Does it bother you that Sony's event will be streamed at 1080p/30fps?

Personally no it doesn't but i do hope they release a better quality version of the event later on.

I'm curious what do you guys think? Is the 30fps bit excusable for a show that is supposed to show us the "future of gaming"?

Not in the least. I think that people are wanting to get an idea of what games will look like on the next-gen machines. 1080/30 may not give people a look at what they'll look exactly like on the actual system but I think it'll more than suffice for a first look. Besides which there'll likely be full resolution videos released after the stream.

I don't have a 4k TV and the recent UE5 demo easily convinced me that there's a big jump in the next-gen.

Yeah, I'm pretty much refusing to watch it for that exact reason. What's the point of showing off next gen games at current gen resolutions and frame rates? I'm done with Sony. Fuck them. Xbox here I come!

How is that connected to Future of Gaming ? Does it affect the console ? Or the games when it come ? No!

then no need to make a thread about something stupid imo .. state of play and others were the same and after that you will get your 4K video..

it's not a big deal ..

No. Graphics will still look good anyway.

Besides, 4k60 versions will be available right after the show on their YouTube channel.

here you go buddy :)

They will.

Why do people come to a conclusion how games will look like, based on a youtube Stream lmao?
Have you read the blog post?

The games you'll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you'd expect.

Yes, it bothers in two ways.

First is the fact that the quality of YouTube 1080p will be crap. 1440p would have given a huge jump in bitrate. Second is the fact that Sony is a massive company so 4K shouldn't have been an issue, lockdown or not.

But luckily the trailers/footage will be released in 4K after the event.

EDIT: I HATE instant updates so much.

No. I don't see why it should bother anyone? They gave a reason why and the content will be uploaded as separate videos afterwards anyway.

It's not idea and I obviously would rather it be higher, especially when you factor in how much degradation there is already because it's a stream

However the videos will be available on YouTube in better quality and will look much better, so you're going to watch them anyway.

And then you're going to play the game on your PS5 and it'll look much much better because it's not a garbage stream or a compressed AF YouTube video.

Bothered? No, it's a video. For all intents and purposes it's a series of trailers. If you're more upset by the fact that a trailer isn't in 4K than you are excited about the actual game being shown then you're a baby.

It doesn't no. I'm not going to PLAY the video. It just give you an idea and then game I'm interested in they'll have a 4K version on Youtube.

Totally agree. Fuck Sony and MS. Nintendo here I come!

All trailers and footage will be available right after on YT in 4K. So who cares?
I´m sure we will see a 4k version of the stream the next day.
But will they be 60fps?

As i said before i don't care personally (anyone who knows me in this forum long enough knows that resolutions and graphics are on the bottom of my priorities in a game) but i'm sure some people will try to make a big deal out of it.

Especially if the games in MS's event are shown at 60fps. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

It's really not that big of a deal.

As long as we get individual trailers uploaded at 4K at their respective frame rates. Weren't the last 2 State of Play events streaming at 1080p then re-upload at 4K?

The low framerate is a lot more concerning than the resolution. All this shit about TFLOPs and SSD and we're still on 30fps?!

Yes. They mentioned about 4K, which is obviously a given for next-gen consoles, especially from Sony who is one of the biggest UHD TV producer as well, they were the ones who came out with the mid-gen refresh model to support 4K after all, but no mention of 60FPS strengthens my beliefs that Sony will once again aim for "cinematic" framerate in their games... This info, plus UE5 demo and AC:Valhalla being 30FPS doesn't paint a bright future for me when it comes to the upcoming consoles.

Edit: I'm late.
Majority of the trailers will be shown in 4K after the event.

Not at all. This is a games reveal stream. Plus it's not like they can't just put up a download link to a 4K version later.

Would much prefer 4k since I have 4k monitor. 60fps would be nicer too.
But 1080p is no slouch

I'm pretty sure every game showcase gets reuploaded somewhere afterwards so it really is a non issue.

No. Why should this bother anyone?
Because gamers act like spoilt brats that think the world owes them everything as this thread proves.

The moment I saw the 1080p 30fps tag on the official Sony channel I knew the forums will start kicking up a fuss about it even though its understandable why they went that way in the first place due to working from home conditions for all developers. A result of an obvious worldwide pandemic.

But nah 'Where's ma 4K' is what I see people moaning about since this announcement.

Have to question the age of some people on here.

Fucking hell.

You think any of them new consoles will run full blown next gen games at native 4k? Best case scenario, they'll go for variable resolution down to 1440p during "intense" gameplay.

I usually watch YouTube vids on my 4K TV but since this one will be 1080p max I'll watch it on my laptop otherwise everything will look mediocre.

Hey don't shoot the messenger please. As i said before personally i don't give a shit about resolutions/fps. I don't even have a 4k tv yet. I was just curious about what other people thought about this.

People nowadays are so spoiled. "1080p 30fps is crap boohoo... fuck [INSERT COMPANY]".
I rembember in the days of wayback (when dinosaurs roamed the streets) we would get this kind of news in a magazine weeks or even months after it happened.
The framerate was preposterous (one frame pr picture) and the resolution was whatever (not native 4K I tell ya).
But it was exiting nonetheless.

So I don't care about 1080p30fps at all and everyone who do care is a spoilt brat.

Nothing personal by the way.

No, you'll still see the upgrade in graphics, next gen is not just about 4k.

I expect the gameplay/trailers to have their own 4k versions later on YouTube.

1080p 60fps should be mandatory, like in the constitution, for every game in 2020. EDIT: even Switch, yes, they should release the Switch 2 to fix this.
