Based on what I've seen here in general, slurs are ok to use unless they are applied to black people. I've seen slurs against Asians and whites that were just shrugged off, and nothing happened to the posters to my knowledge. If it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander.

Understood and appreciated. Nobody wants that kind of tone here. Not only that, it also opens the door to a whole world of ugly ideas and people.
I guess I lean a bit more (and sometimes erroneously so, as we've seen) towards second chances and teachable moments. I would have liked Whitesnake to have a chance to knock it off, and understand that kind of dialogue isn't welcome here, in light of being a storied contributor.
I feel like getting a massive ban, and being harshly dressed down in the ban comment, would have sent the message, not only to him, but any imitators.
Still, I can understand drawing a line in the sand. Whitesnake has drawn a particularly damning portrait of himself and the things he believes. It's not a surprise that someone like that may not be welcome here, nor that such a comment would invoke harsh, immediate retribution.

Alright, thanks for looking into it. I made 1 report from that thread; I just re-submitted it now. But to be clear, it's really not about 1 post in particular. That thread is chock full of slurs. In my opinion it would be much better to either choose to stamp out all slurs entirely, or let people be fast and loose with what they say.
