Isnt the rumour Perfect Dark?, or is that one of the other studios?.
You are mixing up The Coalition with The Initiative. The Initiative was rumoured to be working on a new Perfect Dark.

How good is IGN's player for someone with trash high-speed DSL? Asking for a friend.

I have really good internet now, but I used to have Spectrum and although it was supposedly 100 Mpbs it was usually more like 20 and I think IGN was OKish back then.

I can't stand using Twitch and there is no way I will allow anything owned by Google Skynet on my Xbox so YouTube is out, but it's probably a better stream than IGN.

I think I'm curious about The Initiative's game the most. They have a lot of big names working there but the studio is only like 30-40 people last time we heard

I wonder how big the studio will get

Edit: The Initiative's game won't be there lol

I think Playground Games will show their versatility with Fable and show why they are one of the best Xbox studios
That's very curious to me as well 🤔
I feel like because it is"the avengers" of a studio in that each Dev was handpicked or straight up poached from Sony, perhaps a team of proven vets don't need as much "grunt work" but yeah how Big could this game be? Also wouldn't be surprised if these leads... are just leading teams of outsourced devs. Silicon valley recruits number crunches by the dozen for projects, tons of names in the credits that no one will recognize

Yeah true, I wonder if they could make a big AAA project with lesser people but something tells me they'll need to triple or quadruple their staff count to make something that lives up to their potential

My guess!

Halo Infinite
Next Forza
Hellblade2
Smaller titles (Physhonauts 2,Battletoads, Gears Tactics on XSX)
One or two big multiplats(Elden Ring/Starfield)
A big AAA exclusive by a well known Japan Studio

Closing out with Playgrounds new Fable.

Still a very strong show and better than Sonys imo

The Initiative is early on their project but I expect a real-time easier similar to Hellblade 2 using in-engine assets.

This is me after the Perfect Dark no show Tweet...

I now understand how Resetera feels when Terry Crews says there are good white people and bad black people.

Games early in development like TI's game which requires PCAP work would be impacted the most by Covid. Hopefully they got the PCAP for a teaser video completed last year. Don't expect any plot elements though. This will just be a teaser with the character and tech on display.

And just like that there's no fucks left to be given. The Initiative was the only alluring possibility for this show.
Really...? Because of one thing? There are many other announcements that have the potential to be great. I would understand this sentiment if it was Halo, since it is their biggest franchise. But even then, it would be irrational to assume that nothing else will be worth watching the event for.

Yeah this would be a solid lineup.

I think they confirmed Rare's Everwild will be there also. I'm hoping/expecting Battletoads to have had a significant overhaul.

People who actually think Microsoft are going to show all 15+ 1st party games in development on July 23rd (and somehow *need* to do so or the event will be a 'disappointment') are completely daft.

Remember that no matter how much money Microsoft throws at developers, it probably won't mean they will get things done that much faster. In software development, it's wildy agreed that hiring more people to get things done early (or in other words not late) can possibly result in things taking even longer or at least won't get the results that they want. The saying is usually that "9 women can't make a baby in 1 month". Takes time to train the developers and for them to be effective. There's time taken away from other team members to get everyone up to speed and many other things.

Microsoft acquired a lot of their studios within the last two, years a lot of them already have existing projects. Don't get your hopes up for this event that there's going to be a bunch of gameplay footage from the newly acquired studios of gaming coming out within a year. If they do show anything, expect mostly in-game cinematic similar to the hellblade 2 reveal.

Not saying the event will be bad or there won't be anything exciting, but temper your expectations.

didn't they said that they initial project will be something smaller?

Twitch's code is just awful; it's like every time they add a new useless feature it bloats up their software stack and bogs down the player's performance. The way they handle packet data is terrible.

I hate giving any Google-related product my use but Youtube streams've never continually screw up on me like Twitch ones. I just need a good option for 360p (internet is that trash, need to switch back to Cox), I can always watch the hi-res uploads afterwards.

Doubt most people are expecting tons and tons of gameplay. However, them having an amount comparable to what Sony showed last month is not only possible, but a rather easy bar to pass considering MS have said they've held back footage in the past.

I think if you add up all the genuine gameplay from Sony's event together, that's about 2 minutes worth of footage at the highest end. MS can probably beat that amount with Halo: Infinite alone, considering that'll be releasing this year if they stay on target. Aside from that the only other games most are expecting any gameplay snippets from are likely:

-Fable
-Flight Simulator
-The Initiative's game (maybe, though a strong chance probably not)
-Everwild
-Maybe very brief snippets of some unannounced game

And that's just with 1st-party. 3rd-party games, at least a few of them, will seemingly also be at the event and we could probably get some gameplay footage from a few of them as well.

So yeah, if someone's expecting a literal hour of pure gameplay footage, they were being unrealistic from the start. But if someone's expecting more gameplay footage than from Sony's PS5 event...that honestly isn't unrealistic and would be far more surprising if they couldn't have even 2 minutes worth of actual gameplay.

They did say no exclusives for the first two years. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have

This was said back around E3 2019, so it covers the 2019-2021 period. Some people keep thinking this also covers 2022 but that isn't the case.

So basically, 1st year of their next-gen. And 1st-year for new systems is usually tons of cross-gen anyway. Even with the console exclusives in 1st year, they are usually just prettier versions of last-gen games and not really doing much in terms of game design that absolutely requires the power of next-gen.

Only two exceptions are really at play here, both being Nintendo: Super Mario 64, and (arguably) the Wii.

What if Google buys Xbox?

This is big for Xbox. They can't mess this up, it's far too important. After that disastrous launch of the One & everything that followed this generation, we've now reached a point where they've rebuilt some goodwill & people are getting excited again. Just in time for the launch of a new console. They need to show some good stuff.

I'm hopeful. They've got good studios, we've seen good stuff already (Halo Infinite, Hellblade 2, Everwild) & there's exciting rumours circulating (Fable, Perfect Dark). Looking forward to the show.

So I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on what Halo Infinite needs to do/be to make it a smash hit?
For me it has to revamp the campaign formula. Halo 5 was so boring that I couldn't even get through 2 hours of it. When it feels like a campaign from 2002, but it's 15+ years later, you know you're out of ideas.

It sounds like that's exactly what they're doing, but we have no concrete info yet. So the campaign is what I'm most interested in seeing later this month. The multiplayer....I'll just assume it won't be for me.

The trouble is some manager at Microsoft will like Bleeding Edge a lot and insist other games look like it.

that manager at Xbox probably sees dau and mau stats for games and I am guessing that they are making their decisions on what games to develop on data (dau, mau, revenue, ROI etc.) and my assumption is that bleeding edge results were not even mediocre (because honestly this game is horrible) so I wouldn't expect ms to produce more games like this

I want a Halo:CE feeling for the campaign, but I don't want it to feel dated. It's a asking a lot, but nostalgia done right, with updated gameplay could work

My biggest ask for Microsoft is just to show some actual gameplay. In my opinion, if they show games we know are releasing this year like Halo and Forza with just cutscenes and non-interactive footage then it's a failure. I'm simply tired of seeing trailer after trailer of game "representative footage" or "in-game" cutscenses. That was my biggest complaint about E3 2019 Xbox showcase ( I was there in person). It felt like a 90 minute long session of "preview trailers" that you would see before watching the main event.
