Update May 1, 2020: Sony has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it has identified the primary individuals responsible for the leaks earlier this weeks, saying they were not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog, as was rumored.

The publisher declined to comment further, saying that the information was currently subject to an ongoing investigation.

That just raises the question how they got access to the full game if they weren't connected with Sony or ND.

Or the most likely scenario. He was on his way out of Sony or ND and decided to hurt them since they did him no good.

So how does america handle such stuff? He'll get sued, declare bankruptcy and be free of debt in X years?

Sorry it's the only interesting there might be here to discuss for me and I'm actually interested.

If you clicked this even though you didn't want to be spoiled for TLOU2, you're a moron and deserve pineapple on your pizza

well, they are not at ND/Sony for sure currently.
How else is this huge leak going to work? Basically the WHOLE GAME got leaked? How is this possible? Other than an employee or ex-employee?

Maybe some outsourcer or an external like voice/text localization or a tester

Anyone in the physical logistics chain. Manufacturer, packer, shipper, etc. Also possible for a third party marketing company to get a pre-release build to capture assets from. So lots of possibility for the leak

Like it or not real life has consequences. If they had an NDA and broke it, even if they were angry, fired without justification you can only blame yourself, for the lack of common sense. I have an NDA, even if I got fired, I would never place myself in such a position.

Wait.....are you folks actually speculating how Sony could get hacked? Back in 2014 Sony Pictures had ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIES HACKED. Don't nustle me up on some spoilers for a lame emo game. I would guess this is publicity for a game that won't be well received during a health/economic crisis.

Prior to the leaks, and arguably still, the only game in competition for more anticipated GOTY was Cyberpunk, health/economic crisis or not, in fact games like this might sell even better as a way to de-stress during such a crisis.

Something like this would be a good idea:

I think they weren't hacked this time. I bet it may have been an external tester/voiceover artist/marketing folk.

That would count as affiliation

"[...]saying they were not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog "

Game companies often hire a ton of totally independent companies to do outsourcing stuff of all kinds. It's easy that some of these guys may show/send stuff to a friend and... shit hits the fan.

The main difference is that in internal places there is a higher control of these things and people is more aware of NDAs, care more about their career in gaming, etc. People caught doing this stuff I highly doubt they work in games again, at least for several years.

Don't be ridiculous, TLoU is Sony's biggest IP at the moment.

Like they would actually leak major plot points on purpose. lol

So they get hacked and release ONLY TLOU2 info ? Cmon..... If they were truly hacked there should have been info in there about their unnamed projects and we have heard NOTHING. Sony is likely covering up their own sloppy mess..

By the way.....Jason Scheirer was right again.
"If true". Yep, I believe the entire conversation can be surmised within those two words.

Hint: you're not going to get much truth out of this situation right now.

Why would you assume Sony and ND are lying about this?

1) Some outsource partner did it

2) Press got discs before

3) They're lying to avoid controversy

4) someone from SIE or ND gave it to another person and there's no proof yet on that.

Jokes on you. I love pineapple.

The disgruntled employee line always smelled of bullshit. I find it hard to believe anyone that could get hired at Naughty Dog would be that petty and willing to throw their career away for some anonymous Internet fame.

Exactly! Plus consider this......there's no internet fame if we never know who did it. So they aren't even getting fame off of it. So this so-called "disgruntled" person just did it for teh lulz?

Because what's important right now, is identifying who warned the world about the coming clusterfuck caused by a crazy person.

I wouldn't believe Sony/ND until absolute proof comes out. How an outsider (like a translator) can infiltrate LoU2 gaming with dev mode screens doesn't make sense. Is that how external roles are handled with internal? They get copies of games in dev mode with specs and shit all over the screen?

Just remember Sony was also the one (during the PS3 hack) who didn't say anything for about a week.

Also, they plugged Driveclub all year during 2013 and then literally one month before launch suddenly says it's delayed to next year. They already knew it would be delayed long time ago. When they announced the delay, stacks of discs should already been pressed and ready to go.
