Fifth of New Yorkers infected with Covid-19, antibody test suggests
More than one in five New Yorkers may have already had the new coronavirus, a testing sample showed Thursday, suggesting infections are much higher than confirmed cases suggest.www.france24.com
Seems like a lot of these antibody tests are starting to show some interesting results.
3,000 random customers at supermarkets seems like a pretty sound sample... if anything, it would probably be biased toward people who don't think they have COVID-19 since they're out and about at the supermarket.
Or it's an inaccurate representation because the people who are trying to avoid the virus are not going to stores.
My building is full of Instacart, Fresh Direct and Amazon Fresh deliveries, and I imagine the rest of Manhattan is similar..
We also know that the tests have accuracy issues.
Still, I think 10% - 20% in NYC is a good estimate, but that shows how herd immunity would be impossible to reach without overrunning the healthcare system.
It also shows how far less dense locations have to go. Upstate NY was something like 3%. Makes me really worried that Sweden is nowhere close to where they think they are.
