of frontline NHS workers.

Boris the Butcher. We'll be well over 5,000 deaths by this time next week.

You appear to be suffering from Boris Derangement Syndrome. You may need to see a doctor about that.

Edit: just remembered you're from Bristol - probably one of the many deranged commies plaguing the town.

Oh God, you're not one of those lot are you?

I'm one of those people who are bored of people who rage against Boris and Trump thinking they're both Hitler when Boris is one of the most left wing Tory PMs in generations (to the left of Blair), who thinks the Guardian is right wing because they criticised Corbyn, who think Extinction Rebellion aren't cunts, who wear stupid fucking clown trousers and white dreads and bang on about privilege despite being fucking upper middle class (Bristol is infested with those crusty wankstains).

It really is unbelievable it took this long for authorities to start recommending this. We really dropped the ball here. Masks, covers are always standard procedure in Asian countries.

OntarioGAF how you holding up?

Just saw 29 deaths today and almost half of the deaths in Canada.

Just chilling up in cottage country with no cell service (very nice) and shit internet (very bad).

I was messaging a friend who works at a retirement home in the GTA, she said there's been an outbreak as of this morning. Hasn't hit the news yet but I expect bad news tomorrow, along with the projections they are releasing tomorrow.

A definitive yes then.

Banging the drum for Boris and his government's actions when it's pretty clear to anyone without an agenda that he's fucked this up. Even staunch Tory supporters are openly critical, but that tends to go over the head of those carrying out reverse virtue signalling.

So when is the slow down I was promised? please make it soon got shits to do

Old age homes seem to be getting hit hard. Legault said there is at least 1 infection in 519 senior residence's across Quebec.

And I know that in BC they got hit at an old age home and that was counting for most of their deaths early on.

At least we have banned visiting seniors in my province.

Statistics mean nothing.
Statisticaly mcdonals makes 5 billion burgers a year.
But if i drive up to the window and order 5million at once they will never be able to complete my order.
There is no statistics in play.
Biology is not a statistic.
It does what it wants.

You're the height of wit. I love how you've conjured up an image of me, then attacked that image based on precisely fuck all knowledge. That really only says something about you.

But yeah, knock yourself out with your blindsided serfdom. Britain's fine. Nothing to see here.

Anger as Japanese Prime Minister offers two cloth masks per family, while refusing to declare coronavirus emergency

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is facing a public backlash after he said the government would distribute two reusable cloth face masks per household amid growing concern over medical shortages, as the country faces a worsening coronavirus outbreak.

The number of confirmed cases of the virus has spiked in recent weeks, after it appeared that Japan's initial response had got the virus relatively under control. As of Wednesday, there were more than 2,300 cases across Japan, and 57 deaths, according to a Johns Hopkins University tally.

That spike has seen a raft of new restrictions put in place in Tokyo and other major cities, and a run on protective gear, including face masks. On Wednesday, Abe said the provision of cloth masks to the worst-hit areas "will be helpful in responding to the rapidly increasing demand."

But Abe's proposal to send two masks to each household attracted outrage and mockery online Wednesday, with the hashtag "Abe's mask" and "screw your two masks" trending on Twitter.

Many felt the move was lackluster and would not go into effect fast enough to have a chance at curbing the spread of the virus, with masks not due to be distributed until the end of the month. Others dubbed the policy "Abenomask policy" as satirical memes showing well-known cartoon characters sharing one mask between four family members popped up online.

The anger comes as Abe resisted calls Wednesday to declare a state of emergency, saying that use of such powers was not imminent.

lol @ China being in the 81,000 range for like a month. GTFOH with that bullshit, I guarantee they have no less than 500k with a nation that densely packed and almost 2 billion people.

Everyone around the world can say the same of their respective leaders. Some people might be inclined to give South Korea a lot of leniency, but they lost 169 lives to this virus - that's 169 too many. Keep the heat where it belongs, at the source. China lied, people died. The World Health Organization downplayed masks, was against travel restrictions and, nobody should forget this, also claimed there was no human to human transmission until mid-January - at that point it was already too late, millions had already traveled outside of Wuhan.

A study published in March indicated that if Chinese authorities had acted three weeks earlier than they did, the number of coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95% and its geographic spread limited.

This timeline, compiled from information reported by the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the South China Morning Post and other sources, shows that China's cover-up and the delay in serious measures to contain the virus lasted about three weeks.

Don't ignore the mistakes your leaders are making, but when playing the blame game I'd go so far as to convert that 95% number from the study above to the amount of blame Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China deserve.

Yep and if you mention this on Twitter the Chinese bots will be there with a quickness. 😂

The degree to which the Chinese outbreak could have been mitigated is not that relevant for us in the West, unless it would have been done to the extent where the disease never left mainland China. Considering the failure of more or less every nation on Earth to contain their own outbreaks, that seems like an unlikely scenario.

The public release of information by China is another matter though.
